Should I upgrade my phone?
I have the LG nv3 from Verizon right now. But, our 2 year contact is up. So my Dad asked if I wanted to upgrade to the LG extrovert (I think I spelled that right). He said I am not in desperate need of a new phone since its only 1-yr old. But my phone is glitching out and shutting down at random times anyway. I can upgrade any time I want but I do need a new phone. Plus, I did some research and the the new phone is nice. But I need you people to tell me weather I should upgrade or not or wait, and if I do upgrade, I need convincing way of telling him that I do need a new phone but I didn't ask for one for Christmas because I didn't want to be greedy. PLEASE HELP!

If you're on a price plan higher than $34.99 (i.e. not a family share plan secondary line for $9.99), you can do an early upgrade 1 year into your contract at the soonest. This is because the contract is how they recoup the money from discounting your last phone so steeply. If they let you start over any earlier than a year, they didn't get the value of that discount back on your enV. So, in short, it won't be July, but if you're on a high enough price plan, at least it will be this December instead of 2011. If you need more details, ask customer service about the "early upgrade". I;m not sure about the prices at the actual A T &T stores, but I know that you can get a 2 year upgrade at Wal-Mart. The 3G S is $97 for either the 8gb or the 16 gb. The Iphone4 is $199. You would pay wither of those prices in the store when you went to get the upgrade and that $18 upgrade fee is billed to you. Just try and wait till either the beginning or the end of your billing cycle or you'll have prorated charges on your bill. Also, if you have that $30 unlimited data package....KEEP IT! If you decided to drop it for a smaller one (You can choose between the $15 for 200mb or the $25 for 2gb) you'll NEVER get the unlimited plan back (because they've done away with it). good luck!

I think you will have to buy it again. but why upgrade, there are so many application for the iphone that let you just stream you home library over the internet and listen to music (like SimplifyMedia) I have a library of about 10,000 songs...of course those won't fit on my iphone...but with applications i can just listen to my songs over the internet from my home computer for free. Then of course there are all the radio apps you could ever want. I have the 8GB phone and only use it for movies (if compressed correctly and you chop off all the credits and ending credits you can make the main title about 500MB way smaller than if you put the whole movie on the device.) So in a sense you really don't need the 16 GB if you know how to use the apps and such in the most efficient way.

Plug into iTunes and use restore, update iPhone. Dont forget to back up your device so you can get all the info back. Unless its already done on iTunes.
