What are the Western countries' opinions on Marx?
Western countries have generally been hostile to Marx, but it's important to clarify what is meant by this statement. I mean that the political leadership in the West has generally been hostile to Marxism (as a straightforward revolutionary political agenda). Somewhat ironic, since Marx himself predicted that socialism would break out in the advanced Western economies before spreading to the less-developed eastern economies. Instead, western countries never confronted a serious Marxist revolution, while eastern countries like Russia and China saw working-class Marxist revolutions. Some Western leaders such as FDR incorporated Marxist ideas of government-engineered social mobilization, but according to him, these New Deal programs were designed to prevent a working-class Marxist revolution during the Great Depression, not to implement one.However, Western academics have generally been sympathetic to Marxism, even to this day. Most abandoned Marxism once the horrors of the Stalin/Mao regimes became generally known, but some persisted. One particularly important line of thought is "anti-Bolshevik Marxism," a more libertarian approach which attempted to distinguish itself from the totalitarian Marxist regimes practiced in Russia and China. Academics such as Zellig Harris and Noam Chomsky fall in this tradition.Overall, Marxism had much more general appeal in the mid-19th to early-20th century compared to today. Subsequent history, especially the failures of the Soviet Union and communist countries like North Korea and Cuba, has proven his basic thesis wrong. Is reading the great books of the western world really worth my time?
As opposed to doing what, exactly?If you are a mathematician in the class of Euler, or Leibnitz, or Gauss, or Newton, or Einstein, then no. The world will most benefit from your papers.Are you an artist in the class of Leonardo, or Titian? Then no. The world will most benefit from your artistic production.However, I highly doubt you are in the supergenius class. Yes, YOU will benefit from reading the “Western Canon”. You will not only understand the allusions and references in the books you read, but you will also (horrors!) enjoy at least a few of them.And reading is much better for your mind than watching TV. A study was done once, many years ago. They compared brain activity while watching TV to brain activitiy while watching a blank wall. The people watching the blank wall had MORE brain activity. As far as I am concerned, TV is an addictive drug, the most prevalent and damaging of all. Take a look at the obesity epidemic in the Western world, then see how many obese people do nothing but sit and watch TV; television is one of the root causes of obestiy; and any doctor will tell you obesity will shorten your life.Just my $0.02.
Why is there a confliction between Islam and the western world?
we just forgot all about it... there was no conflict 100 years ago.. it is all about the lost rights of Palastinian ppl in havin thier own land and the lost right of all muslims to get thier Aksa Mousqe in Jersualem back.. and the west is protecting Israel with all means.. in order to not give the muslims thier rights... i condem any terrorist attack on any country... but we should ask our selves why these ppl are doing so.. i think it is thier dispair in getting our rights... it is not the well to kill.. or that islam tell us to kill.. we have to be objective and not shallow when we think about it.. the medie story telling is so so so misleading about the truth of the whole coflict.. if we can solve the Plastanian Islreali conflect then i thnk no confict will find place.... but the problem that they want to force ppl to accept what is on the real site... regarding the rights of muslims.. then the conflict happen..... you can tolerate in your personal right.. but you can not in your reliogous rights... and if you ask muslims to do so... then why dont Jews do it..

The survey was a huge failure... In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant. In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant. In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant. In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant. In South America they didn't know what "please" meant, and In the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant.
Why is the WESTERN WORLD JEALOUS FROM MUSLIMS?
the western media keeps telling lies about Islam in order to make their citizens hate Islam more & more. Why are the Westerns so Jealous from us?? Is it because we are cleaner than them (We wash ourselves more than 5 times a day)? Is it because Muslim women are modest & respectful & they haven`t lost their honour or became public properties or sex objects like most of the western women? Is it because even though we are living in our darkest point in our history & we are suffering from poverty but still there are no high suicide rates in our countries if compared to the numbers in the wealthy west? Is it because we have moral values like the previous examples that I gave above & the western world has nothing except materilistic concepts which are going to fall sooner or later (it already started) while people in the Muslim world (Muslims or non-Muslims) have their religion as the top priority in their lives which is the reason why there are almost no atheists in the Muslim world?

i originally thought so until i read and heard some interesting things about how the other side of the world views him. I dont beleive they perceive him as badly as we do(western civilization, america) i read one article that said they loved him and 43 % of russians said they would vote for him again. they erected monuments of him etc. thanks for your help im really interested in the history of the USSR
