Quitting Smoking What Is A Good Replacement Herb That You Can Smoke Instead Of Tobacco

Are e-cigarettes worth using when trying to quit smoking? How long does it take to quit smoking using e-cigs?

After smoking for 20+ years, with several failed attempts in between, I managed to quit smoking in just a day and an half. That was almost seven years ago, and I have not smoked since then. Funny thing is, I was not even trying, or hoping, to completely quit. My intention was to smoke *less*, but I imagined it would be difficult to quit completely, given the previous attempts.Unlike Pharma NRT's, e-cigarettes mimic the action of smoking. The behavioral side of a smoking habit is also a great part of the equation: Pharma NRT's do not adress this aspect, and have a dismayal "success" rate measured with a single digit.Today, the choice I once made is clear: to ever remain a smoker with some non-smoking periods in between (my "quitting" attempts, over and over again), would always be worse than becoming a vaper and quitting smoking for good, albeit using a smokeLESS alternative to tobbaco, one that may be not *completely* safe, but it's orders of magnitude *safer* that tobacco cigarettes. The several studies that were already available on the final of 2008 (yes, there *are* studies, there *were* studies even back then  :) convinced me, and so I switched in the beginning of 2009.And never turned back  :)

What would be safer for quitting smoking, herbal cigarettes or vaping?

Is smoking mullein or other herbs an effective way to quit tobacco, to still satisfy the urge to smoke but with less harm done?

Historically we’ve had hundreds of millions of people (actually more like thousands of millions I’d guess) smoking tobacco for, collectively, likely billions of people years by this point, most with little harm done to them until they’ve smoked for 25 or 50 years or more.Smoking ANYTHING else might be riskier, perhaps MUCH riskier: I’m sure there are a fair number of plant products out there that’ll send you toward your grave in 25 to 50 seconds or minutes rather than years. Is it possible that there are some plant products that might be safer to smoke? Perhaps Persimmons or something? Possibly, but you wouldn’t really be able to know that unless you studied a good number of thousands of smokers over a period of a good number of decades. We’re slowly building up that sort of research for marijuana, and it’s possible there’s research on opium in that area… but there’s really not much out there for anything else.MJM, who generally sticks to tobacco…

Tell me how to quit smoking? please?

Dear Friend,

Good on you that you want to quit. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Can a smoker overcome the physical addiction and habitual behaviors of tobacco use? The answer is a resounding yes. Not only is quitting possible, but it is also highly beneficial. It is never too late to stop using tobacco. Quitting at any age and in any state of health improves one’s health.
Because no single condition leads to tobacco dependence, no single solution cures smokers of their dependence on cigarettes. Some people are able to quit smoking easily, while some find quitting so difficult that they do not quit even when facing tobacco’s serious health problems. Smokers who believe that quitting smoking will be easy or that God will make it easy for them may become disillusioned if they experience the normal withdrawal symptoms or if they relapse back to smoking. Therefore, it is wise for smokers to take time to plan this important change carefully and prayerfully.

Successful treatment can include at least three components: (1) counseling and advice from a skilled, knowledgeable professional, with a focus on developing problem-solving skills, overcoming barriers to quitting, and preventing relapse; (2) support from friends and family members; and (3) the possible correct, careful use of legal stop-smoking medications, including nicotine replacement and other drugs tested for safety and effectiveness.

A local hospital or clinic may offer a stop-smoking group, and a health professional may be able to provide expert advice about medications that can help ease the physical and emotional discomfort of withdrawal symptoms. A nicotine replacement medication helps control withdrawal symptoms over a period of weeks or months while the ex-smoker gradually becomes accustomed to living without tobacco. 11 Nicotine replacement products are not designed to replace nicotine permanently; rather, the ex-smoker tapers off the nicotine replacement medication over a period of weeks.

The least successful way to stop smoking is to try to quit all at once, or “cold turkey,” without any kind of help. Quitting this way may seem like a good idea at the time, but statistics show that only a very small percentage of those who attempt to quit this way will still be smoke-free a year later. The work of quitting smoking involves not only the initial actions of becoming tobacco-free, but also the lifetime task of remaining tobacco-free.

Cheers

There is also khat...but it is illegal for people to import it, so hard to find.

Relaxing herbs to smoke?

Does anyone know of any mild herbs that can be smoked for a relaxing effect?

Please don't mistake me for a 15 year old pot head trying to get a buzz in his mothers spice cabinet, because I'm not.

I'm tired of these stupid "herbal marijuana alternative" sites (legalbuds.com, herbal-smoke.com blah blah blah) I'm hoping to find a herb that will just give me a mild relaxing feeling

if you can give me any information on this or a good informational site it would be great! :) thanks

Is it illegal to smoke non tobacco hookah if you are under 18?

well, i've worked at a hookah bar for nearly 3 years, and my best answer would be to wait. non-tobacco shisha (the real name for what you smoke from hookahs) is not all that good. shisha is wonderful, but i have had no luck in finding NON-tobacco substitutes that come close.

if you're really interested in it smoking, try soex. you can buy it online, but if you aren't 18 you may not have a debit or credit card, which could complicate things.

"Soex 100% Herbal Shisha for Hookahs. A potent blend of natural herbs make up this wonderful new herbal shisha! While not as strong as our normal herbal smokes, this herbal shisha is a great hookah tobacco alternative."

for another thing, if you're not 18, it makes it a little hard to get a hookah.

but then again, the law (in pennsylvania anyway) doesn't say you can't have one. it just says you can't buy one.

oh, and please, for the love of god, don't smoke weed out of a hookah. it's so lame. it gives hookah a bad name and i hate that. it's such a good thing and then you have all these punk@$$ kids giving a thousand year old tradition a bad name... ugh.

hope this helps,
alycea

Been smoking Mentha Piperita (Peppermint Leaf extract) and it feels like its getting me high??

It's not getting you high. The peppermint oil is irritating your mouth, esophagus and lungs, which gives you that weird feeling that you get when you smoke weed. But it's not altering your mind or anything.

Mint leaves have been smoked for thousands of years. It's used in alternative medicine as a tobacco substitute. If you want to stop smoking tobacco, gradually mix your tobacco with mint leaves, (or other herb leaves, like mallow, betony, chamomile, and yarrow) and reduce the amount ot real tobacco everyday, replacing it with the other herb. Since the mint leaves have NO "properties" that would get you high, or addicted, it's a good way to gradually stop smoking. This is what my mother did when she quit smoking.

Try Salvia.
