Road Trip To Tennessee From Baltimore Any Sites We Shouldn

What are some must-sees on a road trip to Manhattan from NC?

It really depends on which route you take. If you're on a tight budget or a time limit, I'd say take I-85 or I-95 for the quickest trip, but it won't be the most scenic or interesting. You'll still head through Richmond, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, but you won't see much of the countryside.Honestly, the best thing about any drive that takes you a significant distance through Virginia is the scenery. Virginia countryside is beautiful during the spring, summer, and fall. So if you aren't crunched for time or money, stay off the highway and take the US-301 N route, with some detours. You could swing through Washington, DC, and still hit Richmond, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. You could also make a short detour to Atlantic City or Virginia Beach. You could sidle over to Hershey Park in Hershey, Pennsylvania...though it's a little out of the way off that main stretch, you can get onto I-78 through there and go the rest of the way to NYC. You could also drive a significant stretch of your trip up the coast of Penn by heading to Atlantic City and then taking Route 9 all the way up to I-195 before taking that west to get on I-95 for the rest of the drive. If I could offer one tip: plan one or two places you definitely want to see, give yourself a good amount of travel time, and then just go with it. If you see something interesting, stop. If you don't, keep going. It's the absolute best and least stressful way to travel, especially when in a car and dealing with traffic delays and such that could make meeting internal road trip deadlines difficult.

What did you do in your recent/favorite trip?

I moved back to the States 3ish years ago to receive my MFA, which I have, praise be said in Handmaid style. Each graduate school year my projects included traveling 1000s of miles around the US. I interviewed and recorded people from all over the country about what it was like to live in this country. How they got here, where they were born, their friends, their family, their jobs, loves, losses and all the beauty that is life. Two summers ago I road tripped: Kansas-Oklahoma-New Mexico-Arizona-California-Nevada-Wyoming-Colorado and ??? Last summer primarily consisted of canyons in Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. I also lived and worked outside of Sante Fe for a summer waaaaayyy back when. So safe to say, I’ve done my fair bit of hiking, camping, seeing, exploring, sweating around the South West of America. And just wow. Wow. Yes and more. This area is by far one of the most magical places I’ve ever been on Earth. The diversity, the breathtaking after breathtaking scene is never ending. Each canyon is different. Each area brings new beauty. I never once got bored in the car looking out of the windows on each of my trips. Camping in canyons and atop of mountains meant I got to breathe in the air, feel the wind, hear coyotes, be in nature and really experience what is pure magic. Its beauty is unsurpassed. The food, culture and people are all amazing. Living in Sante Fe in 2003 and visiting last year I was surprised how commercial it has become so I prefer Taos. More laid back and down to earth hippie dippie shit. In Colorado I camped at an amazing natural springs resort near national sand dunes. In Utah, I witnessed the most amazing land formations I’d ever seen. Clearly, I am in love with this place. Each trip was a shared driving, camping, art making, weed smoking (in Colorado where it’s legal obviously), star gazing, back to nature venture. Playlists were vital since a lot of time is spent traveling between places. Buying and making delicious camp food, my campfire cobbler is on point! An all out digital detox get back to myself sojourn. I am a hippie dippie nature child and if I don’t get my fix of Mother Earth, I start to melt. While I’m still living in the States, I’m road tripping and site seeing as much as I can!

Know of any weird, fun or must-see roadside attractions across the United States?

Look at the back of your road atlas as you plan your trip.Take special note of National Parks or Historical sites that interest you.Almost every trip we try to pick a different sight to see.The best are the free ones, like sunrise over the appalacian montains. How about retired Missle silo's from the cold war?The Golden spike park in Utah,or tours of the beer plant in St. lewis,MO?Also look up National Geographics for the articles on each state you visit.I would do that for every vacation.

What's the best way to plan this road trip?

I would split the trip, unless you have 2-3 months to do it all.
Fly to the East Coast, tour New England down to Florida and hop a plane and fly to the West Coast.
Otherwise, you'd only see road, but I'm guessing if you spend that much time and money, you want to get a memorable vacation out of it...

How much of Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama and Carolina do you want to see? Driving through farmland can get somewhat boring after a few days...
For an unforgettable trip, take a look at mapquest and streamline your destinations. Arizona & Utah (the canyons) are easier to reach from the west coast, Vegas would then be a given.

Or, if you really do have the time:
start in Miami, drive down to the keys (that's the picture-book Florida) for a day or two and then make your way up the cost.
That would give you:
Atlanta Georgia, Washington DC, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, New York and Boston Massachusetts.
In Boston, hop on I-90 and go west:
Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo NY (including Niagara Falls), and Chicago Illinois.
Then all the central states: how much may depend on your patience, it does tend to get boring after a few days on the road out there. If you're flexible, decide while on the go.
Then aim for the canyons: Arizona and Utah, stop in Colorado too, it's worth it!
And on the way to San Francisco California, go through Vegas. Hotels and food are cheap there, so plan for a few days, before you continue to expensive California...

PS: If Americans do that kind of trip, they usually buy a car on one coast and sell it on the other. ;-)

We are doing a road trip from Malaga to Seville to Granada. Are there any recommendations for some non touristy or unpopular but beautiful towns/places on this route?

That’s a bit difficult, it really depends on what you like. Also with 7 days and one lost in transportation, you shouldn’t try to visit many things. In fact, I think you would do well just by staying in the three cities you said.First of all, a little advice: your route should be Granada-Málaga-Sevilla or back, to make the least travelling.I think Córdoba is much more beautiful than Málaga. Not only the city itself is impressive, there is near the almost unknown Almodóvar del Río, with this beautiful castle:Back yo your itinerary:Near Sevilla there is the National Park of Doñana if you like nature (Official tourism website of Andalucía).Marchena and Carmona are also considered the prototype of a small Andalusian village. They are in your route from Sevilla so I suggest spending an hour in one of them, at least to take a general view:In route to Malaga a lot of people like Ronda, the village “hanging” on the precipice (Ronda and Tajo Gorge Day Trip from the Costa del Sol)A bit earlier in the route, Setenil de las Bodegas is also quite famous for this photo (yes, that street was built like this on purpose):If you don’t choose that route, Antequera has Dolmens from Prehistoric times (but they are not very impressive (Dolmenes de Antequera (Spain): Top Tips Before You Go - TripAdvisor)In Granada everybody go to see the Alhambra (expect cues 2h30′ long) and sometimes they forget the Generalife, a beautiful villa:Near Málaga, if you are looking for a good beach, Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella are famous. Personally I hate beaches (boring and I burn easily) so I can't make good recommendations. For good places to eat, I'd look at web sites like Trip Advisor. There are many opinions so you could find your better place.

What should we see on a 5 day trip south from Seattle to San Francisco?

Without knowing your interests and expectations all I can offer is how I would do the trip.  Hope this helpsDay 1:  South on I5 to Longview, then US30 west to US101 at Astoria stopping for the night in Canon Beach.  Lewis & Clarke Historic Park is worth a stop.Day 2:  South along the coast on US101.  A visit to the cheese plant in Tillamook is interesting.  You might also  stop for a bit in Depot Bay.  Visit the harbor and if you are hungry grab a bite at the Sea Hag. There is an interesting glass blower just out of Newport on the highway.  You also have the Sea Lion Caves and the Sand Dunes further south.Continue on south and spend the night in  Coos Bay.  Day 3:  South on US101 again.  Gold Beach is worth a stop as is Brookings.  As you get into California Cresent City is a good place for a break.  Just south of Klamath is the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway thru Prairie Creek Redwood State Park which is well worth the detour off 101.  At Orick is Redwood National Park.  Trinidad is worth a visit.  Stop for the night in either Arcata or Eureka.Day 4:  Continuing south on US101 will take you the creamery in Loleta is worth a stop.  Then it's inland along the Eel River.  The mill at Scotia is interesting as is the former company town itself.  Just south of Scotia pick up the Avenue of the Giants CA 254 through the redwood parks and groves.  Further south you can detour onto the Old Redwood Highway CA 271 which is kind of a fun drive.  Spend the night in Ukiah.Day 5:  Finish the trip spending a day in the Sonoma wine country.  With several hundred wineries offering tastings it is an easy and fun way to end your trip.
