Scabs Appearing On Arms Itchy

Weird Scars Appearing on Body?

For the past month or so I've noticed strange scars appearing on my torso and arms. They are scab-like, dry and non-itchy. I went to the doctor because I thought they were cancerous. He looked at them and said they weren't but he didn't test them. He gave me fluconazole which sort of helped with their appearance, but they won't heal.

What could be happening?

Inside of my ears are dry, itchy, scabbing and leaking clear fluid. Help!?

I've had this ear problem for well over 2 years now. I've seen many doctors (kind of annoying, $20 co-pay each time I've gone) I've seen an ear, eye, throat specialist, AND I've been to the hospital for this problem. Usually, they are just dry and itchy and then they scab over. When there is so much scabbing that it is really uncomfortable (esp. when I am sleeping, as I sleep on my right side and my ears become itchy and painful when I put pressure on them) I peel them off (I know, gross, and prob. not a wise decision, but it sometimes is unbearable!) then they leak this clear kind of smelly fluid. Two times now they have become kind of infected (not sure if it was actually an infection or just part of what's going on) and they swelled up so much and were so painful I was crying for hours on end (and i never cry due to pain! Broke my arm when I was six and didn't shed a tear until someone touched it!!!) It was a throbbing pain, I had a high fever, and they were so red and swollen I went to the ER and they did nothing except give me hydro cortisone (which did nothing!) I went to the doctors that Monday and they gave me some antibiotics, ear drops, and pain killers and after staying on both for about 10 days, the swelling and pain went away. It seemed like the scabbing and everything else did too, but a few days later it was back. About a year later, I went through the same thing. Woke up and they were just as swollen and painful than last time, went to the doctors and got a different antibiotic and got the pain killers again and after everything was done, the symptoms went away and returned about 2 weeks later. Weirdly enough, it seems like I don't really produce ear wax anymore because everything is so dry and just weird. My mom has a similar problem, though hers aren't nearly as bad as mine and have never become infected. I don't think this is a common product we both use because we are the only ones in my house that have this problem, out of 6 people that live here, and the only product we both use that's the same is our foundation, which my sister also uses and also doesn't go INSIDE your ears. Please help, I'm tired of spending money on prescriptions, doctor AND hospital visits on this problem when it hasn't even been solved!!!!!!!!!!! If you know what this could be or where I could look/ask for help PLEASE let me know, I am desperate!!!!!!!

HELP!! Scabs that appear out of nowhere are spreading!!!!?

My sister and cousin have been almost growing it seems, these mysterious scabs on their legs, arms, and chins. They start out as something that looks like a pimple and in a day become something that looks like a gigantic scab. By the next day, they have four huge ugly scabs in the same area that itch a lot and seem to appear out of no where. This has strangely begun happening to them just suddenly in the past week. It hasn't happened to me yet though. Does anyone have a clue as to what the cause of this could be, what the heck these scab things are, and how to prevent them?? PLEASE!! It's soooo bizarre and it's really starting to scare me as well as the rest of my family.

Dry Patches of Skin Turning to Scabs?

I noticed one day this weird patch of dry, flaky skin on the bottom half of my arm and it only bothered me because it was kind of itchy, but then it got bigger, and then small scabs formed on it. Then, all of sudden, I had three or four more flaky patches of skin on my upper arm. All of them have since gotten bigger and started forming scabs, though it's not like I ever broke the skin from scratching them or something, they've never even bled. The scabs have just popped up on their own. The first one's scabs have since started disappearing, but the skin is still kind of dry. Any idea what these could be?

Why does scratching cause scabs?

Thanks for the A2A.When you scratch as hard as you evidently do, you break the skin. The body's response is to protect itself, which means that it clots any bleeding, sends white blood cells to attack the bacteria entering the blood stream, and all of this forms a scab.

Red spots on arms and legs that scab?

I have had these spots for well over 3 weeks now. I thought they were bed bug bites because sometimes they itched, but there aren't enough marks for them to be bed bug bites. There are a count of 7 of these marks on my body at the time, as a few have healed.

They start out red, itchy, and then they scab, even if I have not touched them. I saw a Dermatologist, she thought it was absolutely nothing to worry about and gave me a topical steroid called Cordran SP. I don't think it's helped too much. I was on anti-biotics for Staph from a normal Dr (who mistook it for staph) so my Dermatologist could not take a skin culture.

Clearly both of these people were wrong. I'm 20 years old, I don't think it could be Shingles, I was vaccinated a very long time ago for Chicken Pox.
Any one else have experience with this? I was wondering if it was allergies, but nothing has really changed in my life (but I had mono in February, so my immune system is still bad, I've been having unbelievable amounts of canker sores in my mouth)

I usually get bad allergies at this time, like itchy eyes and nose, but for some reason I still haven't, so could this be a trade off? I get this red, scabbed bumps?

NOTE: These are only on my arms and my lower legs. There was a small spot on my left butt cheek (went away) and one tiny one on the side of my foot.
These marks are no where else.

How can I get rid of a scab on my chin?

If you have scabs on your face, there are a few things you should do, and some other things you shouldn’t do. Here are the things you should do:Keep it clean. Gently cleanse the area every day with warm water and soap, and use some kind of anti-bacterial or anti-septic over-the-counter salve (such as Neosporin) or facial cleanser on the scabs to ensure infection does not take root.Inspect the affected places for signs of infection (oozing, changing in size or color, warm to the touch, and painful). This is unlikely to occur from acne, but it’s best to make sure anyway.Give your body time to heal. It might take up to a couple of weeks for facial scabs to go away, and it may even take up to six months for the scars left behind by healed scabs to disappear (if the scars left even vanish at all), but they will mend. Time is as essential as cleanliness.Check scabs for signs of healing. Sometimes, a scab may linger long after the wound has healed, and it’s safe to scratch the scab off. Don’t do this for at least ten days, just to be on the safe side. If you do, be sure to moisten the scabs with warm water so they’re easier to remove. And here are a few things you shouldn’t do:Don’t pick the scabs. Not at first anyway. The urge might be insufferable, but try your best not to scratch at the wounds. Doing so can tear the skin back open and possibly introduce bacteria into the area. This will not only encourage infection and scarring, but prolong the healing process. Use an anti-itching ointment if you can’t resist the hankering to dig your skin to the bone.Don’t use make-up to hide scabs on your face. The scab will need to breathe a little to heal, and caking cosmetic cover-up onto the affected spot will cut off air flow and promote moisture. And said dampness will soften the scab and make it more liable to be rubbed off. That being said, don’t bandage the scabs either, for the same reason.Don’t wipe your face after washing it. Instead, just lightly pat it dry with a towel. The reasoning behind this is pulling a towel across your face while the scabs are still wet and weakened might split the skin open.

How to stop picking eczema scabs?

I can not stop picking my scabs from eczema ..I really do try..I'm sick of the scars they leave they are so ugly!! But it's like I'm going crazy if I can not pick them so I end up doing it and if I'm in public I will excuse myself to the bathroom to pick them it's diving me crazy

Does removing the scabs off a healing wound speed the healing process?

Scab removal is on a case by case basis. If it is thick dry and adherent, then in my wound center we would cover with a dry dressing and see you back in a week. If it starts to separate and get moist around the edges, then you may have to remove it, either surgically or through other means. As Dr Harris noted, at some point the scab, which is initially part of the healing process, is going to inhibit wound healing progress. It is a judgement call.  Wound centers are very good at this.
