Saturn Sl Lock Cylinder Issue

1998 Saturn SL2 won't start due to electrical issue?

I think the security system on my Saturn SL has shut down the ignition system in car and it won't start. Battery is fine. Symptoms: Turning the key to start doesn't produce a click. Some interior accessory power is also disabled (door locks, radio, clock etc.) but lights, wipers, and horn all work fine. Jump start doesn't work. Sometimes disconnecting the battery, waiting, and reconnecting will work. Eventually this procedure works but I've had to wait days. In fact it's the only procedure that works!. I know the car will start if the clock on the radio comes on and door locks work. It's an intermittent problem such that now I am afraid to drive the car anywhere. Believe the problem is associated with the security interlock system. I think its the security system because I had the same problem when the remote key-less entry system disabled the ignition - exactly the same symptoms. I stopped using the remote key-less over a year ago and now the problem has come back. Two car repair shops can't fix it. Help!

Glove box stuck on a Saturn SL-1?

My glove box will not open. It doesn't have a lock on it, I don't think I pushed any weird buttons, but the glove box simply will not open! I tried taking a crowbar to it, but ended up just denting the interior paneling... the metal parts that hold the glove box shut are firmly in place and will not budge (I may rip the plastic parts off with the crowbar, but the metal parts aren't going to move!)

Any ideas? I have a 1995 Saturn SL-1.

ABS light came on in Saturn Vue?

Well the ABS light is telling you that you have a brake problem. That you no longer have anti-lock up. So if you prest the pedal hard they will lock up or grab. Yopu have a sensor out on atlease one wheel. It is located with a coumputer test to see which one is out. It could a ware out shoes or pad. It sound like you had a partly lock up wheel. You can still have a bad capliter or wheel cylinder that didn't get checked to see if it was releasing. By driving it you rub away a lot of the pad or most it and the sensor came back on.

Saturn overheating 1993?

It's possible you have a bad ECM (engine control module). If everything else checks ok, it may be that the ECM isn't activating the fan as it should.

Why does the steering wheel lock up while driving?

What Causes the Steering Wheel to Lock Up? | eHow Losing control of your car's steering is a terrifying experience, one that can lead to a crash with horrific consequences. If this happens to you, then you must try to bring your vehicle to a stop at once and determine the cause of steering wheel lock-up before you drive your car again. There are a number of reasons why your car's steering has suddenly locked up including:Key MechanismNot every steering wheel problem occurs when you have the transmission engaged and are heading down the road. Sometimes, drivers report that their steering wheel stays locked even after inserting the key into the ignition. When that happens, the car probably cannot be started let alone driven. More than likely the key assembly has worn out and needs to be replaced. However, before calling your auto mechanic, try to move the wheels to the left and to the right as sometimes the steering column "catches," a problem that can be resolved if you jiggle the wheel.Lock PinGeneral Motors issued a pair of recalls for the C5 Chevrolet Corvette (1997-2004 models) due to problems with locked steering. In addition to being locked while starting, owners complained that in some cases their cars could be driven but with no control of steering. This problem is due to a lock pin that fails to withdraw fully, allowing contact between the pin and lock plate. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA ) website (see Resources) for information about recalls #04006B and #04006C or call your Chevrolet dealer.ConclusionWhile the three causes mentioned here are among the top reasons why a steering wheel may lock up, there could be other reasons. Contact an auto mechanic for assistance, or if you are handy with repairs, consult a Haynes or Chilton repair manual (or anything similar) for guidance.

Does the 2000 Saturn SL1 come with standard ABS?

Look under the hood at the master cylinder. It's the tannish colored plastic part with a black cap that's mounted on top of a silver colored piece. From what I can gather off of Advance Auto's website, the lines coming off the driver's side of the silver piece means it doesn't have ABS. Lines coming off the passenger side means it does. Older Saturns have a very large assembly built onto the side of the master cylinder (the silver part).

In short, no, ABS was not standard on the 2000 SL1.

Where is the trunk light fuse in a 1998 Saturn SL2?

Two things to check, fuses and connection.

Fuses - first off, if you are not having other noticeable problems, then it is probably not the fuse, because according to the 2001 SL owners manual, the fuse would also include the interior dome light, power mirrors, power door locks and other thingys. But if it is the fuse, try this location...Saturns have 2 fuse boxes (1 under the hood and one in the car). The interior lights would be located in the fuse box that is in the car. That fuse box is located...well...if you were sitting in the front passenger seat, the fuse box would be right next to your left knee, just under the stereo, off to the passenger side of the center console. Once you find the fuse box, the fuse is probably labeled "BODY" and should be a Red (10 amp) fuse. If you are lucky, there might be a small white plastic tool in the fuse box that is a fuse puller...very useful.

Connection - I have a sense that this is more likely your problem. The most susceptible connection is right next to the trunk latch. If you recently stuffed too much stuff in your truck like I did moving my livelihood to and from college, you might have knocked this connection loose. Simply make sure those connectors are connected securely.

What are some creative ways to disable a car from running?

Creative ways to disable a car from running? Got it…I like the potato in exhaust idea! Used to do something similar while standing next to scooters/motorbikes at traffic lights by putting your foot on the exhaust. Friends got agitated, strangers mostly confused.Anyway, five creative ways that will definitely disable a car from running. We don’t mind the owner, or his beloved racing machine now, do we?Hmm, maybe we do, not sure. Therefore, I will give five options ranging from playful to psycho that meet your criteria.Right! Let’s go.Playful: steal the tires and store them in your barn or garage, the engine will keep running and the car will not. You can choose to give back the tires and apologize for acting funny. (or sell them online)Rude: make a small hole or leak in the cooling fluid line or oil lines and give it some time. It will eventually stop the car from working if it goes unnoticed and needs a mechanic to repair, but you have given them a chance to pay attention.Cruel: mix some sand or sugar with the fuel and wait for the car to stop, forever. You will need to change the entire engine and this being expensive and time-consuming, it is quite cruel.Horrendous: cut the cable behind one of the wheels until you see (brake) fluid leaking. No one knows when the vehicle will stop running but it will stop, at some point, at some speed, against something. “evil laugh”Psycho: Buy an iron jerrycan and fill it with fuel;Call your lawyer and schedule a meeting,Undo the car from one of the spark plug cables,Put the aforementioned cable in the jerrycan and make sure it is well hidden,Get your clapperboard, camera, and popcorn and get to a safe distance,Wait for the driver to put the key in the ignition, and… ACTION!Good luckPlease, feel free to give us an update on your decision and the end results!“more evil laughs”

Why do my hazard lights work, but not my turn signals?

Hazard lights and turn signals use the same bulb, so it is not the bulb, the lamp, or the cables to them. Turn signals only work when the ignition is on; hazard lights work whether the ignition is on or not. The two systems have separate power supplies, so they have separate fuses. You may have a blown fuse.Different vehicles use different circuits, and it is not possible to accurately diagnose the fault with the small amount of information provided. You need a circuit diagram and a voltmeter, and a continuity tester. First locate and test the turn signal fuse. Do you have voltage to and from the turn signal switch? The hazard light switch is not a simple on/off switch. In the “on” position, a fused battery feed connects to left and right turn signal. In the “off” position, the left turn switch wire is connected to the left turn lamp and the right turn switch wire is connected to the right turn lamp, so there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs. The fault could be a fuse, turn signal switch, hazard switch, flasher unit, or a broken wire or connection.
