Really Worried About My Cat

Should I be worried if my cat ran into the wall and hit her head?

It depends on how hard she hit, how old she is (sorry for using a female pronoun; currently I have females who own me). My little one is crazy, she fell off the roof of the house and toolshed. She just sat up, shook her head, mumbling to herself (she's a talker) and I went outside to see if she was ok. I saw this from the window where I usually sit at.She was more mad at herself for not being careful I think. I watched her (I let her in for the rest of the day),she was fine.I would watch for 24 hours to see if any abnormal actions occur. Look at her eyes to check occasionally her pupils are dialated, any blood coming from ANYWHERE, appetite normal, shaking of head more, physical appearance normal, etc. If all normal for 2 days it's probably alright. If worried, go to the vet absolutely. I'm not a vet, and I can't actually see your cat. But after having 7, I found they are fairly used to bumping into things. Now if the cat is over 10 years old, I would be more cautious and get to a vet at the FIRST anomaly. Older cats aren't as resilient as younger. A check out would be best.

My cat has been acting strangely? I'm really worried that he might be sick. How can I tell if my kitten is ok?

I would say contact the vet immediately. The behaviour doesn’t sound right. You don’t give enough details for anyone to give a definitive answer but kittens can become very ill and die very quickly, so even if you’re in the UK where it’s currently 10.10pm, I’d advise you to phone the vet’s out of hours number and not wait until morning. If you don’t have it, they usually leave it on a recording on their regular number or have a redirection service.

I am worried that my cat is lonely.,?

I have a cat that i will leave at home when i go to my boyfriends for the night. I have a roommate and she has a cat so my cat is not alone but i worry that my cat will miss me. I have been reading that Siamese get very lonely..

It's really hot out and I'm worried about my cat?

The single most important thing you can do is make sure he always has plenty of access to water. When he sprawls out on the floor it is often because the floor is cooler and by sprawling the largest amount of his body is in contact with the floor, transferring heat away from his body. If you have a basement/cellar in your housing, make sure he can access it, such areas are cooler and he can retreat to it if necessary. If you don't have a basement or cellar, make sure he can access a non-carpeted area (like bathroom tile or linoleum kitchen floor so he can do the sprawling on the coolest surface possible).

Should I be worried if my cat's paws are swollen?

You should be concerned--are all four paws swollen, or just one--check the pads of the paws and make sure a claw hasn't grown into them. Is there any odor, if there is, the paw is probably infected, and the cat needs to see a vet soon, so the infection does not spread. The cat could have sprained or stressed or have broken bones in it's paws--so a vet visit sounds like it may be in order.

My cat seems really bloated, he has diabetes so im really worried?

Any changes with a diabetic kitty should be checked by his vet immediately!

From what you have said, you have 2 issues: weight/bloating and not eating properly. The weight gain or bloating can be any number of problems...from an gastrointestinal upset to fluid retention. Fluid retention is not good in a non-diabetic kitty, let alone one that is diabetic.

As for the eating and vomiting, if kitty is not eating properly, it is difficult to administer his insulin. Kitties and humans that are insulin dependent must eat for the insulin to work efficiently. Too much insulin can send him into a hypoglycemic state which is very dangerous and can be fatal.

Have you found the website Feline Diabetes? It is a wonderful site with a message board of other diabetic kitty caretakers. You can search the board for situations you are having with your kitty or post your own questions. A veterinarian monitors the board.

But for the problems kitty is having now, please contact his vet for advice and/or to arrange an appointment. Having treated a diabetic kitty for nearly 6 years, I know it is stressful and challenging, but for kitty's sake so very much worth the effort!

Purrs to you and your sugar-baby.

I am constantly worried about my cat.

I totally understand! I've lost many pets and after the first few passing on, I couldn't take the constant stress of fearing the day my other's would pass. (I've always had multiple pets.) That is when I started realizing, after a particularly special cat of mine died of pancreatic cancer, that I needed to just make sure they knew they were loved and take some steps to relieve my own anxiety about leaving them. If you happen to be a spiritual person, prayer is very effective. I pray for my pets every day when I leave the house and make sure, before I go, that they get love and praise. Knowing they are cared for and happy, I am less stressed about leaving them. If they should die, they would die knowing they were loved and had a happy life. That is the best any of us can hope for.

I really want to buy a rocking chair, but I'm worried my cat’s tail might get squished accidentally, what's your advice?

Rocking chairs are just one of so many dangers to cats. I would create a safe environment for a cat just as I would for a toddler. Yes, they may both learn from experience….if they survive, but why take a chance with your loved ones, human or animal. There are many ways that indoor cats have accidents that kill them. I recently read an article on POC PoC about a dozen ways to accidentally kill your indoor cat, but now I can’t seem to find it.Some things included cats being un-noticed in the dryer, before tossing clothes in and turning it on.Cords from Xmas trees, cat toys, or other things wrapped around their neckBeing crushed in reclinersJumping on hot stoves, or in hot ovens when door is openedMaimed or killed from fan belts when starting a car with a cat inside the hoodPoisoned by toxic plants, foods, or common products we use in our homesDrowning in kid’s pools when they can get outElectrocuted by chewing on a live wireChocking on tinsel from Xmas trees. Don’t use it if you have cats!Hot irons left unsupervised-place face down on your stove top when done or taking a breakBack to your question, I think a “glider” is safest, as one Quoran has answered. Please don’t take a chance that your cat “will learn”. Children learn that stoves are hot, but why let them suffer burns? Would you allow this to happen to your child?
