Recommend Music To Broaden My Horizons

Need to broaden my musical horizon?

In the End by Linkin Park
I Believe I can Fly by R Kelly
Real Muthphukkin Gs by Eazy-E

How can I broaden my music horizons?

First of all: listen a lot to a radioOften people find new songs and bands via a radiostation, which they find entertaining. But most importantly, and this is for music in general, you have to be open minded. If you aren't open minded you won't find many things in life enjoying this is the same with music... So in conclusion: you have to be open minded, otherwise you won't achieve said goal

Eye-opener or Broaden my horizon?

Suppose that I have never been to America before, and luckily I get chance to visit many places of interest in America free: like the Yellow stone national park, the Grand Canyon, the statue of liberty, the Empire state building... How do I describe the effects of the trips on me? Can I say they are eye-openers for me or broaden my horizon? Thanks

How popular are Bring Me the Horizon's music?

In the realm of the rock/metal (especially Metalcore) scene, they are pretty popular. While the band is popular, they are still beat out by many of their contemporaries, like Linkin Park (a very popular band) and I'd even say Disturbed, who just released a new album today over iTunes I think. I'm waiting to get the physical copy however. If you are looking at their popularity overall, not very. They aren't pop, light rock, rap, or electronic. So, they can be popular but not the type of popular where everyone knows who they are. Of course; the way music is set up, radio play isn't everything anymore for popularity. With programs like iTunes, Spotify, and Pandora, it's easier to become popular despite playing a relatively unpopular genre. And if you go into a store like Hot Topic, BMTH is probably pretty popular there. Personally, I'm not much of a fan of the Metalcore music. But I previewed a couple of their new songs from their new album and it seems like decent metal music. Might give them a try, at least the songs that don't have the scream/yell vocals. Can't remember the song names I heard, but I remember thinking I might be wrong about not liking this band (at least, some of their songs).

Have you ever gotten tired or grown out of a music genre, if so, which ones were they, and what replaced them?

I’ve never fallen out of liking a genre, but for 16 years straight i always hated country and would complain when my dad and sister would listen to it when I was around and my mom wasnt a fan either. Then when i graduated high school it was right when myspace was coming up but not huge yet and before this I didnt get out much the only time i soent with people my age was in school, afterwards I spent only around my older siblings friends or adults so there wasnt much peer “pressure”, or anyone to give me music recommendations but still i NEVER got into country. Then i decided since there was a large “music” side to myspace after my sister had new friends come over and asked if we knew what the site was… no clue but we made accounts and fast forward i decided to find music founded near me via search and before Id listen to mainstream pop, i vaguely remember some others like MCR, i randomly was asked to put some TBS on my ssiters friends mixtape, all the music I knew of otherwise was on TRL & maybe other MTV shows, etc. but my favorites also included Simple Plan and Good Charlotte, but back to “genres” i was mainly Pop(until i was 16). In my myspace search i decided to look at pop girls mostly but ended up finding a popular Screamo band from around town and eventually but a whole other story some of the pop i found ended up venturing themselves into playing in the same genre, and from 2005 to 2012, i kept expanding my taste but just lengthened my list of artist for probably double but in 2005, I eventually found 2 local bands and they went on to both be signed to Virgin Records, now until out of highschool in 04 and finding these bands in 2005, I finally started having friends and spending time with them out of the school life and my live for music snowballed but until I spent time and found a life directed by what band was playing where and now today ive seen some if these bands 84 times, numerous state locals 20–45 times. Up until 2012 when members of bands i listened to aged a few years and went on to change the genre of music they made. It gradually broaden my horizen and I foubd my official first country artist besides Taylor Swift ‍♀️ And now I cant say i HATE country, and a lot of the country I listen to is a mix and not what country used to be. Most country music fans would say thats not country but these days genres are so diluted and intertwined and in the end it doesnt matter. But yea I broadened my music horizons 2 times in 2004 & 2012.

Best ways to discover new music genres/ artists/ bands??!?

I don't know of any specific websites that will give you recommendations for different types of music but these methods might work for you:

>You can ask for music recommendations on Yahoo Answers. Just say you are looking for new music and list the genres you don't want recommended. You might not always get the best results, but every now and then it might work.

>If you listen to music on YouTube, look at the related videos and click on anything that looks interesting. Sometimes the band is similar to the one you were listening to, but sometimes you get something different.

>Go to record companies' websites and look at the artists on their sites. Click on any band that catches your attention and listen to a song or two. If you need a place to start, check out Hopeless Records and Fearless Records.

I hope this helps and good luck!
