Random Misfire 2000 Dodge Ram

What does "misfire on cylinder 1" mean and how do you fix it?

not sure what engine we’re talking about or how this was determined , but assuming its spark-ignition (gas/petrol) type , then there are three main reasons for misfire . #1 low compression ; a valve leaking , head gasket leaking , or broken piston ring . #2 weak/intermittant ignition ; faulty spark plug , high resistance in plug leads , faulty coil , or faulty distributor if used . #3 wrong mixture ; faulty injector , vacuum leak . #1 problem can be verified by a compression test , #2 can be checked by interchanging plugs , wire and coil pack one at a time . #3 is a little more difficult , but injectors can also be interchanged , check vacuum hoses for cuts/holes or completely disconnected .

RANDOM MISFIRING Olds alero 2000?

Can anybody please tell me what is wrong with my car I have a 2000 olds alero that came back with the code random misfiring , I replace the plugs, wires , air filter, fuel filter, belt . and it did not help, the car sputters and back fires, and ususaly dies when you put it in gear. then you have to crank the engine several time before the car will start again , if you can get the car in gear and you keep patting the gas then it will sputter down the road that how i got it home please help?

How do i reset the computer (the brain) on my 1997 dodge ram 1500?

Standard procedure on Chrysler vehicles it to disconnect the negative battery cable, turn ignition key to start for a few seconds and that will reset the computer.
If there is some fault still there the light will come back on in a few minutes.

2000 clk 430 cylinder 2 misfire?

ok it can be 1 of 5 things

1. the cylinder 2 is not getting gas (injector problem)
2 the spark plug is messed up or dirty
3 you are not getting compression
4 your spark plug wire is messed up
5 the timing is off

now u can get a compression test on it see if it holds compression
then u can take spark plug out see if its dirty
then buy new wires
have the timing checked
then u can get these light things -you take off the injector wire (little plastic thing that clips on it put the light in and try to start the car (make sure u take off the wire to the distibuter cap and see if it lights up

and feel free to email me for help if u get stuck on something

and as for the temp if it stays there even when the car is off or cold its the gauge if it doesnt fo a radiator flush and see if that helps

How do I fix a misfire on cylinder 2?

First make sure you determine the location of #2 cylinder.A misfire just means that the ECM has determined that that particular cylinder is slacking off, so to speak. It is not contributing. So your code would be a PO3O2.Next thing you should do is determine if you have spark to that cylinder and how strong the spark is in kV. You should have anywhere from 30 t0 50kV spitting from the coil.If you have spark, then you have to determine if it is going into the combustion chamber through the electrode of the spark plug. The spark plug could be "bleeding" the spark away due to a cracked insulator or moisture between the boot and the ceramic portion of the plug.If spark is not the issue then we get into the realm of more in depth diagnostics. Is your injector "spritzing"? Is it injecting too little or too much? Do you have a scan tool that can tell you when the misfire occurred and under what conditions, called a "freeze frame" parameter ? Very useful. Is the misfire occurring at idle or under load? What is the static compression like in that cylinder compared to the other ones. What is the running compression? Can you do a "leak down " test to determine the sealing of that cylinder ? Are you sure that intake runner to that cylinder does not have a vacuum leak?. Does your car have individual EGR passages for each cylinder? Are they blocked ? V6 Honda's have small channels for EGR and when they soot up it can send the diagnosis  barking up the wrong tree. Most commonly misfires are caused by the lack of /or weak spark. But not always.

How do I solve a cylinder 3 misfire?

Misfires are flagged due to lack of contribution from that cylinder. Lack of contribution means that that cylinder is not producing adequate combustion or no combustion at all.Misfires are caused by lack or weak spark due to faulty plugs, coils , coil wires, distributor caps ( if so equipped).Or, fuel issues, no fuel or too much fuel or too much air ( vacuum leak). Fuel related culprits could be injectors, clogged or not pulsing due to internal failure or drivers in the PCM or wiring to injectors.More serious issues are engine internals such as valves not sealing. Usually exhaust valves. Or worn cam lobes, or broken valve springs. So, eliminate the easy things first. Verify spark and measure strength of spark with a cheap spark tester. You should have a minimum of 30 KV jumping the gap. Swap plugs and or coils to see if the misfire travels to another cylinder.Eliminate fuel and vacuum leaks  issues with a propane test. Carefully introduce propane to the affected cylinder.

Random check for $2000?

I received a check in the mail for $2000 from a company I've never even heard of, Entergy Arkanas Inc? It also has my name and address on it... My dad wants me to endorse it but I have no idea what it's for! Could I get in trouble if I take the money? I feel like its a scam, any advice?

My 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 ltr engine code P0302 cylinder # 2 misfire I have switch coil with anothe?

I have switch coils with another cylinder and still # 2 cylinder shows misfire, I change spark plug and still # 2 misfire. I notice if I erase the code while the engine is warm the code stay off, but the following morning the truck will idle rough then the light will return. What could this be a Bad injector?

Hyundai Accent Multiple Misfire codes P0300, P0301, P0303...what could be the cause?

Hey, I'm having trouble pinpointing what the problem could be with my car. It is running very rough, and stalls whenever I turn the A/C on. The check engine light comes on blinking immediately when I start the car and does not stop. I recently replaced the spark plugs, and when I took the car to Auto Zone for a diagnostic test I got the codes P0300, P0301 and P0303...multiple misfires in the cylinder. I have been told that it could be the spark plug wires, cam shaft sensor, or the coil pack...any other suggestions?

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4-wheel drive with a 5.9 liter engine.?

On your 1998 Dodge Truck RAM 1500 1/2 ton 4WD 5.9L MFI , the Fuel Filter is located:
Under vehicle, center, below cargo area, mounted on top of fuel tank, in fuel pump module

The tachometer (RPMs) is connected directly to the ignition. So if it fluctuates rapidly, it indicates you have an ignition misfire problem as opposed to a fuel problem which would make RPMs change much more slowly. Maybe there's an OBD-II engine cylinder misfire code stored in your computer. You can buy an Actron scanner to help diagnose the problem while your driving down the highway. It hooks to the connector under your steering wheel and dash.
