Round Ligament Pain . Or

What is a round ligament?

The round ligament goes from near the top of the uterus on each side down to the pubic mound. It helps keep the uterus tilted forward. The only time you hear about it is during pregnancy. As the uterus enlarges, the round ligament stretches. When the pregnant woman moves, it can spasm, causing pain in the groin. The pain is not dangerous, but it can be distressingRound Ligament Pain During Pregnancy

Round ligament pain?

Good. You seem to have covered the basics. You did the preg test. And even if you were so early preg that the test couldn't catch it, we mommies know that pain all too well, and know it doesn't start out in week1. :)

But you do know what that pain is, after that first pregnancy, we know EXACTLY what that pain is. :) Don't we?

But you don't have to be pregnant to pull a muscle or ligament.

Back when I was in high school, I pulled a muscle in my stomach. I got off the bus, and was walking up a hill to school, like I'd done many times before. I didn't trip or fall or turn too fast or anything. Just all of a sudden, this horrible pain, and I couldn't even lift my foot high enough to keep going up the hill. I saw 5 doctors in 2 days before someone knew what it was. They searched for appendicitis, ovarian cysts, everything. Then the woman doing an ultrasound picked up an abnormality in the muscle in my lower abdomen. She said she'd never have known what it was, except another girl had had the same problem not 6 mos before.

Take it easy for a few days, let it heal. If it gets worse, or won't get better, or if it hurts too much to deal with, see a doctor. Mine just gave me pain meds and told me to stay in bed a couple of days, and slowly but surely it healed itself back up.

Just one woman's story. Good luck.

What can I do if my round ligament pain has going on for 22 weeks now?

Understand that there’s nothing abnormal about that and it’s likely to continue. The round ligament is a stabilizer for your uterus, which is now trying to expand several hundredfold to accomodate the fetus. It’s basically growing pains, as the ligament is forced to expand/elongate and thicken at a fast rate to keep up with the rapidly growing fetus.Round ligament pain | BabyCenter

Round Ligament pain..or UTI symptoms?

I'm having a pain in my lower abdomen, it's usually on either side of where I think my uterus is, and it's not a bad pain, just kind of a dull, achy one, that's just kind of there at times and then gone. Now I'm wondering, could it be a round ligament pain or maybe symptoms of UTI, because there's a possiblity that I could have either..

Round ligament pain 3 weeks pregnant?

Bear w/ me, this is my first pregnancy and I have a lot of questions!
I asked this question the other day but didn't get any helpful answers (no offense).
Whenever I go from a sitting to standing position, I get little shooting pains in my right or left side of my belly, and they are gone in a few short seconds. No bleeding, no cramping. (Sometimes the shooting pains go down to my grotch and are gone momentarily).
From what I googled, it sounds like RLP, but sounds way too early for that.
I called the Dr today and was told it IS way too early to feel that, but that it could be gas or cramps and not to worry about it unless I have very heavy cramping or spotting. (That definitely isn't it, I do not feel any better).
Has anyone experienced this feeling very early on before and still had a healthy pregnancy, or is it a bad sign? I'm not imagining it, I definitely feel it and it's hard to believe it's "nothing."
thank you!

Round ligament pain or something else?

I had that same problem today actually and I'm a little over 20 weeks. I took my dogs out for a walk and at the end of it, my lower abdominal area was so tender to the touch. It felt like it was pulling constantly and very achy. Almost like a constant cramp but not period like cramps. It is hard to explain! I had to go lay down for a while. Also, my ultrasound did hurt me. It was fine at first and then towards the end she kept trying to get my baby girl to move so she kept pushing the thing into me. It was so uncomfortable!

It is round ligament pain so don't worry. I was really worried too until I called my doctor. She said if something was wrong, you'd more than likely be doubling over in pain.

Can sex cause round ligament pains to 'flare up' or worsen?

Every time I have sex I feel that burning/cramping sensation in my uterus and ovaries - like round ligament pains. I start to feel them during sex and even afterwards I can feel them on and off for like 10 minutes. They aren't terrible but they do hurt pretty bad.
Has anyone experienced this? Is it round ligament pains or something else?

I'm 21 and have round ligament pain but I'm NOT pregnant?

Round ligament pain can be confused with appendicitis, ovarian cysts, severe PMS, or digestive problems. At your age, it's probably digestive problems, PMS, or appendicitis. Cysts are extremely rare for women your age, especially if you've never been pregnant before.

From month to month, PMS or cramps can actually get bad enough to cause horrible debilitating pain. It can get bad enough that you can't even stand up without screaming in pain. There's no reason for it or pattern to it. I'd be willing to bet that it's what you're going through right now. I've had months like that and I'm fairly tough (I've set my own broken bones), so whenever I admit to pain, it's got to be pretty bad.

IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) can come and go and requires a different diet or medication to help with the problem. Symptoms range from mild to severe and are different from person to person. It can cause constipation and diarrhea, or switch between the two.

Appendicitis can be checked at home if you have someone to help you. Lie down on your back and relax. At a point halfway between your belly button and the crest of your right hip, have someone slowly press down until there's a lot of pressure on that spot, then hold it down for about 15 seconds. Have them suddenly release. If you're in horrible pain and want to curl up and scream, it's the appendix. It sounds brutal, but that is a valid diagnostic test I learned in medical school.
