Question About My Dog And Her Health

Canobie lake question with my dog?

Hi, I have a question, every year I visit New Hampshire to go to Canobie Lake, I've seen a lot of dogs on my recent visit. I was wondering if they allow it.
do you have to pay extra?
What can you possibly do with your dog at the park?
Will they let the dog jump in the pool?
Do I need to bring their health records?
anything would help because next year my dogs should be going :]
If you have any stories, I would love to hear them.

Dog question about my 13 year old Schnauzer health condition possible Cushing's disease?

Hi my dog is 13 AND not doing as well as she used to health wise. I have always taken good care of her had her spay, keep her current on all immunizations flea prevention heartworm revention, ect and also had cancerous growths removed anything it takes to keep her healthy. I just lost my other dog and ma extrememly sad about it, did all i could medically for her but she still died . My Schnauzer they think may have cushings disease her fur is thinner especially on her back and her back egs are getting till she has hardly any muscle tone and f she gets on a slick floor she falls and can not get up on her own, can not climb stairs hardly at all anymore, and she pees on floor alot even with me taking her out real often. The veterinarain thinks I should still keep her on heartworm prevention, but I am doing it but still so worried that it is nt the right thing for my dog with her current ailig health I think the hw prevention with it being poison is not doing her any good. Also not sure if I treat her if it ends up be cushings if the medicine will make the reaminder of her life not be quality. I want to do what is best for my dear dog for the amount of time she has left with me. Any others that have elderly dogs with cushings?

Can I kill my dog as it is old and have health issues?

If you have ever considered your dog as a family member and a part of you, than I guess you should answer this question yourself. Though my previous dog a Labrador was suffering from a rare form of cancer aged 12 and was getting tumours one after another, my vet asked me to put it down but we as a family looked into her eyes and said that we are against it and we continued to get her operated for every single thing. My friend and confidant finally passed away after 7 surgeries she braved alone and I might never guess her pain she went through during her last days with us. But I know one thing for sure she was old but she wanted to stay with us and I made sure that she spent her last days as gracefully as she was as a pup when we bought her. She happily passed away in my younger brother’s arms whom she was very close too. Tears in my eyes as of now so I would request you not to euthanize her/ him and let her live with dignity. Rest depends on you !!

Question about health issues in Dachshund puppies?

Our family is purchasing a Dachshund puppy. The breeder has a good reputation, we've met several of her puppies including the half sister of our puppy and they all have very nice temperments. My question is that the puppy we are purchasing has a few white spots on her coat (she is a red, smooth hair.) The white spots are on her chest, her back toes and a small amount of white around her nose. The breeder said these are Piebald markings because her parents are Piebald carriers. I've also researched this on line and found that the white spots can be "minus factors" which seems to refer more to the show quality of a dog.

My question is can anyone offer their experience with a dog with these markings or any health problems or concerns?

Thanks so much.

My dog eats bugs is this bad for her health.?

Mine eats bugs all the time.

If the dog is on a heartworm preventative, it's not a big concern unless he's eating stinging insects like bees and wasps-they could sting him and he could have an allergic reaction. I have to make a concerted effort to keep mine away from bees and wasps.

And she won't eat lighting bugs--something about them is wrong to her. She just spits them right back out.

Nothing else has ever bothered her in 7 years, even though I've had to pull some bugs out of her--the ones with enough exoskeleton go right through and sometimes need an 'assist' to pass. Eeewww!

I have a dog that pees constantly to get even (no health problems). What can I do?

It really scares me when people attribute motives to dogs that aren't part of the canine repertoire.  Your dog is not peeing from revenge. It may be fear - dogs may mark territory when they are nervous about belonging, alternately, dogs submissively pee when they are terrified of you - it's the doggy equivalent of pleading for their life.  Also likely is a health problem.I knew someone who was convinced her dog was "being manipulative" about drinking water.  He would drink and drink and then if they didn't get up in the night to let him out he would have an accident by the front door.  This person didn't listen when I told her that dogs don't use props to manipulate, or urine to "get back at" us.  Instead she withheld water from him. She set up a schedule where he could drink a "reasonable" amount and would not be "manipulated" into giving him more, no matter how he begged.  A year later he died a torturous death from kidney failure that the vet had missed.  It still makes me sick to wonder if I could have done more.  I am glad you are asking about your dog.  Please listen to all the dog owners and trainers who are telling you that "revenge" is not what is happening.   Hire a trainer to assess your dog in your home.  If you can't afford much, contact a local shelter or animal welfare organization - in my area they have behaviorists who might be able to help.  Dog's DeathShe must have been kicked unseen or brushed by a car.Too young to know much, she was beginning to learnTo use the newspapers spread on the kitchen floorAnd to win, wetting there, the words, "Good dog!Good dog!"We thought her shy malaise was a shot reaction. The autopsy disclosed a rupture in her liver. As we teased her with play, blood was filling her skinAnd her heart was learning to lie down forever.Monday morning, as the children were noisily fedAnd sent to school, she crawled beneath the youngest's bed.We found her twisted and limp but still alive. In the car to the vet's, on my lap, she triedTo bite my hand and died. I stroked her warm furAnd my wife called in a voice imperious with tears.Though surrounded by love that would have upheld her,Nevertheless she sank and, stiffening, disappeared.Back home, we found that in the night her frame,Drawing near to dissolution, had endured the shameOf diarrhoea and had dragged across the floorTo a newspaper carelessly left there. Good dog.

What are the health risks of anemia in dogs?

This is Tasha. We rescued her in October of 2008. She had been through four owners, the last owner had fed her only Ol’Roy (Walmart brand) dog food so her skin was covered in sores. After a month of decent food, and a few baths of oatmeal shampoo and baby shampoo, that healed up beautifully. However, her right ear was so infected it took us six months (till April 2009) to get it fully healed. That following June, she contracted Canine Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia…IMHA; primary is when your dog's immune system mistakenly produces antibodies that attack its own red blood cells. She died three days later.
