Retrieving Post/letters Without Using My Address

Can I mail a letter without a return address written?

Yes at your own risk….. If you didn’t add a stamp or somebody have moved or address doesn’t exist. If there is no return address so, they will place your mail in “ Dead letters”.If you hate to write your address on it. You can purchase custom made your own stick on address labels which, I have or go to office suppliers that they can make you a rubber stamp pad with ink.

If I send an anonymous letter by USPS without a return address, will the person still know which post office it was sent from?

It is still possible to track an anonymous letter’s origin post office. This depends on how the letter was processed. Letters don't go from mail back to post office and reverse to get mailed. The mail process is a complicated labyrinth of travel and tracking.Mail is taken from the boxes > to the local origin post office>to a facility depending on the letters destination> through machines that mark the letters origin post office. (Sometimes a post office is large enough to have these marking machines that will show post origin.)>through final staging machines that track letters, mark them with ink and put them in carrier (walk)sequence>the mail can now go either to the destination post office or depending on location, to another facility where it can become pass through mail and go to its city's main post office>to the local post office>then to you.If a letter falls out of the system along the way (it could have fallen out of a tray or something)there's a chance it will get canceled manually and the process of micro - marking it's origin post office gets skipped. This is where an anonymous letters origin post office stays hidden. That, however is both rare and random and cannot be planned or predicted.

Can you trace a letter with no return address back to the mailbox it was mailed from?

You personally, No, but it can be done. It was years ago, but there were letters sent via an apartment complex outgoing mail pickup box that had powder placed in each one. The FBI and Postal inspectors diligently tracked them back to the sender. What became of it I don’t know. They do not talk about it, ever.

Letter to self as proof of address.?

If i mail myself a letter for proof of address for the DMV, do i need to have an actual letter inside the envelope ? can i just throw a picture inside and just send that ?

If you get a PO Box does USPS send anything to your home address of record?

That will entirely depend on how you choose to have your mail delivered. If you want all of your mail to go to your post office box only, then you will need to fill out a change of address form. If, like several of my customers, you run a business from your home and want your personal mail to go to your home and your business mail to go to your post office box, then it will be up to you to notify others which address to use. Be aware, though, that you cannot do an individual change of address out of that post office box being used as a business address. I had a situation, years ago, where the chief of police used the police departments PO Box as his personal mailing address. When he ended up being fired by the village government, the Mayor, as the current owner of the box, requested that the lock be changed on the PO Box, and the former employee no longer had access to his own mail. As the box was a business address he could not file a change of address order for his individual mail. This holds true for street delivery as well. Individual changes can not be made from business addresses so I always recommend that people use a PO Box for their business address. That is why I always tell people never to have mom or dad’s mail sent to a nursing home but to have it go to whichever child the parent chooses to receive it. You will be at the mercy of said nursing home to hand forward to you any important mail you may need to close out their estate when they pass away.

What does USPS do with a letter if there is not enough postage (stamps) adhered to it?

After someone has been working for the Postal Service for a significant amount of time, s/he can generally tell if an envelope is long or short on stamps. If mail enters the mail stream with too little postage (not no postage, just too little), it will taken to the recipient and that person will have to pay the postage due. If they refuse to pay, or don't pick it up, it will be returned to the mailer postage due. If the mailer also refuses or doesn't pick it up, it will be sent to the Dead Letter Office, there to reside for the remainder of its little postal life. If that same envelope enters the postal stream with NO postage, it will be returned to the sender. If there is no return address, again she flies to the DLO.

How do I trace a letter sent to me via India Post?

Your question is how can I trace a letter sent to me via India Post.Sorry to say that you can trace a letter only to a limited extent. Ordinary post letter or a speed post or registered letter can be traced to the extent as to the it or town from where it has been sent or posted to you.A registered or speed post letter also can be traced to the same extent . In this case you can get the name or address of the person who sent it , but to no further extent.Indian posts and telegraphs department does not check or counter check the truth if the identity of the person dispatching the said letter. So any one can send a letter thorough registered post or speed post under a fake name and address. So no fruitful result can be obtained by tracing or trying to trace the place or person who has sent the letter. However if you find the place from where the letter has been despatched and suspect a person of foul play then you can get a sample of the person’s writing and compare it with the writing on the postal envelope . Handwriting results are not perfect science but you can imply the mischievous sender and be aware of him for your personal satisfaction.
