How can I successfully conduct a cricket tournament?

The following steps can be followed in order to organise a successful Cricket Tournament:    First of all, the type of the tournament should be decided - it can be a T20 tournament, a 35-over tournament, a  50-over tournament, a 2/3-day tournament or a 5-day one, depending upon how long you want the tournament to last    Next, you need to invite teams to play in your tournament. That can be done by means of posters/banners or by word of mouth. You can keep a fixed Registration Amount for each team to participate. Now, depending upon the number of teams that have registered, you can decide the format of the tournament, which can be either a League, League+Knockout or purely a Knockout.    If there are 8/16/32 teams, a league+knockout format is usually preferred, because every team gets enough chances to prove themselves first and then the best teams battle it out to decide the winner. This format also has a few cons, mainly related to group-formation. Sometimes, many good teams are placed in the same group that reduces chances of better teams proceeding to further rounds. So, team-grouping should be checked if the team quality is known.    After deciding the format and grouping teams, a fixed schedule should be created so that there is no or minimal confusion regarding match-timings.Deciding a venue : Large grounds/fields as well as car garages can be venues for Cricket Tournaments, depending on the format. Beach Cricket is also a popular option these days.   Rules for the tournament may also be customised, depending on how much area you have available for matches to take place. Box cricket is an interesting variant that is getting popular nowadays.    Umpires can be rented on a daily basis for the tournament, which would give a more professional look to the tournament and would remove any kind of bias, as such.   A scoreboard should ideally be present near the scorers, so that the players and the umpire(s) can keep note of them from time to time.   Regarding prizes for tournament-winners : People these days ask for sponsorship from other organisations who would like to market themselves. It is a win-win situation for both sides as the organisers' management costs get covered and the companies who market themselves produce a chance of attracting customers. Moreover, if you want to make some profit from the tournament, you can rent food stalls so that the players and crowd can get some refreshments from time to time and you can mint some money :)

Why don't International cricket council conduct cricket matches with players who are retired from their career?

I don't see that happening in the near future but the retired cricketers do play for friendly charity matches. Just to let you know , Sachin and Warne are bringing cricket to USA next month. It's an all star match featuring many retired legends. Do watch it :)

What do you think about Sarfraz Ahmed's racist comment towards Andile Phehlukwayo? What kind of punishment should he deserve?

Racism is being dealt with no leniency by the ICC for a long time .Citing an example,South African cricket team was banned for the same reasons of promoting racism and due to their apartheid rules . ( Playing against white nations and only white players will represent South Africa )In 1970 , ICC voted to suspend South Africa from playing cricket until further notice .In 1991 , they were again given an opportunity to play cricket . This match was at Calcutta India .A severe yet deserved ban for South Africa to promote sportsmanspirit and alleviate racism .Now , to the question itself . What happened yesterday ?South Africa VS Pakistan ODI in DurbanSouth Africa was chasing a meagre 203 and Pakistan was losing grip over the match with Phehlukwayo and Van Dussen were in the middle of a great partnership saving South Africa from a top order collapse at 5/80.In the 37th over the chase, Sarfraz was caught on the stump mic saying ,"Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya parwa ke aaye hai aaj?" (Hey black guy, where's your mother sitting today? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?)When I heard it my first reaction was No , he might have said it to his own team mate . He will never make such a shallow statement about Phehlukwayo . But ,to my and everyone else’s amazement it was directed towards Phehlukwayo only .( who later was adjudged Man of the match )Even the on-air commentator Mike Haysman sought the literal translation of what Sarfraz had said,Ramiz Raja was heard saying ,"Difficult really to translate that. It's a big long sentence".I think this was a very serious statement and ICC should ban him for a duration falling under the rules . Otherwise , anyone might think they will get away with such statements easily .Look what South Africa had to suffer because of the racist morals . I think Sarfaraz will suffer the same fate with a ban of “n” years for sure .He is in grave danger . Now its just about time , trust me a bomb is waiting to explode !!!!!! ICC might pull the pin off any moment .
