Religious People What Reason Is There To Be Religious Apart From The Reasons That The Scriptures

Why are people Anti-Religious?

I don't understand it.

Most Anti-religious people claim that they have more reason than all the religous people in the world, et it doesn't seem this way. They have no evidence for their claims, much the same as many religious people do?

Can't we just get along and stop hating? Doesn't that seems a HELL of a lot more reasonable than making sweeping generalizations of 5/7ths of the world?

By generalizations, I mean an Anti-Religious person would normally try to claim that all religious people are the same as the most insane type of people, like the West-Boro Batist Church. Now, I myself am a Gnostic-Christian, and, unlike what many Anti-Religious people say, I am not Anti-Gay, Creationist, or cloud-thinking. In one year i'll be going into an Evolutionary-Biology minor, and a Game-Design Major at a local college, and that seems to get rid of their generalizations.

Can anyone give me a good answer, one that doesn't wish for me, or pray for them. Or make fun of people, or mock them. One that doesn't make generalizations and one that cleary, and emotionally state your belief on the subject? I don't want any of this "They have no Proof" Bull, in reality there can be no proof of god, or proof that There is no God. Face it.

I, myself, believe that Atheism and Anti-Religion, are a world apart from one another. That an Atheist can belive that Anti-Religion is wrong. (An example of this would be my friend who is Atheist but is going into a Theology Major, and has recently written an award winning essay on Religious Freedom.)

Thank you, and I have the upmost faith that I may for once obtain the answer I want.

Why must Christians be tolerate of other religions....its not scriptural!?

God bless you for being real and telling it like it is. Christians have been too tolerent too long.
Liberals want to take Christ out of Christians.

Has religion ever solely started a war?

Religion has never been the cause of any conflict or wars in the history of mankind. It has always been the diseased hearts of mankind using religion as an excuse to dominate others and using religion as a 'feeling good factor' by believing that God is on their side. Crusaders used Christianity to massacre innocent people throughout the world, IRA uses Catholicism to carry out their bombing campaigns in the UK, World war 1 and 2 weren't the cause of religion in fact it was the same old diseased hearts in power politics hungry for more power to dominate and terrorise innocent people killing millions of people in the end. At present Islam is presented as a boogie man after Communism and is being linked to the conflicts all over the world. In fact there are people killing in the name of Islam while the religion of Islam is a religion of peace. Religion has always been the easy targets and will remain an easy targets unless people stop those in power using religion and expose their real ugly agenda behind their religiously looking figures.

Since religious beliefs are still a considerable factor in the present day (sadly), why aren't there revisions to well-established religious scriptures? Aren't we living or in fact forced to live according to ideals of the past?

Religions were created because man had weaknesses, fear of unknowns and desire to control others. Religion provide a tool to control people who can't be controlled otherwise. Man was barbaric in those days and religions provided certain acceptable behavior.  Religious scriptures were written to code rules and regulations, a particular human being thought is best for society. But the fact is that those weaknesses of human overcame the rationality. Religious scripture were suitable for ancient times and they are not suitable for present times. Humans always resent present and cherish moments of past , where everyone was living happily and peaceful. They want the same old things of past and because of this reason they don't want to part away their religious scriptures. Many people become delusional in the process and for them those printed pages become more important than precious human life. Religion has become a tool to control the power. Those who rule on the name of religion know that it is slavery and they exploit this for their own advantage.

Does religious fundamentalism help insecure people feel better about themselves?

For example, religious fundamentalism might be attractive to someone who is not happy with his state in life. Maybe someone is making just enough money to barely get by and is unable to provide a better life for his family. Or, religious fundamentalism might be attractive to someone who is poor and is unable to find better opportunities to better his life and therefore lives a life of financial struggle.

Why do I ask why a person in the above examples might be attracted to religious fundamentalism? Maybe because it gives them a feeling that they're special. So even though their life sucks, they know that they will be going to be in a better special place when they die.

So in the mind of a fundamentalist, they see everyone else around them enjoying the pleasures of life by having good careers and being financially successful. Though, the fundamentalist, knowing that his life sucks as compared to those around him, thinks he will be in a better place when he dies.

Is there any truth to the above?

7 Deadly Sins: What are the consequences other than religious reasons?

Sloth and gluttony will lead to any number of diseases, including diabetes and heart disease.
Wrath creates stress.
Greed can cause one's priorties to be out of balance. Everyone needs money to live, but desiring money well in excess of that can cause a person to lose sight of friends, family, etc.
Envy can lead to feelings of inadequacy, if directed toward a public figure. When directed toward a friend, it can ruin a friendship.
Pride, that is thinking one is better than one really is, pisses people off.
Properly directed lust can lead to love. Improperly directed it can lead to prison. It's not the lust that's bad, it's the choice of the object of that lust.
