What is it like to be a religious minority in Iran?

According to my knowledge, all recognized Religious minorities enjoy freedom and representation in parliament. Cultism and Sectarianism is not tolerated.There are Sikhs in Iran, who, although not recognized live a good life.Baha’is are not recognized in Iran. Baha’ism is seen as a cult because it emerged from Babism that caused at least 3 civil wars in Iran and claimed thousands of lives. All Baha’is activities are banned and punishable. Still Baha’is involve in proselytizing and forming their illegal administration and at least one underground university. They are thus punished and tried and this is termed as ‘Persecution of Baha’is’ by Baha’i propaganda networks.

The ‘New Idea’ was that, after breaking up Austria and Turkey, everything became national - even the Allied countries - and even Iran. As to the ‘how’ of this transformation, don’t ask, don’t tell.Point being, Iran was not made in a 20th century drawing room, much like the European countries. If you poke a little at either end, you’ll see that Iranian “identity” (identity being a fuzzy enough concept as it is) is simultaneously defined by (a) the common existence as a cultural unit closer to one another than those around, (b) blood descent, whether Turkish or Persian, sometimes devolving into ‘purity’ of the blood (c) stability, as guaranteed by Iran’s power not to turn into Afghanistan or Iraq, (d) Shi’ism and (e) inertia.By the same token, witness the archetypal “civic” nationalisms dissolve into goo as migrants come in.
