Quit Drinking Soda Weight Loss

If I quit drinking soda can I lose weight?

The short answer isYES!So long as you substitute it with water. And you do substitute your soda drinks with sugar rich drinks, commercial fruit juices, beer, vodka, energy drinks, etc..

If i stop drinking soda, how much weight can i lose?

Depends which soda...

Let's say it's Coca Cola you're drinking, for example. I think there's about 142 calories in one or something like that. So 142 calories multiplied by 5.5 cans per day is 781 calories. 781 calories per day, multiplied by 31 days in a month is 24211 calories. There are zero calories in water, and approximately 3500 calories is a pound of human fat. 24211 divided by 3500 is almost 7 pounds you would lose. This is assuming you replaced the soda with water for 31 days and left the other parts of your diet and exercise alone, which I doubt you could do all at once.

I say this only because your body will go through a withdrawal and since you don't seem too overweight right now, I am assuming most of your daily calories come from soda. This is terrible and unhealthy, and will lead to diabetes, hypertension and a slew of other health concerns. Don't take me the wrong way, I'm not saying you won't lose weight if you stop drinking soda- I'm just saying that with this much soda, your weight is the least of your problems.

Stop drinking soda, lose weight?

The average soda has about 110 to 220 calories, so if you drink 4 a day, and replace them with herbal or unsweetened tea, or even water, you'll have cut up to 880 calories out of your daily diet.

You could have a few of candy bars for those calories or a LOT of blueberries.

Can you lose weight just by quitting drinking sodas?

oh yeah i did. what happens with your body is u drink it and your body see the sugar but dont get any thing else so your body stores it as fat so u waste cals. drink water. i worked at a vet and had to walk over 50 dogs i was on my feet all the time.i would buy pop there, well when my furture husband came home i stopped like a month before and just had water or tea. and wow all my jeans were to big i had to have a belt all the time. i also had less time to sit around and do nothing or eat. oh and also when u drink water and your body is not use it u will gain a little weight but that is your body getting ready to flush out so then u will lose alot more. my husband is in the army and when he came home he didnt drink much water and gained weight but he is use to drinking two gallons a day. he was overseas. oh u might also lose inches not pounds but pounds are just a number when u lose inchs u get a small size of jeans and pants. so i would pit inches other pounds lost. well good luck hope u get to where u are happy.

How much weight can you lose by quitting soda?

You don't say what size you drink - 12 oz, 16oz or what; the simple answer is to multiply the calories per day by 182 or 365 days, and divide by 3600 to get the number of pounds.

This is assuming of course you make no other change to your diet and exercise.

BTW, congratulations on making a smart choice. If you don't buy bottled water, you should also save a lot of money as well as your health.

I stopped drinking soda, but I haven't lost any weight. Why is my stomach flatter?

You're not filling it up with liquid 3-5 times a day. The balloon of your stomach never had a chance to deflate before.

As for seeing weight loss, you need more time for your body to use it's fat stores. Fat is like an old waitress at a dinner constantly refilling your coffee cup. We use up some, and put more in. When we eat too much or drink soda all day we are overflowing our cup. We can't drink the coffee as fast as she can pour it - we can't use the energy stores (fat) as quickly as we can put it on.

By reducing your intake you are giving the body a chance to start taking more and more out of the fat stores. If you make no other changes except for losing soda, you'll come down maybe grams or oz every day. But water, food, clothes, the humidity on the scale, all play a part in fluctuating your weight. If you go down 3 pounds in the next week and then up one again, don't freak out.
