Scared About Dentist Appointment

I'm really scared about my dentist appointment?!?

Hi, I'm Emily and I'm 14. My teeth are so painful for me. I have so many cavities and and my gums are bright red and swollen. I haven't been to the dentist since I was 8. I used to go weeks without brushing my teeth and now they are horribly painful. I had 3 crowns put on the last time I was at the dentist on 2 molars and a bottom tooth. I'm finally going to the dentist, what will they do??

Dentist appointment tomorrow, really really scared :'( need comforting :'(?

I'm 16 and I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I and really really scared. Last time I was around a year ago. Anyways, I have some yellow stains that wont go away on two the gum line of two of my bottom teeth. What will they do? Will they clean it? and if they do will it hurt? I am seriously freaking out and crying. That's how scared I am of them. :'( Is the yellow stains really bad? I brush and floss my teeth everyday and it's still there.

I just hate the dentists because they're always so rude, unfriendly and rough on my teeth :'(

I'm scared for my dentist appointment today?

I have a dentist appointment today for my first dental cleaning and I am absolutely scared. Although I am embarrassed due to a tartar build up on my teeth for the past year, I know this cleaning will help me feel better. But this is my first dentist visit since I was a younger kid. I am just so scared! Do dental cleanings hurt, please help I'm super nervous?

I Haven't Had A Dentist Appointment in Awhile? Scared...Open!!?

I usually have check ups regularly twice a year so my own dental health is pretty good. You should do the same! It really helps because you'll know exactly what's wrong if something hurts inside your mouth. Plus, it's for your own good! :)

1. It depends on the personality of your dentist, so unfortunately I can't help you with this. My dentist is really nice and funny so I don't think she'll constantly bug me or anything if I skip a few check ups.

2. I'm not sure exactly how much they cost, but I'm sure it's too much. A normal appointment should be fairly cheap but if something's gone bad then you'll have to pay a lot more.

3. My last check up was about half a year ago, so it's about time I went again ;]

Oh and if you just brush well, floss and keep down on the sugar, you're teeth can be helped. My friend had 3 cavities (wayyyy to much sugar!) at one time and her dentist fixed them up in a jiffy!

Hope this helps

=)

Taking halcion for dentist appointment?

I'm having two teeth pulled on Monday. The dentist prescribed me halcion for anxiety as he will not be using IV sedation.

I'm quite scared to take the halcion, as I don't like drugs in the first place and this particular one seems to make people forget where they are and what they do.

I don't like the thought of saying or doing something out of charcter (saying insultive things, being violent, being stupid).

Should I be scared, or trust my dentist? What are your experiences with halcion?

I am on klonopin but it seems very weak compared to what I read about this drug even though it is in the same class (benzos).

How to stop being nervous before a dentist appointment?

It will get better with time, but I am 67 and still nervous..or at least my blood pressure is up..

Dealing with anxiety before dentist appointment?

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I am very scared. I have two cavities, one of them very big because my former dentist didn't fix them and this is actually the second time the dentist tries to fix them because on my past visit I was very nervous and the anesthesia apparently didn't kick in and I felt pain. People have recommended me the following remedies to deal with my anxiety before tomorrow.

-Linden Tea
-Stress B Complex (vitamin supplement)
-Valerian Root

Do they work? Are there any other natural remedies I can use for tomorrow? Thanks in advance!

What do you do when you are scared of dentists?

Set up an appointment just to do xrays and comprehensive exam. This is a great way to meet the staff and the dentist. Establishing trust is key to working through your fears. Before you even get that far, ask friends, co-workers, neighbors who they see for their dental care, research their ratings online, and narrow down your choices until you get one that you want to schedule with. You can get a sense of the office just from the way they answer the phone. If they act like they don't have time for you, then you need not bother with them, either. Once you schedule, and come in, they will prioritize your treatment and this would be a good time to share a little about your fears. They will discuss things like premedication to help you relax or gas you can breathe while you are having work done to help you relax. You can also bring ear buds to listen to music while they work to tune out sounds. If you have a dentist and staff to help you through your anxiety, you may find over time you will overcome these fears and not need any sedation to get through your treatment.

Dentist Appointment tomorrow afternoon. Im really scared?

You should never go to a dentist that you don't trust. If he does not seem interested in keeping you comfortable, then he probably isn't. Go to a new dentist with the treatment plan given to you by this dentist (They should have given you a print out). There are plenty of dentists that care a great deal about reversing the notion that going to the dentist is unpleasant or painful. Other than that, I would suggest taking a sedative antihistamine like benadryl (ask your dentist before taking any medication before procedure) or asking the dentist to prescribe a sedative. Nitrous oxide gas also helps alleviate pain and anxiety. There are many oral surgeons that will put you under for wisdom tooth extraction, but keep in mind that they will not be able to treat your root canal procedures, or do your crowns. Above all else, don't let someone work on your mouth who you don't trust.
