Rise Against Songs About Power

Help with Rise Against amp settings?

You can't take amp settings on one type of amp and copy over to another, expecting things to sound the same. Far from it.

Line 6 is a digital modeling amp - and not even a good one, I'm afraid. Most of the bands that people here try to emulate are using high end tube gear. Not only that, but the amp and the settings is just one small part of the equation. The player/the person playing is the single most important part.

Then you have the amp and how much drive comes from the preamp and power amp section, how the EQ is set and so on.

Then you have the guitar/s the player is using, what type of leads or wire-less, affects, the order of effects, if the effects are routed through an effects loop and so on and so forth.

Adding too that, you have types of strings, guitar set-up, picks and what not. Truth is: Even if the player in question let you borrow all the original equipment being used, even down to the pick being used, you would still not sound the same. You will sound like yourself...

You can get your sound in the same ballpark as another player - more like a reference point. However, you will need to use your ears and not any position of knobs and switches to do that. Also, it is critical that you learn to pick up nuances in the style of that player, pick attack, vibrato and much more.

Feel free to read more about the issue below if you want to know more about it.

What is the meaning to satellite by rise against?

I see it as he's saying that Americans were all for change for freedom when the us was founded, but now it's more about parties than freedom. He's saying that there are only a few people left who believe in what the founding fathers believed in, that's why he calls us orphans of the us. It's basically how we don't do anything to preserve worldwide freedom anymore but instead shrug it off. He calls himself a satellite I'm thinking because of how he has the power to do something because he is telling everybody he will not just let it happen, and that's all it takes.
Anyways, that's what I think of it. And the make it stop from the first persons is wrong.

What are your thoughts on the meaning of this new Rise Against song, People Live Here?

My God is better than yours
And the walls of my house are so thick
I hear nothing at all

I followed you out in the storm
But it carried you off
And I burned every picture of yours
Was that not enough?

My gun is bigger than yours
So let's arm the masses
And see what the bastards do then
Walking tall once set us apart
Now we're down on all fours
Do you cry my name in the dark
Like I do yours?

These storms are getting stronger now
Trusses all bend and sway
Lightning hits, the power goes out in the fray
As the waves crash high
And the shoreline disappears
I will scream to the sky
"Hey, people live here."

My dreams are not unlike yours
They long for the safety
And break like a glass chandelier
But there's laughter and oh there is love
Just past the edge of our fears
And there's chaos when push comes to shove
But it's music to my ears

May you be in Heaven before the Devil knows you're dead
May these winds be always at your back

'Cause when we're all just ghosts
And the madness overtakes us
We will look at the ashes
And say, "People lived here."

From the penthouse to the holy martyr
Sea to shining sea
From the coffins full of kindergartners
Is this what you call free?
From the hate that drips from all your crosses
Are your hands so clean?

And the wildfire and it's spreading far
From sea to shining sea

When we're all just ghosts
And the madness overtakes us
I will scream to the sky, yeah I'll scream to the sky
Yeah I'll scream to the sky
"Hey, people live here."

What are some good songs about rebelling against authority?

I won't back Down by Tom Petty, its about a person standing up to the oppressive forces in their life trying to drag them down. Jurassitol by Filter, is a rare song that was in the movie The Crow: City of Angels. Just about anything by Rage Against The Machine. Fight The Power by Public Enemy is a great antiauthority song. Their is the Authority Song by John Mellencamp, a little corny but worth a listen. A lot of Johnny Cash music was antiauthority. Not directly but he did perform in a concert in Folsom Prison , California. Cash was very anti establishment and anti authority.

What rise against song has an important social or political message?

Prayer of the Refugee-This song is about how America pays third world countries to make products and then we put a "Made in the USA" sticker on it. It is also about an immigrant or refugee who comes to America to try to make ends meet but faces frequent discrimination at the hands of people and the government.

Audience of One-The music video features an eight-year-old boy resembling a young George W. Bush playing with a miniature world, and throughout the video the boy plays with objects depicting high gas prices, the war in Iraq, the funeral of a soldier, Abu Ghraib prison, the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, deforestation, house foreclosures, gay marriage, and illegal immigration before going to bed.

btw, most, if not all, songs by them are political.

Other political songs:
BYOB by System of a down
War Pigs by Black Sabbath
Peace Sells by Megadeth
Critical Acclaim by Avenged Sevenfold

During Hitler's rise to power, was there any comedy in Germany? Did they joke about him?

Hell yes. There were many caricatures depicting what the NSDAP, Hitler and Germany is going to be like.Source: Nachrichten aus Politik, Kultur, Wirtschaft und SportTranslation: The national socialists(NSDAP) will split themselves, until only Hitler remains. This caricature was made by the Simpliccimus journal and predicted 1928, that the party of the national socialists will split itself so long, until only Hitler remains.Des Fuhrers Klage.(The Fuhrers complain)Translation:“How can I be dictator, when nobody's helping me?”After the election in the Reichstag 1932, the NSDAP became the strongest party, chancellor Franz Von Papen resigned and Hindenburg got pressured to choose Hitler as chancellor. This caricature depicts Hitler crying, because he finally wants to be dictator. This caricature was made in December 1932, one month before Hitler became chancellor. So these were only two of many of the caricatures which made fun of him, some were humorous, although blind to the danger Hitler posed, and some were predictions about the future of the politics of Germany.
