Racial Minorities Sad To Know You Were Born Into A Country That Doesn

Is America a racist country??

Is USA converting from white country to a black country?

The US was originally a rather "white" country with its first citizens mainly coming from Europe. The importation of black slaves changed that a bit, but not significantly. The major change derives from the fact that the world view of interracial relationships has become more and more liberal as time marches on, so the "purebred" races will diminish eventually and be replaced by people who come from all kinds of ethnic backgrounds. That's a worldwide phenomenon, but only a bit more pronounced in the US. which invites immigrants from all parts of the world and all ethnic backgrounds equally.

So after your grandchildren are long dead, it's quite possible that whites in the U.S. will be an even smaller minority, correct.

That said, while I understand the desire of small countries with a unique culture and population to preserve their heritage, this is not the case with the U.S. The United States is the "New World," deliberately set up to be different, to be a safe heaven for people from all over the globe. Unlike Thailand or France or Greece, the U.S. has no typical people and culture to preserve. We are still in our baby steps so far. Many apartments in Europe are older than the United States.

Is being a racial minority frowned upon in the United States?

It is only frowned upon by racists, of which there are a decent number. However, there is a large number of non racist white people. Also I think some non white races are more accepted than others. For example “Asians” as in from any Asian country, are viewed as diligent workers and intelligent. Some nonwhite groups can be very prejudiced against each other (African American vs. Hispanic is who comes to mind). Sadly, people do sometimes ask “"what are you?” like that's somehow ok.I used to think there were more non racist people than racist people in the USA, but with the spike in craziness & racism I've seen the last couple of years I'm not so sure anymore, sadly. My circle of acquaintances seems accepting of people regardless of race and curious about other cultures or is hiding their racism well. I have disassociated myself from some people when I saw their true feelings. there are also many groups working on equality and unity type projects in my state so people can meet and learn from and about each other. If anybody wonders my context, I am a white female, born and raised in the south in a small fairly racist town by parents who aren't racist (immigrant father). In that small town people are very patriotic and conservative, in general don't travel outside the southeastern USA much, and just don't know many “foreign” people. They would not categorize themselves as racist.Idk if your question was serious, but I tried to give a serious answer from my perspective!

What race am I if I was born in the US but my Parents are Mexican?

Most likely you are a white, Mexican-American. But you can be of any race…It helps to understand the differences in terminology. A person born in the United States is an American (nationality). Your parents are Mexican…Mexican is a nationality, while Latino or Hispanic is an ethnic group, usually of Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, or other Spanish culture from say South or Central America.Keep in mind that the terms "Hispanic" and "Latino," which are often used interchangeably, do not mean exactly the same thing. Hispanic refers to any ancestry of Spanish decent, while Latino refers to someone from Latin American – so a person from Brazil would be a Latino, but not necessarily a Hispanic, while someone from Spain would be Hispanic, but not Latino. That being said, most Latinos are Hispanic. Either way, Hispanics and/or Latinos can be of any race. So for example, you can be a white Hispanic, or a black Hispanic.Bottom line – you haven’t given enough information to accurately determine your race, but it is clear you are Hispanic/Latino American.

Do you think it's a blessing being born white?

im white i dont feel superior but Im glad Im not Black or Puerto Rican because no disrespect to those two groups, it would be harder living in America being either one.

Why do Filipinos who are born in the Philippines, have such a dislike for themselves?

Your argument is true. A lot of Filipinos seem to hate themselves and admire foreigners. However, I do not think that they hate themselves. Consequently, I think Filipinos just are not "proud" to be Filipinos. Well, as a Filipino, I am always proud of myself so it is so sad to think that some Filipinos are not proud of their roots.

I think this attitude of Filipinos can be traced back from the long history of colonization of the Philippines. For more than three hundred years, the Philippines have been under Spanish and American rule. Obviously, they are the "white men" who enslaved the people in the country. In this light, it can be seen that white superiority may have been inculcated in the Filipino psyche that has caused them to believe that they are inferior to the white race.

As of now more than the history of colonization, I can consider the Philippines being under such "indirect" colonization or should we say being "imperialized" by Western countries who can be considered to be part of the white race. This may have contributed to Filipinos not being proud of themselves and wanting to be part of this "white race."

Another possible reason is the current turmoils and misunderstandings that are occuring in the country. Politics and peace have not been in good condition in the country. Corruption have continued to be a specter haunting every home in the country. Well, as compared to "white countries," the Philippines can be considered to be in bad condition. In effect, these problems in the country have aggravatred, I think, the Filipinos not being proud of themselves.

As a Filipino, I have also undergone such belief of white supremacy. However, after thinking over such matter, I thought that there is something wrong with such belief. If you are not proud of your country, then, you should find ways for you to be proud. Do not leave it in chaos because that is your responsibility as a Filipino. In the end, each Filipino will only be the ones to save his own so be proud and find ways to be proud.

Actually, I do not know if my comment will help you be enlightened. But I hope you will understand that Filipinos does not have "self-hate," it is just that they are not proud of who they are.

Is the United States now the least racist nation on Earth?

I am of UK and Swedish descent — I am undeniably white. I was born and raised in the US and my parents were also born and raised in the US. I have the most racially diverse family I’ve ever heard of. My relatives include people from all over Europe and Scandinavia (including, but not limited to: Italy, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, and Sweden), India, Israel, Africa, Mexico, and Native Americans. If you can beat that, let me know.Is the United States the least racist country in the world?Although my information is purely anecdotal, I would certainly hope there are countries that are less racists than the US. As far as I can tell, racism is alive and doing well here. After the South lost its bid for independence, do you think the North welcomed blacks with open arms? Sure it did. Wealthy white northerners (including Lincoln, a self-avowed racist) got together and bought the land now known as Liberia. The plan was to put all the Blacks on ships and send them to Liberia, where they could set up their own government and have their own country. Whatever they wanted to do, as long as it wasn’t here.If you’re not white, try spending some time in Washington (state) or Oregon. Yeah, they’ll love you there. Sure they will.I work with a bunch of guys who claim to not be racists but, in reality, they are very racists. As one example, a day or two ago, I was asked: What are Bedouin? I said: Nomadic people of Arabia. He replied: Oh, so, sand niggers, OK. I just turned and walked away. There’s no way to deal with such ignorance.
