Question About Purchasing A Motorcycle

What should I know before purchasing a motorcycle?

PURCHASING.... OK, like it or not, stay away from the Harley crap. They aren't as good and most other bikes. Don't buy a bike because of the name! Find one that has a reputation for reliably.... Harleys don't! Harley people, whether they have a good bike or a POS, they will tell you it's the best bike they ever owned!Find the price range you are comfortable with. Get your bank involved before you use the crappy dealers financing. Dealer financing is usually the worse you can get!First would be to pick out one that when you sit on it you feel comfortable. Your feet should touch the ground flat footed while sitting down on the seat. When you grab the handle bars you should feel right about how it feels.Size matters when choosing a bike. Too small or too big and you will have problems. Don't buy one because your friend has one, get the one YOU want! For most people a bike is part of your life style. Find one that when you walk away from it you will look back and smile. Motor size has a lot to do with the cruising ability of highway riding. Don't get one with too small a engine.... too much power will get you killed...I've been riding over 55 years, and have owned just about every bike out there and I have made mistakes and I have owned some great ones. Some I will never own again, others I would buy again.Be happy with your bike, and take care of it when you get it.

What r good questions to ask when buying a used motorcycle?

My boyfriend is going tommorrow to buy a new bike and its his first one. We were wondering what were some good questions to ask when looking at it. We already know it has been dropped once going 30 MPH. But he is going to go look at it anyway.

Motorcycle question, buying a bike with no key?

First of all, if the owner has no key............DO NOT BUY THE BIKE. You need to be in 1st or 2nd gear with the clutch in and once you have run or gone downhill fast enough you "Pop" or release the clutch and the bike will start. The bike does a nasty jerk so it's not something you want to do often. If that's the way he's been starting the bike, I can't imagine what other abusive stuff he's done to it.

Do banks give loan for purchasing custom motorcycle?

• No, you will not be able to get a loan for buying a customized motorcycle. You will have to bear the cost entirely on your own. Any special customization done for you by the manufacturer will not be covered by the loan.• You can get a two-wheeler loan for buying a certain standard models of motorcycles. You might even be able to get 100% financing on specific models, subject to certain terms and conditions.• Naturally, if you buy a standard motorcycle and plan to do any customization after the purchase, it will have to be on your own dime as well.Interested in buying a motorcycle? Will auto insurance cover me on a new motorcycle purchase temporarily?

Hello,

I'm in Texas and have valid auto insurance, I plan on purchasing a motorcycle tomorrow (I have the appropriate license as well). My question is, will my auto insurance cover me temporarily until I get motorcycle insurance?

I know when you purchase a new vehicle you typically have up to 30 days to get it insured - I'm trying to determine if the same applies when purchasing a bike.

What features do women look when purchasing a motorcycle?

Low saddle. My ex wife struggled with 400 - 650 cc motorcycles.A Honda VFR 400, something like this one, had an amazing engine that spun to fourteen thousand RPM… but not user-friendly. She was never at home on it, despite its great engine, frame and fairing. The I bought her a BMW F650 GS like this one. Note how low the saddle is.It had zero wind protection and a single cylinder engine that struggled to keep up with a pack of Boxers, yet in a certain mountain pass I was amazed to see her headlight in my mirrors all the way.The ability to plant both feet on the deck at standstill, and ride without much weight on your wrists, trumps race technology.

Want to purchase my first motorcycle but my wife won't let me? What should I do?

I'm thinking of purchasing one & hiding it at my friend's place. I'll make a payment in secrecy. Which one should I buy? Someone told me 600cc is the way to go for a beginner. which brand & model should I buy? why?

What are some tips for buying a motorcycle jacket?

Make sure it comes with armor in the elbows, shoulders and back at a minimum.  Make sure it is well vented with zippers front and back.   Make sure it fits and the armor sits where it is supposed to.  It should not be stiff and uncomfortable.  The sales guy might tell you it needs to break in.  Don't believe that, a quality jacket should fit straight away.  For a good quality leather jacket expect to pay $350 to $700.
