Ramadan -why Do We Need Hadiths

Ramadan: Surah Al Fatiha????

You need to learn at least a few other short suwar to recite besides al-Fatiha. I would personally recommend ones like Surah al-Ilkhlaas, Surah al-Falaq, or Surah an-Anaas. They're very short and easy to memorize.

"So what do I do while I am still memorizing surahs? I don't want to read from the Qur'an or off paper while making salah because it will cause unneccesary motions and mess up my prayer won't it?"
It is not "unnecessary" to read from the Qur'an or a paper if you do not have the prayer or some suwar memorized. It is perfectly halal to do so, in fact it is mandatory that you perform Salaah as correctly as possible, even if you need to use a book or paper. I still have to glance at the book I learned how to pray from when I pray, because I don't have the entire thing memorized yet, Alhamdulillah, just most of it.

In the source box, I have put a great guide by Shiek Feiz on how to pray like the Prophet (SAW). I also recommend a book called "Make Wudu & Salaah like the Prophet (SAW)" by Muhammad S. Adly (this is the book I use). I think it costs around $3.00, but I'm not sure because I got it for free when I took the Shahada.

@ANToSa: "hi...to answer your question u need to memorize surah al fathiha...which is pretty small n can by heart in 10 - 15 minutes..its v easy n u also need to memorize some short surah too. i studied from a local book n memorized everything. there are great books for this.try searching for one"
Not to be rude, sister, but are you serious? I've never met anyone who takes more than 1-3 minutes to recite Surah al-Fatihah. It's only seven lines, even with the most beautiful tajweed it shouldn't take anywhere near 5 minutes...

What is the difference between the Quran and the hadiths?

Hmm Frank, you DO have good intentions, don't you? The Holy Quran is the word of God and the hadiths are sayings of the prophet Muhammed, recorded by companions or those close to them (pbuh). Some are weak whereas others are stronger...the stronger ones have been researched and traced back to the prophet. I hope this helps!

What does this Hadith mean about the 15th of Ramadan?

I am unable to find reference for any hadith referring about 15th of Ramadan .Also would like to inform you that you should not believe on anything without reference. It's a common practice today to spread false things. You may also spread something in order to spread good but it can turn out to be harmful for you if that hadith is false.“Aboo Qataadah Al-Ansaaree (radiyallaahu `anhu) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) saying upon this pulpit:“O people! Beware of relating a lot of Hadeeth about me! Whoever says anything about me must not say except the truth, for whoever ascribes to me what I have not said, let him occupy his seat in the Hell-fire!”Authenticated by Al-Haakim (1/111)Also,Waathilah ibn Al-Asqa` (radiyallaahu `anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) said:“Verily, one of the worst lies is to ascribe to me what I have not said.”Reported by Al-Bukhaaree (3509)Beware!!

What's the best thing to do in Ramadan?

Ramadan is seen as a month where you can take a fresh start, often at times when a Muslim is into a bad habit, and they know that it's bad for them and needs to be take care of. The month of Ramadan gives them opportunity to break the habit and get a new start.Because of the self discipline of fasting and observation of your emotions and actions all day long. Your ability to ‘control’ yourself is increased in Ramadan. And since Ramadan is a stretch of 30 days in a row, it gives plenty of time to rewrite and rewire your habits. This time for example, I have decided to quit smoking, although I am not a regular smoker but still whatever little I do, It needs to end. Also smoking is passive right? If a friend of yours light a cigarette you are likely to follow. The beauty In Ramadan is that it's not just you but people around you are also observing fasts. So it's not just you who are mainting your discipline but the society as a whole. Which really helps.

I have just converted to Islam a week before Ramadan fasting. I have been partaking in the fast but on the 10th day, my boyfriend came and we had sex. What can I do, I want to still continue in the Ramadan fasting.

First of all don’t let this discourage you. Most of the muslims, including myself that are commenting here come from cultural backgrounds and societies that are very different from yours. You won’t be the perfect muslim on day 1. It is a journey that will take years or decades and we are all on this journey with you. I have yet to meet a person who openly admits that he/she has never sinned. The key is to try and not give up and pursue perfection. While i don’t think we can blindly follow any hadith we read, I would like to share the following hadith to hopefully ease your concern. The Man who Broke his FastIf you want to continue fasting perhaps you and your boyfriend can wait until the end of fast. When people say marry your boyfriend, it does not have to be court sanctioned but could be as simple as you both announcing to public to live together as husband and wife (I am skipping some details that you can look up). Also, maybe you want to talk to your boyfriend to see if your boyfriend can change a few beliefs. It takes very little to become a Muslim. He does not have to be practicing. Lastly, Instead of googling and using Quora, Please talk to a scholar about this and other Islamic issues who would understand your environment and culture. The only scholar i can think of who would is Mufti Abu Layth Al Maliki. Find him on facebook, Talk to him about your concerns. May Allah SWT make this ramadan and your life easy for you here and in the hereafter. Amin.

Can I exercise while fasting in the month of Ramadan?

It depends upon how long the fasting is a in your area. Fasting slows down your metabolism so you have to adjust your exercise accordingly. I used to continue exercise when days were shorter, just needed to be more deciplined on when to exercise, which was around 9PM, leaving enough time to rehydrate and eat. But with 17 hour long fasts I have tried and have found it to be very difficult. This year I plan to exercise only twice a week, and very moderately. There is no need to push yourself unnecessarily hard. Ramadan passes by quickly, and after that there is whole year to exercise.

what are the benefits of giving charity to a mosque?

The benefit is that ANYONE who does ANY good deed in there ANYTIME for as long as it exists....YOU will get a share in the good they do...without that diminshing their reward in the least. I will try searching for some proofs, but this is well known in Islaam. (Same goes for teaching others islaam, or helping them become muslim....Can you imagine the reward that goes to prophets and our blessed prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them)? )

Salaam.

Edit : Here you go :

مَّن يَشْفَعْ شَفَـعَةً حَسَنَةً يَكُنْ لَّهُ نَصِيبٌ مِّنْهَا وَمَن يَشْفَعْ شَفَـعَةً سَيِّئَةً يَكُنْ لَّهُ كِفْلٌ مَّنْهَا وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّقِيتاً

4:85. Whosoever intercedes for a good cause will have the reward thereof, and whosoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a share in its burden. And Allah is Ever All-Able to do (and also an All-Witness to) everything.

See http://www.tafsir.com/default.asp?sid=4&tid=11849

Ibn Maajah (224) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The good deeds that will reach a believer after his death are: knowledge which he learned and then spread; a righteous son whom he leaves behind; a copy of the Qur’aan that he leaves as a legacy; a mosque that he built; a house that he built for wayfarers; a canal that he dug; or charity that he gave during his lifetime when he was in good health. These deeds will reach him after his death.” Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.

BTW sister, the hadith need not be from Sahih Bukhari for it to be as authentic as Sahih Bukhari.

There are many other proofs for it, alhamdulillaah. but the above is sufficient insha'allaah. If you want more info, please email sister Rosy.

Eg, if the above helps you give more charity and teach other about what I have taught you above by the permission of Allaah, I will get a reward for the good deeds you do as a result, and also of the good deeds anyone else does that you teach, then they teach, etc etc....

So I ask you to learn it, and also teach others, and ask them to teach others, till Tawheed covers the Earth. Its a very easy way to get a lot of reward !! Salaam

What is the dua for my sin? I had alcohol on April 19 and the Ramadan fasting will start on May 17. What should I do? I feel guilty. Will my fasting be accepted?

We have all made mistakes, we are all humans. There is no one dua you can recite that will make everything go away. That’s not how Islam works. You have to sincerely be apologetic, which I believe you are since you are coming here. It is important not to commit the same sin over and over again. Now, you can ask for istighfar and there are many duas or supplications for this. The easiest would be repeating Astaghfirullah as many times as you can for a minute or two a day. We should all be doing this regardless of whether we just comitted a sin or not.You can ask for forgiveness without knowing the things you have done wrong. The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), the man who Jannah is guaranteed, asked forgiveness of Allah seventy to a hundred times a day.If Allah can forgive prophet Adam (pbuh) as according to hadith below then he can forgive you. He is Al-Ghaffaar and Al-Ghafoor. One who forgive repeatedly, and one who forgives all, small or big sins.Allah the Almighty said: O’ son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it. It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authorities is sound. Here are other duas:11 Powerful Duas For Forgiveness From Allah (One step closer to Jannah)

Ramadan: is it permissible for a muslim to attend a wedding ceremony of christians in a church?

There is no objection in Islamic Sharia for a Muslim to accept the invitation of a Christian to attend a wedding ceremony in the church provided there are no Munkarat (all evil acts and things) such as: drinking alcohol, singing, statues and performing forms of worship that are not for God (Allah).
If such evil acts or things are present in the church then, it becomes unlawful to go there. Abdel Razak reported from Aslam (the servant of Umar ) who said: 'When Umar (Radiya Allahu Anhu) came to Al Sham, a top ranking Christian man made some food for him. He said to him: 'I would like you to do me a favor to visit me and eat with me'. Umar (Radiya Allahu Anhu) replied: 'We do not enter your churches because of the pictures in them' .
