Why is history so boring. I mean its not even the teacher because in 8th grade i had the most energetic teacher ever and he was funny?

but i still had no interest in anything he was teaching. It is still like that for me now as a junior. I always fall asleep in history class literally not one thing in history makes me intrigued and history is also my lowest grade (84) simply because i just don't even have interest in studying for it. I s there any way to make history more enjoyable because my teacher yells at me for falling asleep but i try not too its just that theres no enjoyment in anything I'm learning.

What is the simplest yet most profound invention in the history of humankind?

So many come to mind, but I recall an old British TV show, Connections, where the historian James Burke made a compelling argument that all human civilization is built on the back of the plow.Essentially, the argument is: the plow allows 1 person to grow enough food to feed >1 person. That means that it is possible for one person to specialize in something other than the creation of food, leading to commerce. It means that I never have to gather grain, i can spend my life weaving baskets, and trading the baskets for grain. Which means I get really good at making baskets, and on top of having more food, our group has more baskets than we did before. maybe our group was big enough that me and my brother both made baskets, but I got so good at them that he started making pots, because we had enough baskets- and he makes some bad-ass pots.Meanwhile, the rest of the group no longer has to take time out of their day to make pots or baskets, and so they can make even more food than before, so someone else is freed up to build their own niche of specialized labor, and it feeds in on itself until you live in a world where you can wake up in a house you did not build, drive to work in a car you did not make, to work in a building belonging to a different company than the one you work for, and get paid in money you never see, because that is taken care of by people you never meet, across an electronic network you can’t even understand.
