Removing Raidiator With Ac

Freon leak when removing radiator?

I'm not following this.. Did they replace the radiator (the part filled with the green water) or the A/C condenser (contains the freon)? You should not have to unhook the A/C hoses if just replacing the radiator. If they accidentally loosened the bolt holding the A/C hose to the condenser and let the freon out, then they just have to make sure it's very tight, and you won't have any problems when you take it to be recharged. However, if they flexed one of the hoses and cracked it or the aluminum tubing, then the hose assembly has to be replaced. Either way, the system will have to be evacuated to remove any moisture, and then recharged.

As for a 'gel lube', if you're talking about for the radiator hose, it's not necessary. It just makes the hose slip on the fitting easier, but you can get the same effect by warming the ends of the hose with a hair dryer or heat gun.

If you're talking about for the A/C lines, the O-rings have to be lubed with PAG oil, but that's not necessary unless you are replacing the hoses.

How do you remove the radiator from a Volvo s80?

a turbo model? the chances are it's a turbo.
the radiator assembly drops out the bottom.
to avoid draining the ac system, you can unbolt the ac condenser from the radiator.
after doing so, wire tie the ac condenser to the body somewhere to support it.
the idea is to drop the radiator & the turbo intercooler out together.
once these drop out together, then separate them & replace the radiator.
reinstall as found or better.

taking the radiator cooling fan out can help to give you the needed clearance.

How do you safely remove the radiator cap from a car radiator?

Only when the car is cold. I was burned once by hot water from a hot radiator. There's no way to safely remove the cap when the car is hot. If it's overheating turn off the engine and wait for the car to cool. I developed a technique for driving an overheated car for as much as 35 miles on one trip I was on.I was about 35 miles from home when my car overheated. I was on on the Garden State parkway in NJ. I accelerated to 60 meh, and shut the engine off and coasted down to 35. I then started the engine only long enough to get up to 60 again and coasted again. I was able to get home with no damage to the engine. I've used this trick many, many times.Fast Eddie fixing and breaking cars for over 50 years.

Will removing the thermostat from your car cause the ac to not work?

Your cousin may be right although it depends on the car you have.

The thermostat is not making your car run hot unless it is defective. If it is defective, replace it with a new OEM thermostat. Removing the thermostat makes your engine more vulnerable to overheating because it allows the system to become saturated with overheated coolant, which is the essence of overheating. The thermostat keeps the engine at the proper operating temperature (that's why it is called a thermostat) and only lets fully heated coolant into the radiator. Hotter coolant loses heat more quickly, reducing the temperature of the coolant leaving the bottom of the radiator. If you remove the thermostat the coolant will circulate freely, becoming ever hotter at the bottom of the radiator (input to the engine) until it can no longer cool the engine. You don't mention make, model, and year, but in increasing numbers of modern cars the A/C will shut down if the engine overheats, as measured by - you guessed it - the temperature at the bottom of the radiator.

You will have to determine the actual cause of the overheating. The most common cause I see is blockage of the tubes in the radiator caused by using tap water to dilute the coolant. There is no flush that will touch the hard water deposits - I tried straight CLR once and it made the deposits fizz but there was no visible difference. The radiator must be replaced (or rodded, which is almost as expensive) if hard water deposits are blocking coolant flow.

How do i remove the radiator from a 1997 ford crown vic police interceptor?

Did you unhook the tranny lines?

Define "past".

How hard is it to change a radiator?

It is a job that is possible for you to do if you have some knowledge of cars. You have to drain the coolant using the radiator drain on the bottom of it. Be sure to keep the coolant clean because you will just put it back in when you are done (unless it is time to change it anyway then you can put new in). Then you need to remove the cooling fans and radiator hoses and unbolt it from the frame. If it is an automatic you will need to remove the cooling lines for the automatic transmission. Just reverse everything to install. You will want to refill the coolant, then start the car and warm up the engine, then let it cool an top it off. You will probably need to do this a couple of times. you will also need to top off your automatic transmission fluid.
