Rapping At Home With A Condenser

A decent microphone for rapping?

Try buying a logitech speaker headset, only $30. It is a pair of headphones with a mic on it. It is mostly used for recording speech or for skype, but I guess it will do for low budget.

If you have a macbook pro, it has garage band and you will be able record really well without buying a microphone. recording quality is good for rapping or talking.

If you actually want a mic, it is not going to be cheap so you might want to get a decent one
Try a Shure SM58. good voice quality, it will last, it has a usb connector so you can plug it into your computer but it also works as a regular mic too. It costs $200 but that is a solid price for a decent mic.

I hope I helped.

Which is the best rapping mic?

dynamic mics are good because ur not gonna be using high vocals so u wont need a condensor or other mic.
a good/durable/cheap mic 4 rap is an SM57
u can get 1 for $50-$70 even lower than that.
u get alot more than u pay for as it will last u long and is good for making mixtapes.

since i guess u dont have thousands to spend it will suit. even some pros use them sometimes

What is the best microphone for rapping?

I’d recommend the Shure SM7B. They are more expensive than some - but it’s because it’s a time-tested, hit-making studio microphone. If you’re a beginner, you could get away with using a cheaper option like the Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Studio Microphone. This one is a Best-Seller on Amazon and has an almost-perfect 5 stars (out of over 450 customer reviews). It’s not a USB mic so it’ll record higher quality vocal tracks. Since it doesn’t have a USB connection - you’ll need an audio interface like the Presonus Audiobox USB 96 (use that link for a full review). They actually have a bundle deal on Amazon right now that’ll save you some money. Click the link here if you want to take a look at everything the PreSonus bundle deal includes. If you feel confident that you’ll be putting in a lot of hours to perfect your craft, the SM7B is definitely worth it. This mic doesn’t include straight-to-USB connections either so you’ll need an audio interface (like the PreSonus Audiobox) to use this one as well.Check out this Shure SM7B Review to learn more about technical details, features, which vocal styles it’s great for, and who’s used it to create great music/media.It’s also more versatile than the Audio Technica AT2020 for recording vocal styles other than just rapping.I hope that helps, either one of those microphones would be great for rapping (and other vocal styles).Have fun recording! :)

Condenser Mic?

I have a Shure USB condenser microphone. I use it for rapping, however, it doesn't give a good sound quality.

I tend to rap very loudly, so every time I rap loud, it has a screeching sound (like when you scream into a microphone).

How do I get rid of this? Obviously, you're probably gonna say to just stay further away from the microphone but the volume of my voice changes throughout the song, so my voice isn't always loud.

Please help?

What is the best microphone under $200 for recording rap?

You need a microphone and an audio interface. The Shure SM57 or 58 are great microphones, but are not USB, hence the interface. Shure SM57 PreSonus AudioBox USB These will set you back $200 new, maybe less on EBay or Craigslist.

Good Mic for Home Recording?

You are looking for a condenser mic (maybe a large cardioid) when it comes to studio recording. A dynamic mic is more for live performances. You may find either one at a local music store, but their prices are usually pretty high compared to the internet store prices. I own 8 CM's that i bought off the internet for $50 each. Thats a great deal for starters. My local music shop was charging $129 for it. A pop filter is a good buy. Not only does it protect your mic from the moisture it minimizes the "P's" that tend to pop in the vocal tracks, so it doesn't pop (which can ruin the track).

Anyways, the Meteor is ok but not for REAL vocal recording. It works great for video blogging and other things of that nature, but for recording vocals you want something a little more professional. The MXL MCA SP-1 is a perfect mic for the perfect price. http://www.pssl.com/MXL-SP1-Condenser-St...

You will need some other equipment but at the price of $150 you can get an easy set up. This includes the Mic, Mic Stand with boom arm, Pop filter, Phantom power supply and cables. It's a great kit for the price and i recommend it to anyone starting with a small budget.

How can I record good quality rapping/singing with no studio / equipment?

I don't know if you can record good quality stuff, but that is a relative way to describe it. From a recording engineer's perspective, you just can't. From a home artist's perspective, there are a few ways you can optimize your phone recordings, in my opinion.1) Reduce as much noise in the room that you are recording in. The closer to silence you can get, the more pure sounding your recording will be. Turn off all electronics, fans, close windows, lock out pets, wait for roomates/parents to leave, and TEST it as well. Make a phone recording of nothing but the room. See what gets picked up when played back through headphones. 2) Reduce the reflections in the room. This is also a noise reduction technique, however it reduces the noise made by the room itself, when you are recording ANY sound. Without spending money on acoustic tiles and traps, try finding porous and dense materials to surround the recording area with, particularly around the phone itself. You can create a sort of localized booth with foam or even rugs/cloth. You can use egg cartons to surround the wall to make makeshift diffusers, that help reduce and scatter reverberations. Find an acceptable volume of input as well. If you are rapping and singing too loud, these techniques will become less effective. Loudness should NOT be the goal here. 3) Use Audacity after the fact. You can not only record directly into your computer, but you can import a phone recording into the computer to compose or to align with an existing beat or composition. There are also basic mixing plugins and parametric EQ's on-board to help tune your recording to your specifications. Do NOT fall into the trap of thinking that you can make any recording great in post. A good recording usually doesn't need much editing to sound good and translatable. They are clean, rich, and dynamic.Long story short, you can do OK without gear. No one's gonna buy a recording from a phone, but if you can translate what you're trying to do well, you might achieve your goal! I definitely started recording on a phone, and much later, over a long period of time, have a passable studio setup. If you want a professional sounding recording without gear, you're better off paying an engineer for studio/mixing time.
