Reasons For Joining An Internet Muslim Group Forum

Why are so many Internet forums toxic?

The main reason is because people, when they get online, it's a lot like alcohol. Their inhibitions melt away, and they feel more free to be themselves, and say things that they usually keep under wraps, because saying them in person is un-pc, or just not nice, but online? They feel no need to censor themselves. The internet provides some sense of anonymity, and a feeling of being safe to be yourself. Now, many forums are themed, or lean one way or the other, and let's say you find a forum that is right or left leaning. You're surrounded by people who share your beliefs, and that by itself encourages more…radical and steadfast support of whatever causes you believe in. So if an outsider comes in, who disagrees with your system of beliefs, they are more likely to be met with a deluge of toxicity. All groups are like that, the left, the right, the meninists and MGTOW, feminists, Christians, muslims, all groups can and do spew toxicity when they are online. It's just in our nature to put ourselves into like minded groups, and to vehemently defend that group, with some pretty angry, and toxic means.I used to think that maybe it was just a “highschool” mentality. But I've learned it's more than that. It stays with us all our lives. It's just a natural habit to want to be part of a group, and feel included in something, and when we find that group, we feel more willing to defend it, or spread its views as far as possible. Unfortunately, too many times, that ends up being in a bad way, and very few people are able to remain detached, or respectful. Especially when they feel they have the support of so many like minded people. Much like alcohol can be referred to liquid courage, giving people the belief that they can start a fight with someone twice their size, the internet can also be referred to as digital courage, giving people the “courage" to say and do things that they normally would not do or say.

How do I join a forum on FanFiction.Net?

You don't actually join a forum. You can post a reply on a forum but you can't actually become a member of it.

To post in a forum go to the author's profile page. At the top here will be a 'my forums' link. Click on it. On the next page, if the author as a lot of interests, there will be a blueish box displaying the different forums they have. Click on the one you like. On the next page will be another blueish box displaying a list of topics within the forum. These are threads. Click on the one you like. Read through all the comments. When you come across one you want to comment on click on 'reply.' It's a blue link in the lower right corner. From there you will go to a screen that has a box to type your reply in. What you are replying to is in a box at the bottom of the screen. There are options to adjust the text above the textbox. Below the textbox on the left is a button that says 'preview.' It has an eye in it. On the right there is a 'post reply' box. You're done! It takes about 5 minutes for the reply to show up on the screen.

Where can I find online forums where Muslims, Christians, atheists, agnostics and skeptics can get together and discuss and critique each others religions in a thoughtful, respectful and rational matter?

There are plenty of sites where people of many faiths get along and discuss issues, but there isn't a public forum for people to sit around and "critique" other peoples religions that I have ever seen. If one has questions about another religion then one could Google "multi-faith" with their local town name and likely find a place where people of multiple faiths meet, and I imagine most would be happy to answer questions. But seeing as how faith is based on faith, and is rarely a rational decision. There's nothing to gain by critiquing other peoples stubbornly held beliefs in the interest of changing them. Most religious friends I have will freely admit that they hold their beliefs blindly and without rational consideration, and in that case argument is futile. And as long as my friends aren't senators I don't have any issue with what they believe and why.

Should the American government censor the internet to protect us?

How can you be sure that they don't already !

In any event, censorship of any kind goes against fundamental values of freedom. But in extreme cases of incite and hate, I think respective governments do invoke cyberlaws, as indeed they should.
But some "host" countries/(servers) of some terrible sites continue unchecked.Wonder why.
Stormfront is hateful and racist, but nothing compared to some hate sites that exhort people to kill non believers..
or even provide information on how to manufacture killing devices.
I, for one, think such information should be banned. In the wrong (or even foolish) hands, such information can wreak havoc.
I also agree with the user that says that there should be no place for promoting things such as pedophilia either. If a certain thing is illegal, surely promoting it is illegal ! This does not go against a common man's freedom or rights.
If selling drugs on the streets is illegal, selling it on an internet website should be illegal.

But if the act in itself is unethical but not illegal - such as hating a religion. Then, a website providing a discussion forum might be seen as improper but not illegal or worthy of a ban.

Why there are so many misogynists on Internet?

-Sigh-

Listen, missy. If you cannot handle the internet, then leave it. Everyone else can't be bothered with your BS.

The truth is, everyone gets targeted in a rude manner due to the groups they belong in. Whites, blacks, Asians, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, men, and so on. But the second a woman is targeted for the "same" behaviour everyone else has to deal with, then it becomes a big deal? Do women such as yourself honestly not see why men want places where females are not allowed so they can hang around and have a good time? It's exactly this. If the same behaviour that happens to everyone else happens to you, a woman, then it is such a big deal, it means everyone is a misogynist.

As for Facebook, are you serious? My page is filled with all these annoying pages where women upload pictures that actually say things like this, and I quote "A boy becomes a man when he hugs the girl that just hit him"...A boy only becomes a man if they hug a woman that just assaulted them.

Not only that, but Facebook is filled with groups such as "Men are stupid, throw rocks at them", and "Women are better", and so on. So don't even try to say Facebook is filled with misogynists when there are no groups that are like that aimed towards women.

Joke about homosexuals, blacks, Asians, whites, Christians, Muslims, and so on. But dare treat women with the same treatment everyone else has "OH LORD!".

Tell me again why men would "not" hate the majority of women with such a mentality? Because if anything, it is mentality like this that women have that increasingly make me dislike them.

How come the Muslim religion causes so much Terrorism?

This is an honest question. This isn’t troll bait or a troll attempt. Within the past century Islamic extremist groups are considered the top offenders of terrorism by a land slide. People don’t understand the actual extent of this. They are only familiar with Al Khalid and the Taliban. They don’t know about Abu Sayyaf & the Muslim Islamic Liberation Front in the Philippines or the small militia groups in Indonesia, hell most people just learned today that even Russia has Muslim ties with extremist issues. Yet you never hear about Catholics abducting people or Lutherans cutting heads off. The worst we have is the Westboro Baptist church.

I realize the Muslim religion is centered around peace and it obviously doesn't endorse violence but how come its associated with it so much? Yeah, yeah I’ve listen to that heart lifting speech about the actions of the few don't reflect the actions of the many blah blah blah. The truth of the matter is that we don’t really know how many Islamic followers actually share these radical views. Many is Afghanistan say they don’t but actually do and which is why the insurgency is so strong. I'm not trying to look down on anybodies religion on spread hate. I'm just trying to understand why so much violence is associated with this religion opposed to others.

Is there an online muslim community for sisters to communicate?

Salam alaykum respected brothers and sisters. I am a 28 year old woman. I have been learning about islam, I reverted in January this year alhamdullilah, but I live in a country where the muslim community is practically non existant and they are so difficult to approach. I have been trying to look for muslim women communities online where you can interact with each other and everything but haven't found any, only one and none of the links to register worked.
I am wondering if you know about a site where I can communicate with muslim sisters? thank you.

What do you think about the Freethinkers Forum in Kerala and do similar organisations exist in other Indian states?

Speakers of the Freethinker forum often use vulgar slangs and uncouth means of debating using lies and hate speech against religions and its adherents. They accuse religions of violence and deception, and ironically, resort to lies and hate speech themselves. They thrive on Islamophobic literatures and turn a blind eye to counter arguments of Islamic scholars. Therefore, what happens is they keep chanting those old and cliched anti-Islamic rhetoric, how much flawed their claims may be.If you think they won’t stoop too low, few years back an event was organised by rationalists against the “Dangers of male circumcision” to prove Islam is not compatible with modern world. They must have really run out of topics to come up with such absurd ideas. These cheap tactics has helped them to get some of the sceptic minds to abandon their faith. They put momentary pleasure and individuality above all and doesn’t value family ties and spirituality. Marriage for them is a primitive religious custom which is outdated and unfit for the present society.Interestingly some years back the rationalist organisation broke into two groups. A group of pro-capitalists broke away from KYS and formed a new organisation called the esSENSE. I said this to show that beneath the glittery cover there is the crux of selfishness and greed.Nevertheless, some useful efforts against religious exploitations and pseudo-scientific claims have gathered them popularity among academic circles.
