Recurring Ankle Injury

I have an old ankle injury acting up. Can someone help?

I sprained my ankle in 1993 when I was out of the country so I didn't go to the doctor. I never knew the severity of the sprain but it hurt!! It was swollen and very colorful. It eventually healed, but never 100 %. I heard though that it was normal to always have some discomfort once you've sprained an ankle so I never thought twice about it. However, 16 years later, I suddenly have this burning pain in my ankle and its hurts so bad when I stretch pointing my toes! I can walk just fine, it just burns often. Does anyone have any idea whats going on? If I was to go see a Dr., what kind should I go see? I don't think an x-ray will help since it's not a bone injury. Suggestions....anyone ??

How had Steph Curry been able to overcome injuries and play most of the games last three seasons?

Ankle Braces and Probably Therapy. As you can see Stephen Curry wears ankle braces, which probably have light tape under. This keeps his ankle from spraining as easily as it used to, because it is a recurring and nagging injury. This is precaution. It is to drain the possibly of any further damage to any tissue or ligaments. In my mind I can imagine him icing his feet after games, due to the constant movement and stress put on his feet. This would keep blood flow from going into the foot and inflaming it. This is called Cryotherapy.

Why is there a sharp stabbing pain in my ankle?

I'm 13 and I went for a LIGHT JOG around the track. After I stretched and sat down for 20 minutes I stood up and walked down the hall I suddenly had an extreme sharp stabbing pain in my ankle. It went away after 5 minutes but came back this time even more hurtful and it brought swelling too. I wrapped it and iced it but neither helped. I can put weight on my toes but none on my heel/ankle. Please help I have a volleyball game soon.

What does dreaming about having a hurt foot/ankle mean?

This has been a constant in my dreams for the past three nights. The storylines and characters change, but I always seem to be in tremendous pain in my foot/ankle. It's excruciating, and eventually, I'm limping to try to alleviate the pain a bit.

I've never sprained my ankle or broken any bone. I can't understand why I keep dreaming about this. Anyone have any ideas about what this may symbolize?

This consists of Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation of your ankle. Ice should be applied for twenty minutes at a time. Compression involves wrapping the ankle with an elastic bandage to provide support, and elevation helps to minimize bruising and swelling.Your doctor may also suggest using NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen, which can be bought over-the-counter.www.jointclinic.in

MRI shows fluid on ankle?

To make a long story short... I had 2 injuries on my ankle! 1 terrible injury and another, not as bad. I have had problems with it every since, and the Dr. always said it's arthritis. For a month my ankle has not stopped hurting, and now has started to swell in my lower leg, on the side. I finally couldn't suck it up anymore and went to the Dr. She spouted all kinds of "thoughts" of what it could be without being able to know for sure. "Torn muscle, torn ligament, I actually broke it 17 years ago and no one caught it" that sort of thing. But as you know no one could know for sure without an MRI. So I went for the MRI today. I will not be able to get the results until Tuesday, because my Dr is going to be off for the rest of the holiday weekend. I am impatient, and wondered if any of you had any idea what causes "fluid on my ankle?" Don't ask how I got this information, but I do know that is one thing the MRI has shown... (I'm a little sneaky, nosy, have friends in the right places, whatever you want to call it! LOL) So why would my ankle have fluid on it? From the injury 17 years ago? The other 6 years ago? Could it have been on there the entire time? I was young when the first injury took place, but I felt it was broken then, and gone untreated. I was on crutches for 5 months!!! For a sprain?? It never seemed to stop hurting, from the very first time! Didn't sound right to me, but I AM NOT Dr., that's why I'm asking today.
Thanks :)

Why did I just wake up with a swollen ankle?

There can be many reasons why you woke up with a swollen ankle, which is why it is important that you visit a foot specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment. You might have sprained your ankle before going to bed and didn’t realise it then. You can apply ice for 10–15 minutes, until the swelling goes away. If you sprain your ankle quite frequently, then it is important to get your foot examined as you might be suffering from poor foot posture. For instance, in flat feet, the arch of the foot collapses on the ground which creates an internal twist that adds stress on the ankle. This causes the ankle muscles to get weak and can increase the risk of ankle injuries.Custom foot orthotics, such as MASS4D®, can be used as part of a complete treatment plan. MASS4D® supports the feet in the best posture, thereby removing excessive stress from the ankle. This allows the ankle to heal and reduces risk of recurring injuries.Learn more about ankle sprains here.
