Sardinia Vs Sicily Who Is The Best

Sardinia, Sicily, or Cyprus in October?

I will be studying abroad in Florence for the fall semester and plan to do some traveling with my mom during mid October. I wanted to go somewhere with fairly warm weather (high 70s-80s) if possible and would be extremely interested in snorkeling if it was still possible during this time of year. Obviously getting to Sardinia or Sicily would be less expensive than Cyprus and I wanted to know which place would be the warmest, has the best beaches, and the most interesting stuff to do, such as tours, hikes, or architecture. Thanks a lot for your help!

What are some differences between Sicily and Sardinia?

That they are two different regions in Italy...all italian regions got differents amongst each other but they also got lots of similarities, Sicily and Sardinia does, also the people are similar but Sardinians are, in general, more darker.

If you can only do one (in June), would it be Sicily, Sardinia or Southern Italy (Puglia region)?

I will choose and suggest Sicily because eventhough Sardinia is untouched and beautiful. Sicily lets you enjoy the Italian life with the feeling of disconnected to the world and lost in nature’s bliss. It gives you the likes of sunbathing on beaches, enjoying crystal clear waters, visiting the history in Palermo and other places and the best for me is the feeling of trekking on top of the most active volcano on earth-Mount Etna. You can scubadive in those water and then meanwhile have the most exotic seafood in the entire world in one of the most homely feeling restaurants. The above photo is rocks on Mount Etna.Snow capped summit of Etna.Fish market of Sicily.Hope you think about it and enjoy your trip.

What is the better choice to visit: Sardinia or Sicily?

I’m from the north of Italy (so basically, a foreigner in Sicily and Sardinia), and I’ve been to both. They are stunning islands, and each is better under different aspects. If you want a sun and sea vacation, then Sardinia wins this, hands down. It’s arguably home to the best beaches in Europe. Crystal-clear waters, pink sands and breathtaking panoramas. Its coast is also full of small bays where you might not see anyone else for the entire day. Sicily’s coast is less sandy. There are some nice beaches, but they pale when compared to Sardinia. So, Sardinia is better for a sea vacation. If you’re looking for culture, just consider that you’re in Italy – there’s something interesting in every angle. Sicily is full of Ancient Greek monuments (think of Valle dei Templi, an enormous archeological site with well-preserved ancient buildings near Agrigento), as well as fine examples of Arab architecture dating from the Muslim domination on the island. Sardinia’s own extraordinary culture baggage includes the nuraghi, built by the Nuragic civilization which settled on the island in the Bronze Age. Still, Sicily has a lot more to see, so I’ll say that Sicily is better for a cultural vacation.Italy is also synonym for food, and Sicily wins by a landslide here for me. Sardinia’s cuisine is very limited – and this explains the lack of Sardinian restaurants in the rest of Italy. They use a lot of meat and cheese and, despite it being an island, fish is barely present in their regional dishes. On the other hand, Sicilian cuisine is extremely varied, also thanks to the many cultures the island has seen through the centuries. Sicilian fresh fish is definitely the best in Italy, with its tuna and shrimps being sought-after everywhere. Their desserts, most of which were heavily inspired by the Arabs, are my personal favorites. The only problem is that their cuisine includes a lot of frying and massive portions, making it quite hard to digest. Still, Sicily has far better food than Sardinia. There are also many other things to consider. Sardinia has more tranquillity, Sicily is cheaper and more Italian tourism-oriented… either way, I love both islands and I heavily recommend you to visit both!

Have you been to Sardinia?

Dear Missy, Sardinia is a nice island, ones the best of mediterranea sea....so there are many interesting places to visit, the best part is on the eastcost mostly the "costa smeralda" with porto cervo is beautiful place to spend time and go to beaches around,i suggest you to start from the north east (santa teresa di gallura) and follow southest (la maddalena, porto cervo, san teodoro, orosei) about food in sardinia you can find a lot of "agriturismi" where eating homede food and good wine.

What is the best time to travel to Sardinia?

A beach holiday can be enjoyed from May to October in Sardinia (Italy) as the east and west coasts experience their wettest and coldest months at winter time during November to MarchThe wet season of the island (Nov-Feb) brings rainy days and thunderstorms, but these are usually brief. All island is best avoided during the rainy period (Nov-Feb). During these months, many of the beach resorts close, re-opening in mid April until first 15 days of October. October usually have a very mild climate.http://www.blualghero-sardinia.c...
