Questions Regarding My 10yr Old Son

How do I get my 10 yr old Son to stop hitting his younger (8 yr old) brother?

pretty quick & easy here

10yo hits 8yo
mom hits 10yo harder
Know why? Because if you tell the little one to hit him back, you're just going to get a fistfight out of it. Since you're the parent & the only parent, it's obviously your job to teach them, right? So you bop him a good one right back. No warning, no obvious anger. He hits his brother, you walk up & pop him in the back of his head, or across his face, depending on how and where he hit the other boy. Then you tell him to take his a$$ to his room for absolutely no less than half an hour, and the next time he does it, it's going to be an hour. A good point: "You think it's okay to hit little people; how do you like it when big people pick on you? Okay then."
And for the argument (BUT BUT BUT BUT MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM HE blah blah blah blah ME FIRST blah blah blah), you say (rather loudly) "I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT! GET IN YOUR ROOM **NOW**!"
It takes about 30 seconds in all. Stick to the rules & consequences & you'll break the habit in no time.

Follow up re: question about son and daughter?

I asked your advice about my 10-year-old son and my 12-year-old daughter. As I mentioned, they have a good relationship, but they do tease each other from time to time. My son, believing that it’s cute or funny, will sometimes give his sister a “titty twister.” I’ve taken away privileges and talked with him about how sensitive a girl’s breasts are, even analogizing her breasts to his balls. He seems to listen, but then does it again another day. As I mentioned, my daughter asked me....the next time she gets a titty twister from him, could she give him a light kick in the balls?

Most of the responses on here said that I should allow her to give her brother a taste of his own medicine, as long as the kick isn’t too hard. I believe that’s what I’m going to do, but I’m wondering what I should say in advance to my son (how to explain this to him)?

Give me your best advice. Thanks!

Food allergy question with my 9 yr old son?

I just found out that my 9 year old son is allergic to soybean, peanut, corn, histamine, all nuts, carrot, green peas, barley & rice. Does soybean mean anything that contains soy lecathin? Does a gluten free diet include rice? I am still trying to educate myself with the internet. My son was having a lot of stomach problems and he did the skin tests and bloodwork as well. We will see a gastronologist next. Any type of diets that exclude all of this? It sounds difficult to follow but I will do my best to follow it, for my son's health sake. Any advice will help..thanks!

My 10 year old son loves the question "If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound"? What similar questions can I pose him to get him thinking?

I like to open with a question that seems like it would have only one answer, when in fact there are many answers. You mentioned the tree falling question. Such a tree does make a "sound" (a scientific word with a definition based in vibrations) but it does not make "noise" (a legal word, in which someone with standing to complain about it must be able to make an objection).Exactly when does today end, and tomorrow begin?-- To the ancient Israelites, tomorrow begins at the moment of sunset.-- To the Romans, tomorrow begins at the moment of sunrise.-- The traditional TV Guide day begins at 5:30 AM, Eastern.-- Our understanding of the current Gregorian calendar is that tomorrow begins at the very second of midnight, 12:00:00, local time.-- Insurance contracts and legal forms usually specify 12:01 AM as the beginning of the new day.-- Banks traditionally "close" the business of the current day at 2 PM, and although they continue to work after that time, these transactions go in with the next day's business.-- "First shift" in most businesses that operate 24 hours will begin at 8 AM or 9 AM.So, there you have it, seven different answers to one question.

My 10 yr. old son's friend is leading the rest of their friends to ignore him. What advice can I give him?

happens with my group of girls all the time. We have a group of 6 girls who play everyday. And yeah it feels awful when it's your child. I am trying to teach my girls to stick up for each other and not leave each other out. I tell them to remember how they felt when it was their turn to be left out. I think it's starting to work.

What can I do for my 10-year-old son who has a 7 mm size gallstone in his gallbladder?

Take him to the doctor

Should I try and pay attention to my 10 year old son as he goes on and on about Fortnite?

Yes you should. I have siblings and they do the same thing about their various interests. Its important for them to feel like someone cares about what theyre are doing. So even if you dont care pay attention. All your kid wants is your attention. After a bit you can interject and ask to talk about something else. Its an easy way to make them feel loved and cared for.

10 yr old son is a loner. Does this mean something is wrong?

My 10 yr old son does not have any close friends. He socializes somewhat at school but usually informs me that everyone is "stupid" and they try to get him in trouble. I have spoken with his teachers and they say he is a pleasant young man. He comes home and plays with the dog or rides his bike alone. He has one friend that he made at the end of the school year but now that summer is here the boy is not home. I enrolled him in a summer camp for 2 separate weeks to get him out and socializing and maybe see kids that he went to school with. But today he cried on the way there and said that he hated everyone. This happens every time I try to get him out with other children. I worry that this is the beginnnig of a troubled adulthood. He has been to counseling before and I am thinking of it again. Any suggestions?
