Why does Modi celebrate Deepavali every year with the Indian Army, even though India is a secular country, and he does not celebrate other religious festivals?
See friend, I really feel afraid when people ask such questions. I think it’s important to change the criterion of being a literate. Because, when you ask such questions, you defy all logic of being a literate and educated person.PM position is secular. It doesn’t matter if the person holding the position belongs to a particular religion. The person holding the position may practice a particular religion but the position is above all religion. PM can practice any religion, or no religion because we are secular.Why only this position? From a chaiwallah to President, whatever the position be, whatever be the job, it doesn’t belong to a caste or religion. Why ? Because we are secular. And since we are secular, they can practice any religion. I love Mr. Abdul Kalam, I support Mr. Modi for his initiatives. I support them because they are good leader’s and contributing/contributed to the society in a good way. And it doesn’t matter if they practice one particular religion as it doesn’t affect me in any way. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a hour long speech at Fatehpur on Feb 19, 2017, and talked of hundreds of issues, but self proclaimed secular and actually communal, political parties and the paid media noted only words like kabristan and shamsan.This is a serious problem in our democracy. Leaders of SP, BSP and Congress start the talk of communalism in politics if Hindus even remotely seem to be beneficiaries.It is so shocking to see that almost every party is trying to appease one particular community, and it is horrific to see that even BJP is one of them. Yes, BJP is looking at the votes of the females of that pampered community. Going by the words of politicians (as there are hardly any leaders), it looks like no other community exists in India.No one from opposition and from media bothered to find out if there is any existing simmering issue at that place, which could have been brought to the notice of PM. Basically, there has to be some reason, otherwise why would PM raise such an issue.No one bothers when Mayawati ji openly appeals to a particular community to vote for her party, and not to vote for the existing ruling party and to avoid vote division.No one has any issues, and even the so called democratic and secular media, does not care when the dethroned SP patriarch MSY talks of killings of Kar Sevaks at Ayodhya. He talks of it as if it was a heroic deed and that is so nauseating to see time and again.In fact, Akhilesh had chance of coming back but he has blown it up, first due to family feud, and then next by aligning with the corruption tainted and moribund Congress.

No body, leader or commoner, of any religion, anywhere in the world, is obliged to wish anyone on any occasion. It's a goodwill gesture, I agree.. But no obligation.Secondly, Trudeau makes it a point to reach out to every community and group individually. Be it the queer or Sikhs, Refugees, Tamizhs etc etc. That's his style.
