Receding Hairline At Age 18

Receding hairline aged 18?

Hi, I'm 18 years old and my hairline is getting really bad. It seems to be receding so fast, I already have a really noticeable widow's peak, although I do my bets to cover it be keeping my hair medium length. Before long it's going to be too bad to cover, and I'm FRIKKING 18 MAN. I've got enough going against me at the minute, losing my hair is one thing I just cannot cope with. Does anyone here have any experience of stopping their hairline from receding? No problems with baldness on top, I just need the hairline to not get any worse! Any of the medications actually genuinely work? I heard one (can't remember which) worked on 90% of men, but I really don't want to just trust a website and splash my money on it. I'm already starting to eat more healthily and drink water, not sure what difference it will make though. There is no pattern of baldness in my family except for my Dad, other relatives and grandparents have kept a full head of hair.
Also, is it possible that my hair will recede for a while then stop naturally and stay like that, or once it has started receding does that mean you are genetically programmed to go fully bald?

PLEASE HELP ME.
Thankyou

I'm 18 and have a receding hairline?

Well, a lot of guys get a receding hairline as they grow out of their teens. It is normal. However, if you think the hair has receded more than what appears a normal 17 year-old's hairline, then it is probably something else. There can be genetic factors or genuine medical reasons (such as a thyroid deficiency) that can cause hair loss, so speak to your doctor and see if they can rule out any other health problems. If it is due to other health problems, once they are addressed, the hair should grow back. If the doctor cannot identify any other reason, it is probably genetic hair loss. If that is the case, be thankful you are losing it when you are still young. If you lost your hair when you were 30, it would have been a lot harder to deal with because you will probably know a lot of people by then, and sometimes it is very hard to face people you know with less and less hair. If you go bald now, by the time you are twenty, everyone would accept that's just the way you look, and in some ways, it would be easier to deal with. Young guys with a shaved head look a lot cooler than a forty year old who always had hair. Think about that, and don't feel depressed. There are plenty of people who have hair and still look like idiots. In the end, it really only matters how you live your life, and whether you enjoy the time you have. Those are the things that will define you, and those are the things people will remember you for. No one will care if you had hair or not.

Receding hairline at 18?

My hairline started to lightly recede when I was 17 and I had still thick hair then but I'm 18 now and the M shape on my crown is very noticeable, my dad didn't start going bald until he was in his early 30's, someone please give me something other than "just embrace it" or "shave it all off" because it's ruining my image and my self esteem, I feel like I'm deteriorating already

Is it normal to have a receding hair line at age 18?

I'm 19 and I've noticed some recession around my temples as well, nothing you can really notice, but very noticeable to me. I'm absolutely freaking out as well, and because I have a fairly large head I get really uncomfortable buzzing it down, however that may be your best option.

You could start by washing your hair with Nizoral 1% a few times a week, this has been proven to fight hair loss, however, it isn't going to be very effective.

Products like Rogaine won't really help you, they're mainly used for a thinning crown which you may experience later in life.

The most controversial yet effective option may be Propecia. I recently got a prescription for this, however, I haven't decided whether I'd take it. There are many side effects including Erectile Dysfunction, although only effecting a small minority, is enough to get anyone worried, so it's a very personal decision and I'm not too sure I'd do it.

If it's only in its minor stages, either buzz it down, or grow your hair out. You'll still have many years of hair left and there is no guarantee that your hair will get worse. In fact, most mens hairlines mature into an adult hairline, but unfortunately you never know if it will continue receding...a problem i'm experiencing now.

Just enjoy life.

Men: At what age did your hairline begin to recede?

All depends on genetics. I am 50 and have not started, really don't expect too- my barber complains all the time he has to thin my hair even to cut it. But I have friends that were obviously receding at 18, and recently was picking up my 15 yr old at school, and one of her classmates that was working the front office was already receding a lot-earliest I had ever seen it (I asked her to make sure how old the kid was, it was so surprising). So depends on genetics and can be any age, I work with a guy who is nearly 60 and he is receding a bit, but no more than the younger guys I was mentioning.

Receding hairline at 18, is that normal ?

I'm 18 years old and have thick, brown hair, recently I've noticed I have what appears to be a receding hairline, I asked my mother about this but she said I've always had this, although I was bugging her about it so she could'v just been telling me what I wanted to hear.

Anyway my question is, is it normal to have a receding hairline at that age ? Is there a higher chance of me going bald because I have one at this age ?

I'm kind of freaking out.
