HOW CAN I GET VERBAL EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS ON MY COMPUTER?

Assuming you're using Yahoo Mail ...
You can use a feature within Yahoo Messenger. Bring up Yahoo Messenger, select Login -> Preferences. From the left pane select Alerts and Sounds. From there you can set a handful of functions to whatever audio clip you want.

I should also point out that I'm running an older version of Messenger (5.6). Yahoo keeps asking me to upgrade but I don't want all that new stuff. To be quite honest the Alerts and Sounds is my primary reason for using Messenger. So Yahoo may have moved or changed how one sets up their Alerts and Sounds then what I described above.

BTW, if you use Outlook it also has the ability to use custom audio clips. I use Outlook at work so I don't have access to it right now but if I recall it's either within the Customize or Options dialogs.

Problems with false email notification?

I have a yahoo email address and also use messenger. I have my yahoo email as default on my cell and it checks it automatically. For the last couple of weeks, I am getting false notifications on both my cell and when I log into email/messenger on my laptop. As an example, the email icon on my phone currently shows 1 email, but my notification screen has beeped several times today telling me I have a new email. It currently says I have 12 new emails. The icon is only showing 1. I just got home and logged into messenger on my laptop and it said I had 12 emails. When I went to my inbox, I had 1. I can check email on my phone and clear the notification screen. Within a few minutes, it all starts over again slowly adding another about an hour later.

Could someone please tell me what is going on? It is starting to get annoying to hear the notification tones only to find nothing there. I have my spam filter set up on my email and all is working well. I have turned the phone off and back on only to have it do it again. I know it isn't a phone issue or I wouldn't have the same issue on my laptop when I log in. Thanks,

Why am I getting no notifications I've checked and resaved the settings?

As the many other questions that have been asked about this issue (beginning early last week), here in this category, indicate...Notifications is down for some users and we don't know why. About the time some users started to ask about it being down, other users were still getting notifications on their YA page ( https://answers.yahoo.com/notifications ). I'm getting them myself.

Notification emails for the site have been down for many months, other than a brief period this past spring, and a brief moment last week (I got an email notice on 8/3 that one of my answers was reported, but nothing since then). I'm not sure if anyone is still receiving the email notifications or not.

No one here knows what the reason for the notifications being down is or when they'll be working again. Sorry. Just another glitch/issue we have to live with until it's fixed.

Ebay has sent me an invoice notification what is that?

Ebay do send emails like this every month to sellers telling you what fees are due and when they will be deducted from your bank account. They always include your name not just your Ebay username so you know its genuine. Just check in your Messages Inbox, it will have the heading "Ebay invoice notification".

Have you listed items for sale in the past few weeks? You have to pay an insertion fee even if the item does not sell.

I received an email today and have copied it here so you can see

Why do I get "You may have new messages" notification on WhatsApp?

Data Saver is new feature in Android 7.We will soon see more and more applications making use of it, behaving such way to save data for user if enabled. It is ment to be a less aggressive approach than Background Data restriction (which you get with Battery Saver mode). With Data Saver on, WhatsApp behaves such that it gets the notification of a new message but it won't automatically download the content of it (being plain text, an image an audio or a video) which normally does by default setting (some content types can be restricted to WiFi in app’s settings). As an analogy, if you are familiar with emails, when you get a new email the header gets downloaded first. That contains only the title, from where you received it, and in some cases a reduced version of the content of the actual email. When you open it, then it will download the full email body, like: the fonts, images, hyperlinks, and the full HTML code.Nowday most email programs will let you chose (if not default already) to download the full email prior to opening them. This is because Data connections got faster and storages larger since the beginning of emails and since the beginning internet itself. For more in detail view of how WhatsApp gets that notification (which ports are being used and/or new protocol) I don't know, but it would be interesting to research.Update: I've noticed WhatsApp implemented this behaviour even on phones without Data Saver support. It happens when internet connection is too weak to get the contents and it automatically steps down to only notify for new messages. The analogy still stands!

Delivery Status Notification (Failure)?!?!?

Can somebody please tell me why I keep receiving a message in my inbox saying "Postmaster@Hotmail.com -Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" when I have checked and double checked the address that I am am trying to send an e-mail to and I have not misspelled anything what-so-ever.

Facebook help! What can I do about my Facebook notifications?

I hope someone can help me. I get Facebook notifications via email. Some of them are from friends I don t even have checked for notifications. Is there a way I can fix this without fully unsubscribing notifications from Facebook?

Im getting emails saying, Delivery Status Notification (Failure)?

Check the person's email address perhaps it is typed wrong or maybe they closed their email account or maybe their inbox is full. Maybe the email service they are using is incompatible with the one you are using, hotmail. Sometimes I have trouble sending mail from hotmail to yahoo or to some completely foreign email service provider. Check all these things and that should fix your problem.

What is this Quora? Why am I getting notifications and friends of mine following me when I haven't set this up?

This was (is) a problem on Twitter. People (or bots) would create fake profiles by stealing identity information from real people.I know this, as I've found fake accounts with my name and some of my unique bio information! My name is “Google Unique” (I've found no other living Adam Gering). The account was active, tweeting and following people, and replying to people.I investigated and it seems this is really a thing (cloning people). I'm not sure the ultimate goal (spam or con games), but it's seemed to be done at scale (automated and mostly indiscriminate) rather than being very targeted. Frighteningly, however, it also seems to be a long game; the accounts attempt to appear legitimate and build a following. I say it's untargeted as they attempt only to be a valid and active account, they don't attempt to literally impersonate the victim of the identity theft (or at least not immediately). There was a very targeted version of this scam around 2008, whereby people would clone users on IM platforms, but target active poker players, and ask their friends for a loan of chips on the poker sites.

What about the friend suggestions that come as notifications? Did someone suggest that person to me as a friend or did Facebook make it randomly?

If someone suggested it - Facebook includes that as part of the notification, i.e. Your Friend Bob suggested you and John Smith should be friends.Otherwise the suggestions from Facebook are made based on finding something you have in common with the suggested friend. Previous work place, schools, list of friends, hometown, current town, same groups, like the same pages - other people suggest that Facebook will suggest people who “stalk” your account. Not true. If anything Facebook would suggest it to the stalker but not the stalkee.
