Ramadan: Why should we say "Alhamdulilah" when sneezing?

Harmful substances contained in the body are dispelled when one sneezes. Especially when the harmful substances are strong, an odour can be smelt. We are saved from many sicknesses and diseases by the mere act of naturally sneezing as these harmful substances are expelled. Our entire lives are in the control of Allah. If Allah wishes, he may cause our bodies to cease where we will not be able to make even the slightest move. When one sneezes, a person’s face becomes distorted for those few seconds. If Allah wished, he could have kept us with the same distorted expression permanently. It is only through the mercy and grace of Allah, that he grants us our normal expressions again. When a person sneezes, the eyes automatically close. By the eyes remaining open, potential damage can be caused to the eyes. Allah causes the eyes to close to save us from such harm. Sneezing generally causes the breathing passages to open up, thus allowing a person to breathe easily. In exchange of the many benefits we enjoy from sneezing naturally, it is only fair that we say our heartfelt gratitude to Allah by saying “Alhamdulillah”

How Come Some People Have Better Lives Than Others?

Asalammu Alaykum, Brothers and Sisters.

I've always wondered why some people have better lives than others. I'm not saying this is unfair. Allah [SWT] knows best, but I'm just wondering why. Are there different levels of "tests"?

For example, my cousins have such lavishly rich lives, while I am not as rich as they are. Not to mention I live in abuse. But, then, there are people who have worse lives than me. The orphans in Africa, who have no food to eat. May Allah [SWT] provide the ultimate best for them. Ameen.

Some people live in abusive households; some are homeless; some have cancer; some are blind/deaf; some are physically disabled.

It's interesting how different our lives are, yet, we'll all be facing Allah [SWT] on the Day of Judgement for similar reasons. :)

But what do you think? Do you think there's a reason that some people have more comfortable lives than others? If so, why?

Ramadan: What are some nice Hadiths that give advice or inspiration?

Assalam Alaikum WaRahmatullah WaBarakatuh. The Prophet (saws) said :

► “Knowledge is acquired by seeking it, and patience is acquiring by striving to be patient. The one who strives to attain good will be given it, and the one who strives to protect himself from evil will be protected. (Narrated by al-Khateeb and others from the hadeeth of Abu’l-Darda’; classed as hasan by al-Albaani)

► “Ahead of you there lie days of patience, during which being patient will be like grasping a hot coal. The one who does good deeds then will have a reward like that of fifty men who do such deeds. – And someone else added – They said: O Messenger of Allaah, the reward of fifty of them? He said: “The reward of fifty of you.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood (4341); al-Tirmidhi (3085) and he said: it is a hasan hadeeth. It was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah 494)

► “Wealth does not decrease because of charity, and Allaah increases His slave in honour when he forgives others. And no one humbles himself before Allaah but Allaah will raise him (in status).” (Sahih Muslim 2588)

► "Islam began as something strange and will revert to being something strange, so glad tidings to the strangers.” It was said: Who are they, O Messenger of Allaah? He said: “Those who are righteous when the people are corrupt.” (Saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah 1273; the hadeeth is also narrated in Saheeh Muslim 145)
