Regarding Mysore University

Are the University of Mysore’s online courses approved by UGC?

Hey,When you are going for distance education just remember few things.university must have some govt. recognitions like UGC, DEB, AICTE, and AIU Which are mandatory in distance education.Online Examinations are not valid in distance eduaction .PGDM/ Executive MBA are not equivalent to MBA in distance learningall the institutes like Symbiosis, NMIMS,Welingkar will provide you only PGDM course not proper MBA .So university of Mysore have the recognition of UGC but they don’t have DEB recognition so the degree from Mysore university is not validFor more queries regarding distance learning you can contact me on below given number. Thanks,Trupti Kulkarni7385301680

Which is best for CSE: BIT Bangalore, JSS Mysore, PESIT South campus, or Dyanandsagar?

Thanks for the A2A. The question is a bit open ended so I'll try and cover all aspects of what “good” might be.PlacementsPlacement wise, PESIT South campus has placements with PESU, which is currently among the best colleges in bangalore for cse, placement wise. So I think pesit is better in terms of placement. Dayanand Sagar and BIT have equally good placements and JSS mysore has average placements.Campus and facultyCampus wise, BIT and Dayanand Sagar are above average, they are better located and have better infrastructure in general. JSS has a below average campus (outdated equipments according to many student reviews). PESIT has the best infrastructure among all these and a better faculty as well. Many students who passed out of BIT feel that the teachers barely know what they're teaching. Dayanand Sagar has a better faculty than BIT but again, falls behind PESIT. Since you're gonna be under VTU anyway, you should pick a college based on the faculty, since scoring in VTU is more of an art than a science.OpportunitiesForget the first two points, here's why you should pick a Bangalore based University over JSS. In bangalore, which is the Silicon city of India, there's no shortage of opportunities, for cs based internships or even jobs. In this case, BIT, Dayanand Sagar and PESIT are all really good, but it's up to you to grab those opportunities.

I had placed in Infosys off-campus conducted by Anna University in 2015, but still I didn't get the DOJ. When is the training for the next batch in Mysore?

I got placed in INFOSYS in MARCH 2014 and got offer letter in JUNE 2014 which stated my date of joining was 27th OCT. One of my friend got placed in 3rd year 2nd sem in engg and got the offer letter one year after his engg. BOTTOMLINE : ONCE YOU ARE PLACED YOU WILL 100% GET THE OFFER LETTER, BUT YOU NEED PATIENCE AND ITS WORTH THE WAIT. Best of luck. (PS: btw, during the placement season, every monday a new batch starts.)

How does NIE Mysore compare to private colleges like Manipal and Thapar University?

Well..I don't know much of Manipal or Thapar university..but there's one thing about private colleges..they will have students of the top 500 rank or the management ones..their seats get filled with management quota..and the fee is relatively very high.. the amount they take from you..they spend a part of it on the facilities.. you ll get really good facilities there.. the environment will either ruin u completely (which is most probable) or build u..I have seen both cases among my friends..Regarding NIE, facilities as compared to Manipal or Thapar might be less and so is the tuition fee.. but it ain't insufficient.. be it workshops, hands-on sessions or hackathons.. NIE also has student groups like ONYX which is one of the best e-cells under the NEN..the IEEE student branch NISB is one of the best in state.. there's Eicher centre, SAE , CREST etc etc..The college is doing pretty well and is one of the best in the nation.. 95% students come through competitions and so you get a great, enthusiastic and brilliant crowd..you learn more among such people..the college environment is healthy..

What is the second-year fee at SJCE Mysore?

The fees differs between SJCE autonomous college which is under VTU and SJCE under JSSSTU, Right now second year people are under JSSSTU, so the fees is slightly higher compared to SJCE autonomous. For SC/ST students having annual income less than 2.5 la the tution fees is 0 and college fees around 20K. Fees for students admitted through KCET in aided courses will be around 45K and for unaided course it will be around 85k.Comed-K and management people may need to pay 2 la for an year.

Is it true that SJCE Mysore, being converted to JSS science and technological university has degraded the value of the college since the degree is not under VTU?

It not true.Establishing a own university is on cards for many reputed engineering colleges in India. The present education system (especially Technical education) in India has seen a rapid growth in the last decade. Western countries have well structured technical education system. In the last decade, many engineering colleges in India have started following their footprints by introducing their own curriculum. This was possible because, these colleges were granted the status of Autonomy by their respective technical boards ( in this case VTU). Autonomous Institutions had the fancy of choosing their own curriculum and elective courses. These institutions revise their curriculum every 2 years thus a new and tending technology can be added as and when they need. Also, they teach students based on Course objectives framed in the curriculum. This method clearly identifies what a student should learn out of that course. Course Objectives focus on applications of knowledge rather than simply remember them. The multi national companies recruiting the engineers prefer analysing abitily and application, thus they generally prefer students passed out of autonomous Institutions. Most technical boards in the country lack in this area. Also for such boards, implementing a change in large scale is cumbersome ( they have 200–600 affiliated colleges on average). An university has less number of colleges under its affiliation ( in this case, only 1)Comming back to the original question, SJCE getting a seperate university status is an added advantage. They can have well-defined structure of education in addition to choosing the curriculum of choice. They also can start new courses based on current industrial needs. In short, they have all freedom.Only downside I see is the hike in fees.P.S: The views presented here are my personal opinions. I honestly feel that VTU need go through diversified changes to survive in present technological era.
