Phone throwing is an official sport in which country?

In Finland, Mobile Phone Throwing Is A National SportSep 22, 2015 08:50 PM EDTMobile phone throwing is actually a national sport in Finland. Competitors meet annually to see who can throw their handset the farthest.Everyone has fantasized about throwing his or her mobile phone at one point or another. Whether it was after a fight with your significant other, being put on hold forever by your mobile provider, receiving an angry text or losing signal during a crucial call, there have been multiple points where we've all had enough and just wanted to chuck our phones as a metaphor for whatever problem they currently represented.Ratchet reality TV stars aside, most of us are able to hold it together and refrain from the overwhelming urge we occasionally get to just wing our phone into the atmosphere, or even at the object of our ire. However, what if we could, just once, throw reason out the window and our cell phone flying after it?The folks over in Finland have not only created an environment specifically for themselves to play out that fantasy, they've actually made it into a national sport. Since 2000, natives of Finland have been flocking to the town of Savonlinna to participate in the Mobile Phone Throwing Championships. The contestants throw phones that have been donated and provided, and are not allowed to bring their own devices. They are, however, encouraged to "choose the phone that fits best to his/her hand or looks the nicest," according to the official website of the sport. It further explains: "There are clearly two parties in this; some believe that the heavier phones fl[y] further than lighter ones and others think just the opposite."There is an official jury panel that determines the acceptability of each throw and approves the results, with absolutely no appeals allowed. The longest throws — 97.73 meters (320.63 feet) is tops thus far — are recorded. Though the rules are presented seriously, the entire concept is somewhat tongue-in-cheek."Humor connects people globally and is also part of this sport," the website pronounces, along with the spiritual freedom symbolized by the throwing of the device and all it represents. After all the fun is over, in a fitting nod to the environment, the devices are then recycled

Is religion a boon or curse?

Religion is a blessing and a curse to society. That is the short answer.Religion as a blessing. Religion gives structure to people's lives and thereby to society. You go to church on Sunday if you are Christian, and enjoy Easter, lent and Christmas festivals etcetera. In other religions they have their own special days and festivals. Religion encourages humanity to be good, to help one another, to be tolerant and respectful and urges self restraint and generosity among other things. On the positive side it makes people better human beings in the main.Religion as a curse. Religion divides people. It puts one man against the other. People become bigots the moment they align themselves to a Church/Mosque. It can be used against nations as is the case in Islam. Radicalism brings about the worst in mankind with beheadings, bombings and killings. In Islam as well as Christianity the goal is utterly selfish. The goal is to go to heaven. The Christian does it by being good, tithing, not stealing or murdering and depending on which denomination he/she is in there are other things one has to do. The radical Muslim goes to heaven by murdering, bombing, and mass indiscriminate killing thereby becoming a martyr and in gaining Allahs favour finds his way into heaven with 7 virgins waiting for him. In other religions there are negatives as well but itemising all is too lengthy a process for this Quoran. If one looks back in history religion has a ghastly reputation. What is the difference between the thinking of the Knights Templar and today's ISIS? The Christian Knights murdered and pillaged wherever they went, all in the name of Christ. ISIS do it in the name of Allah. Truth of the matter is that the Muslims are hundreds of years behind the Christians. Christians got their ideas off the Jews and Mohammad, very much later, got his ideas for the Muslims from the Jews. It is very practical for society to have one God. However, as humans we cannot agree what the name of that God is or what it is that that God wants from us. In conclusion then, religion disunites humanity and keeps it in a war-like state. There are some who have escaped the curse that religion poses, they are the atheists. They are the only truly free people in this world getting all the blessings without religion and none of the curses because they don't belong to any religion.
