Thanks for the A2A.Original question:What is the best car to buy?What is the best car for a 30 year old single parent to a 7 year old boy who lives in Saskatchewan, Canada (that means 8 months of snow)Who wants a gas efficient car?Help please.First off, I really don't like questions that ask for the "best" of anything unless there is a plethora of details narrowing down the choices.  I'm not scolding but I am letting you know what I would buy in your situation.Subaru.  Every model is 4-wheel (all wheel) drive and that's great for traction in less than dry conditions.  The use a 4-cylinder engine which is easier on gas than a 6 or 8 like you would get in an SUV or full-size truck.  They have reasonably good build quality and will last for a very long time.  They are pricey in the used market but they have some of the best discounts from sticker as a new purchase.  Get a Legacy sedan or a Forester SUV if you need more room.Second choice: Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV.  Excellent build quality, very good mileage and resale value.In deference to the the other answers a Grand Cherokee is a poor choice for mileage and for reliability.  I owned a brand new '94 GC and it was the worst vehicle I've ever owned, and I've owned many.You didn't specify new or used, coupe or SUV.  Makes it difficult to know what you might like.

Whether it is highways or bad roads you won't find discomfort in good sedan. In ghat section also sedan does it work greatly and gives more pleasurable driveCity driving : Comparing with SUV city drive with sedan will be easier . You don't need lots of space to turn . And beacause of luxurious interiors you won't get tired in city traffics.Mileage : Sedan will give you more mileage than SUV . And most important sedan offers you petrol varient while most of the SUV’s not.Performance: The well designed aerodynamic shape of car will give you great performance. Most of the sedan and does 0-100 in 10 seconds.Latest technology: How much you are paying for sedan that much it will give feedback . Most of the sedans comes with latest technology equipments.Budget : Sedans are cheaper than SUVs. Yes, this is common.I often use this trick when trying to get a nice seat on a plane.   Even you already had a seat assigned (or not) the best approach is to get  VERY early to the counter check-in process at the airport.  There are several reasons for that:a) The Airline employees are fresh and attentive to your requests: they are most likely to try to please you.  If you get there late, near the flight check-in closing time, the airline employees will be mad, pissed off because of being there several hours, tired of dealing with many travelers and all their issues...b) Getting early, of course, ensures the "non allocated seats" are still available, so, if you ask the attending person for a better seat. It is highly probable you can get one.   Pre 9/11, I used to get many 1st class upgrades with my airline employee id (when I was one myself) with my wife as well !  This no longer happens sad to say.   But, I often get much better seats this way: getting early.c) Do your homework: visit sites such as www.seatguru.com and find out which type of aircraft you will be flying in and learn which are the best seats or the ones you would like to be seated at.  This way you can ask for specific seats (or areas) in the specific type of arcraft assigned to your flight.Most of the time, when being seat relocated at the counter, if this is an airline employee action, you won't get charged extra (there is no guarantee of that, of course).  They can and they will if they decide so ... so be sure its a complimentary move.Last but not least, remind that the airline has the final word in (almost) everything, including extreme conditions such as denying someone to board a plane.
