Red Burning Grey Liquid Smelly Inside Belly Button

Bump on my belly button piercing?

i have something similiar to you do. i also thought it was infected and went to the doctor and they told me to take it out. and of course, i left it in. it turns out it is called a keloid (sp). it is simply a bump of scar tissue. mine is rather quite large and i freaked out when i realized it was there too. i picked and pinched at it until it bleed. i also only had a clear/ white discharge. I also tried stabbing it with a needle because i thought maybe it was a puss pocket and that it needed to be violently popped. lol. but nothing happened. i then called the shop where i got it done and they said to put tea tree oil on it to help remove the excess tissue. but that didn't work either. it only left me smelling like a hippie, needless to say, it REALLY smelled funky. lol. So i gave up on that too. i eventually gave up on trying to get rid of this bump, and it turns out, that there is really nothing wrong with it, just for built up scar tissue. my belly button piercing is doing fine and once i quit trying to get stuff out, it healed and the tissue is slowly getting smaller.

i would suggest leaving it alone unless it has colored discharge, then i would go to a doctor cause it is probably infected. sorry :(

Clear sticky liquid that crystallizes in belly button? and flakey/skin on ear?

I'm not quite sure how to explain this, but I accidentally scratched some skin from the inside of my belly button and now there's a strange sticky liquid that sort of crystallizes over time? Should I be concerned about this? What is this called? Also, for a long time now, the place where glasses hand over on the ear has been flaking. Every time I scratch off the flakes/skin looking thing, it waters and more grows back. Is this similar to my belly button? How can I treat these problems?

Belly button red inside?

A picture would have been helpful. Some redness around the piercing itself is normal. Excessive redness that extends past the wound could indicate an allergic reaction to low quality jewelry or aftercare products, or a problem with placement (especially if the person is not anatomically suited to the piercing in the first place).

I'd suggest having a reputable piercer check it out. They'll be able to offer further advice.

Red, burning, grey liquid, smelly inside belly button?

For a while now, I have noticed that a grey liquid that sometimes pools in my belly button. The smell is unbelievably bad and today I decided to clean it out.

I cleaned it out using a dry Q tip and cotton ball. The belly button started to burn a bit, and I saw red inside my belly button. Thinking it was dried blood, I used a wet Q tip to gently wipe the redness. It made the pain worse and the red didn't go away.

Is green liquid coming from a wound a sign of infection?

In many cases green means containing bacteria (Pseudomonas!) that colors its environment green, dead white blood cells (pus) usually gives off a cream color, so if the wound is red, swollen, hot, inflamed, maybe hurts more, it could very well be infected, if so see a doc.

Belly Button piercing infected or just irritated?

So I got my belly button pierced about 2 weeks ago. It was doing fine for a few days but now it is pretty red and swollen with a little yellowish discharge. My sister thinks it's infected so she told me to put bactine on it. Now reading online it seems like it's just irritated. Maybe from when I hit it with the hamper the other day? Anyways I'm not sure if I should keep with the bactine or maybe a saline solution? I also can't tell if it's infected or just irritated. Help please????

Can a belly button open up?

It would not be healthy if the belly button opened up. Also, it is not likely to happen, as the navel is very strong tissue. The navel is a twisted knot of tissue that closes off the link to the umbilical cord in the womb. Functionally, we can think of a baby in the womb being nourished through the umbilical cord like a balloon being blown up. One the balloon is blown up, we tie off the opening. That is how a belly-button is made.If you untie, poke a hole in, or cut the knot of a balloon, the balloon bursts. If the belly button opens up, the abominal cavity will be exposed, which is a serious medical issue involving high risks of dangerous infection. The body is made of a series of protective layers. The skin is the outer one. At the belly button, the abodminal wall is next. Inside the abdomen, the appendix is the inner remnant from the umbilical cord into the body. The closing of the umbilical cord to create the belly button at birth seals all three of these layers. Breaking open any one of those layers can create dangerous infection and illness. Breaking open all three at once would be very unhealthy.
