Recipes For Oral Surgery Recovery Aside From Just Smoothies

What to eat after an Oral Surgery?

soft, easy to digest foods are the best thing to eat after oral surgery, especially within the first few days. On the day of surgery, sticking with water, tea, and juice can be a good idea. These neutral foods will sit well with the lingering anesthesia in the body. Staying hydrated is also important for a quick healing time. A doctor may also recommend that a patient use a mild salt rinse after eating, to ensure that no food particles are left in the mouth.

Soft foods are the name of the game after oral surgery. There are a number of deliciously varied soft foods ranging from rich eggnog to plain applesauce which patients can eat after oral surgery. Some of the choices include yogurt, smoothies, thin soups, broth, soft fruit, sorbet, ice cream, pudding, Jell-O®, and well-cooked rice. Cold foods like ice cream and sorbet can help with mouth pain, while pureed foods and drinks are easy to swallow, even after painful oral surgery. It is important to strive for a balance of protein and fiber when patients eat after oral surgery, since the temptation is to stick with foods like juice, which do not provide the necessary nutrition.

To get more fiber from the foods you eat after oral surgery, make smoothies with whole fresh fruit, and eat soft fruits such as bananas. Brown rice or other whole grains can be eaten as well, as long as they are thoroughly cooked. Some patients prefer to puree substances like these, to ensure that grains do not get stuck in the mouth. Protein can be provided in the form of carefully cut-up eggs and dairy products, along with nutrition drinks. Many companies such as Ensure make high calorie nutrition drinks to support the elderly and cancer patients. These beverages may not always taste superb, but they are packed with nutrition.

What's good to Eat After Oral Surgery?

I had a similar situation when my wisdom teeth were removed. It was major surgery done in a hospital under general anesthesia. They had to stitch up my gums afterwards.

I ate a lot of yogurt. It's more substantial then jello. Cottage cheese, too. And I would get the frozen macaroni and cheese in the black plastic tray, cook it, wait until it was totally cool (because I was really sensitive to heat) and mash it up with my fork. That was a real treat. You can try some scrambled eggs, mashed up with your fork, or a soft-boiled egg (but some people don't like that.) Mashed potatoes is good, too.

I hope you're feeling better really soon and able to eat a bag of hot, spicy and crunchy... stuff!

What recipes are recommended to a person who will undergo dental treatment for 4 months that would still create a complete diet from every food group?

You could make him a lot of liquid/semi-solid things to eat covering almost all nutrient requirements. I speak as a vegetarian, but I am sure you could think up nutritional non-veg recipes using chicken stock and your imagination ( I have no clue about this aspect!)1. Fruit juices made from orange, apple, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes etc.2. Milk shakes with banana, mango, strawberries...3. Vegetable soup with lentil (dal) added for protein, tomato soup with carrot, celery, cinnamon and pepper.4. Homemade paneer from milk curdled with lime juice/yoghurt. Add the whey to soups.5. Light plain custard to whet the sweet tooth :-)6. Mashed boiled potatoes softened with milk and butter with salt, pepper and mustard paste for taste.7. You could introduce well-cooked mashed khichdi at a later stage (of dal, rice and Dalia - crumbled wheat) and add finely cut vegetables like carrot, beans and tomatoes at the time of pressure cooking itself.8. Slowly introduce mashed vegetables with potatoes in the form of tikkis (shallow fried cutlets).9. He could have soft toast dipped in soup or milk.10. Ice cream! No dental surgery is complete without this staple "dentists delight"!I sure hope these will make recovery a breeze for your father! Good wishes...

What are the best foods to eat after root canal surgery?

Depends on which tooth was treated.all you really have to do is not eat with that tooth. If it is a molar, chew on the other side of your mouth. If it is a front tooth, don’t go eating applesif you have yet to get the crown for your root canal treated tooth, be mindful that since it no longer has a nerve, it will dry and become brittle over time. That is why a full coverage crown is recommended to prevent the crown of the tooth from being shattered by eating hard foodsif you were thinking of cracking walnuts with your tooth Tonight while watching Netflix, Please don’t.Don’t chew unpopped popcorn kernels or anything else where you need a great deal of force to bite down

What food can I eat after sinus surgery? It should not be spicy or hot food.

Hello!!!I hope your surgery went well!! There's no need to worry about a change in diet for long, as after the second day following your surgery, you can resume your old diet. However some foods I would recommend are: warm porridge (it should be warm not hot), mashed potato/yam/cauliflower/sweet potato/pumpkin is also a good one, steamed vegetables ( they should be soft so it doesn’t strain any muscles), low fat Greek yogurt is good just as long as you don’t have too much as it can be strong, and warmed up fruits (like apples, pears, berries, etc.).Making your food warm and soft will relax your muscles, allowing you to eat them without causing harm to your sinuses. You can add butter to the mashed potato if you want, but you don’t have to. Make sure that the food isn’t too hot before eating it. If you burn or strain your sinuses, it will cause a lot of damage. If your looking for sweet foods, chocolate isn’t a very good one. You can still eat it, but you don’t want just that. It can strain your sinuses when eating, or become sticky and make you have to wash your mouth out, which would ultimately affect your sinuses. You could try low fat ice cream, low fat sorbet, warm fruit, and mashed fruit in general. Also, drinking lots of water will keep you hydrated as well as keep your mouth from feeling dry. A dry mouth can strain your sinuses as well as irritate them, so just keep drinking water.Different surgeries have different outcomes though, so it would be best to ask your doctor or surgeon as well. You could write a list of foods that were recommended and then show it to them to see if they agree. As someone who hasn’t had this surgery I don’t know exactly what it feels like or exactly what will hurt your sinuses or not. I just got recommended this question and thought that I could use the knowledge I had to try help. A family member of mine has had this surgery and these are some of the foods they ate, so that is my credibility.I hope this answered your question!! Thanks for reading,Bye!!!

What should I eat after dental implant surgery?

For the first 24 hours after your surgery, your teeth/jaw will need some time off. Therefore, smoothies, low-fat jello/puddings, and cold soups will be the most beneficial for your healing process. It is extremely important to refrain from using a straw, as the sucking causes excess strain, which ultimately can delay the healing process. Here are a few recommendations:Banana Mango Shake− A healthy, filling way to start the day after your surgery. Also, bananas help replace electrolytes and maintain fluid balance within your body.Applesauce- You can’t eat apples, but this is the next best thing!Tomato Soup- A great snack even when your mouth isn’t sensitive.Cold Pasta- Ever tried a Sun-Dried Tomato Basil Orzo? Might be the perfect time to expand your taste buds!Next Few WeeksOver the next few weeks, you will start easing into enjoying solid foods again. Here are some tasty transitional foods (some can even help the healing process!)Broccoli Omelet: Who would’ve thought thathealing from oral surgery could be so healthy? Broccoli contains enough calcium to speed up the healing process, and the eggs provide enough protein to make this a fully substantial meal while taking it easy on your teeth/jaw.Chicken Salad: Finally some real meat! Chicken that is chopped up into small pieces can be eaten with a salad, or even a cold pasta. The chicken provides the protein, while the salad (with soft vegetables) provides the healthy goodness.Chicken Pesto Pasta: Believe it or not, this dish can prevent oral infection. The basil in pesto contains volatile oils, which can protect the mouth from oral bacteria. The last thing your mouth needs after oral surgery is oral bacteria.Tooth Implant Sydney - Affordable & High Quality Dental Implants

Foods I can eat after wisdom tooth removal?

Had all four extracted yesterday and obviously I might be a little hungry. I just had a little but of vanilla ice cream, the first thing I've had since the night before my surgery. I think I may want to move on to other foods, but I can't open my mouth much.
I think I want to try tomato basil soup but I read somewhere that some soups you should stay away from, and I'm not sure if tomato basil is good or bad?
I also have a few other soups (frozen) mashed potatoes, ingredients for a fruit smoothie, and that's about it. Otherwise, I can just order delivery from nearby restaurants that have the food I can eat.
Suggestions?

How does one make a tasty smoothie without adding a juice or milk base?

Here is a website with many recipes for smoothies and other beverages. Most of them use a non-dairy milk such as soy milk, almond milk, rice milk, or coconut milk. Some use only fruits with some water or ice. Here is an example, but please visit the website for more:

Fruit Slurpees
Recipe by: Mary
http://fatfreevegan.com/blog/2010/03/09/...

We make watermelon “slurpees” all summer long. Ice + watermelon (plus a couple of spoonfuls of water to get it going )in the blender makes a yummy treat. You don’t even have to remove the seeds; they sink to the bottom of your cup. (And if you do drink a few little bits, whats a little extra fiber anyway…?) Oranges and other juicy citrus are nice, too. I also like apples + berries.

Smoothies are even good if the fruit is starting to get a little old; you don’t notice that they’re not quite in their prime (like when the watermelon starts to get a little mealy). But best of all is a mango slush. Freeze the mango and then blend it with a little ice and a couple of spoonfuls of water. Decadently creamy. Much better than ice cream! My kids love it.

I just got my wisdom teeth out yesterday...WHAT can I eat?

These are the best foods to eat after wisdom teeth are pulled:
ice cream
frozen yogurt
cold applesauce
mashed potatoes
cold tomato soup
non-frozen yogurt
cold pudding
If you want to get nutrients, drink a cold health shake throughout the day - such as Ensure or Slim Fast
Congee is a one-of-a-kind rice: cook with a lot of water to boil. For better taste, you can also cook it with some chopped meat (very soft meat). Add some soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper powder, or salt. If you would like it sweet, add a tablespoon of concentrated milk to the mixture.

Taking Care of Your Mouth after the Extractions

DO NOT RINSE THE MOUTH THE VERY FIRST DAY - After this, rinse mouth gently every 3 to 4 hours (especially after meals) using one-quarter of salt to a glass of warm water. Continue rinses for several days after the pulling.

BLEEDING - Bleeding is to be expected. If persistent bleeding occurs, place gauze pads over bleeding area and bite down firmly for one-half hour. Repeat if necessary.

SWELLING - Ice bag or chopped ice wrapped in a towel should be applied to the cheeks (half-hour on and half-hour off) for 4-5 hours after the pulling.

PAIN - For mild to average pain, use any non-aspirin type medication, OR take the prescribed medication your dentist recommended or gave you.

FOOD - Light diet is advised during the first 24 hours after and must be cold - do not eat warm or hot foods or liquids.

BONEY EDGES - Small sharp bone fragments may work up through the gums during healing. These are not roots; if annoying, return to the dentist office for their simple removal.

IF ANY UNUSUAL SYMPTOMS OCCUR, CALL YOUR DENTIST AT ONCE! THE PROPER CARE FOLLOWING ORAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES WILL HASTEN YOUR RECOVERY AND PREVENT ANY NEEDLESS COMPLICATIONS FROM FORMING.

DON'T BE STUPID AND SMOKE JUST BECAUSE YOU CRAVE A CIGARETTE! THIS WILL CAUSE * DRY SOCKET *
