What is Jem's illness/disability in the infernal devices series by Cassandra Clare?

If I remember correctly, (and I'm not sure I do, I read it a while ago) it was a demon injury. I think it says so in Clockwork Angel. If you remember in the original MI books, Jace explains to Clary how there are some demon injuries that can harm you from the inside out. You'll get scratched, bitten, whatever, the wound heals, but then the poison that got inside the initial wound is in your blood.

I want to be an author. Currently im on disability. Its the only thing I think I have a chance at doing. Do you think I could make a living at it?

No.In saying that, I’m not devaluing your ambition, skills, creativity, or talent.I’m just looking at the odds.Mercedes R. Lackey - who does make a living as a novelist - is often asked this question on Quora. I’m going to quote her excellent, fact-based response:“Every so often SFWA (Science Fiction Writers of America) does a survey of its members to find out how many of them are making a living writing. The numbers have not changed from the 1970s: 90% of them have a full-time day-job. Of the remaining 10%, half are writing something other than fiction as a day job (journalists, technical writers). Only 5% of the membership makes a living writing full time, and most of those are making, at best, a modest living.Other surveys of writers in general bear out these statistics.”If you search online, you’ll find this same information posted over and over again. The majority of writers make less than $1,000 a year. No, I don’t think you could make a living at it. (I have 20 years’ experience as a newspaper reporter and ongoing content development work, and I don’t think I could make a living as an author.)Clarification: The OP used the word “author”, so I responded to that as a career. It might be possible to generate income by writing articles or copy writing or developing SEO content.

How would you explain to a patient the importance of moving the disabled muscles passively?

A nerve injury may paralyze the muscle it supplies. How would you explain to a patient the importance of moving the disabled muscles passively or contracting them using electrical stimulation?

Best free teen novels on iBooks?

I wasted all of the money in my account, so could you guys recommend free teen novels?
Interesting ones! :D
THANK YOU! :D

How do I start writing a romance novel?

These were some of my biggest problems, too. I was afraid I wouldn’t have enough material, I didn’t know how and where to start…First off, do read as many romance novels as possible. Read the successful ones and try to see the similarities. Over time you’ll see a pattern. Whether the characteristics of the hero and heroine, the flow of the story, the way conflicts are set up etc.(Apologies if you are already a dedicated reader or researcher of the genre. I write romance but reading it takes 2nd place to mystery to me.)There are sub genres as well in romance: contemporary, historical, erotic, suspense etc. You might find your idea fits better into one of these sub genres. Or that you write one sub genre more easily than the rest. As a reader, I like romantic suspense but it takes some research and a bit more plotting than I currently have the time for.Second, consider your approach. Try finishing a scene or a short story. Identify how best to personally navigate writing a complete work. Every writer is different. Some start at the beginning and write until the end; some, like me, start in the middle of a defining scene, write it all out and then add appropriate beginning and ending.Third, find as much help as possible. I find Stephen King’s On Writing to be a tremendous help to start with. It gives you a sort of background on how to work in general. And then I got my hands on Libbie Hawker’s Take Off Your Pants. It’s really helpful for those of us who want to do some outlining. And just a few weeks ago my order for Gwen Hayes’ Romancing the Beat finally arrived, which is a very practical approach to unfold the stages of what happens in a romance novel.Of course this is what works for me, might not work for you. But give it a try if you’re so inclined. Thanks for the A2A and good luck!

Need some help on a book called unwind by neal shusterman I need a detailed decription of what you know.?

from the unwind that i know it is based on the future where there was a war about abortion. abortion became illegal, so they made a new law: children and teens between the ages of around 14-18, get unwound by parents who don't want them anymore. basically they're numbed as surgeons and doctors carefully remove their limbs and organs and EVERYTHING ELSE until nothing is left, even their brain. they are conscious the entire time, but don't feel a thing. then those body parts are distributed to people who lost a hand, or needed new vocal chords, things like that.

the three main characters are connor, a boy who his parents are unwinding because he is a trouble maker.
risa is being unwound because she cannot meet the standards at the orphanage.
and lev is a tithe. he knew that he would get unwound from birth. he is a religious sacrifice to god.

all three have escaped and find themselves meeting up and working together to save themselves until they are 18 (when it is illegal to be unwound because you are considered an adult by then)

they all go through this journey of hiding in safe houses and stuff. they are eventually caught, but while being prepared, some new kids come in with them, but they seem different. they ARE different because they're blood has been fused with gunpowder, so when they clap, they blow up. 2 of them blow themselves up while the third ends up being lev. he doesn't die, but helps the others escape. they are all safe in the end and risa and connor end up falling in love! :D

the theme : mystery, adventure, thriller, a little bit of romance, futuristic
plot overview : them escaping being unwound

this book is one of my favorites! i would recommend it to anyone! plus, the part where they're hiding in safe houses is really elaborate, but if you want to, i can tell you. but if this is fine, just tell me either way on the added information. :) hope you get to actually read the book! good luck! :)

Do you prefer reading fiction or non-fiction books more?

I definitely like reading non fiction books more. It seems now a days all that teenagers, like the kids in my class, read are fiction books. I can't stand books about wizards, magic, Greek gods, werewolves, vampires, and teenage romance any longer. It makes me throw up inside, not literally. I like learning about history like wars and learning about famous people's life. It just interests me so much more that a book about werewolves and vampires fighting over a girl. Of course, I can enjoy an old, fiction book once in a while, like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer or The Great Gatsby. But, I hate fiction books now a days.
