I dnt want a lot of ppl finding out at im innocent becuase I dnt want the guys to try and take advantage of me ,

Does that Happen ?

I'm really scared of going to college?

I was the EXACT same way, like, its so hard for me to talk to people, i'm so shy, and I was just SO scared, But college is seriously amazing. After the first day you will regret that you were ever nervous. Everyone is just so chill there, everyone talks to everyone, there's no cliques, no drama, and the work is not as bad as high school makes it out to be. I actually found it to be easier since class is not every day. Teachers are so understanding and gah, I can't stress enough about how much better it is than high school. Don't stress about it too much, I mean I know its easier said than done, but truthfully, from one super shy person to another, you'll love it! Have fun :)

I am SCARED to go to COLLEGE??

First off, gratz on your admission. I got into St Johns but I live here in NYC so I cant really relate. Look on the bright side. You definately will not be bored. Pace is rather close to chinatown so you'll always have good affordable food to eat. If you're concerned about homesickness, then you should focus on becoming good friends with your roomate. You can probably find an affordable apartment if you decide to not dorm, which would give you the annual commuters grant which is $6000. If money continues to be a factor, there are plenty of part time jobs available everywhere in NYC. There are summer job programs that I take every year which are only for students. NYC may seem a bit scary to you now but you should be able to quickly get over it, though it may be biased of me to say so. Heck, if you're concerned about safety, there's a hospital across the street from Pace and a police district a few blocks over so I cant imagine a safer place.
Be more confident. It's easy to make friends here since it's quite diverse here. Anyways, good luck. =)

Is it scary to go to college far away from home?

Words of wisdom: Since you have already experienced the whole 'moving' thing, you are now better prepared to face the challenges of doing it again, as are likely throughout your life.

Now to the practical:
Apply. Do campus visits, ask what services they offer for 'long-distance' students (i.e. students form the other coast). they may have student-run support groups! Wont know unless you ask!

You are young. THIS is the time to go experience something different. Hey, if you end up in Boston, you will have to learn another language! (same applies to Brooklyn/NYC) Ok, joking aside, what better time in your life to explore? Fear of the unknown is common, but it should not paralyze you. I have seen FAR too many posts on this board from students who are "homesick" and only live 1-2 hours away from home.

To give you a personal story, which I rarely do iin this venue, this August I put my daughter on a plane for Europe for a study abroad year. We have relatives there, and everything was taken care of ahead of time. At the airport, just before she went through security, she started to cry. She said she was scared. I told her that the first time she had to walk to school by herself she was scared, but that she survived. The first time she had to babysit she was scared, but she survived. The first time she took my car out alone, she was scared, but she survived (she also survived my anger that she drained my tank dry and changed my radio station! ). So, I went on, what makes this any different from any othet time you did somethingnew? The tears dried right up.

Postscript: when she arrived, I got a SKYPE call and she was asking for more money so she could go out with her new friends!

I will leave the rest to you to absorb and process as you can.

best of luck

Im scared to go to college?

Im getting ready to go to college in a couple of days. Every one keeps telling me how this should be the best time of my life and every thing but I am so scared to go. Im not good at making friends and I didn't really like high school that much. I get good grades, and its not like I was a complete misfit in high school I was runner up for best dresses and was president in 2 school clubs. I'm just so scared that I wont make any friends at college and I don't want to leave home. I have never been good at making friends and I only have a few close friends. I haven't even talked to my roommate that much over the summer and it is mostly my fault, I suck at making sure to log into facebook and emails and stuff so she probably thinks I'm ignoring her when I really don't want to I just don't remember to and sometimes Im afraid to send messages to her because I don't know what to talk about.

How can I get over my ridiculous fear of college and making friends and actually start enjoying the fact I'm going to college?

I am going to college and my boyfriend is scared for me to go and has anxiety about it, but we are going to be about 20 minutes away from each other. What should I do?

You do not say what your boyfriend is afraid of. So much depends on the answer to this question. Is he afraid of losing you? Twenty minutes away from one another is till practically on each other’s doorstep, so it cannot be the physical distance that disturbs him. If you have just left high school, both you and your boyfriend are at an age when it’s your job to find out who you are and what you want from life. In order to do that, you have to have experiences. You must learn and grow. Sometimes that means outgrowing people and relationships. Sometimes it means learning to cherish what you already have. The world is a big, wonderful, scary, exciting place and you must find your place in it. So must he. What should you do? Be kind, but firm. Do not allow his fears to influence you. Do not let yourself be manipulated by guilt or need or anxiety. If what you and your boyfriend have is real, it will last. If not, you will both learn and grow from it. Live your life and experience college to the fullest. Have fun. Learn lots. You’ll be glad you did. Good luck.

Why am I scared of leaving my home and going to college?

Change is stressful and particularly when a young person moves away from everything they have known and is familiar, such as the neighborhood, family pets and of course, your loved ones.University will be different from your community college because you’re going to be living in a completely new environment but you will find the classes not much different than what you’re used to.The first few days will be frantic and so filled with activities you won’t have much time to be homesick. There will be introduction seminars to help you settle in. If you’re overwhelmed the student health center is available for counseling and is well equipped to handle anxiety. You’ll be settled in and given over to your books and study in no time at all. Thanks for the request.

Is it scary going to college for the first time?

It was terrifying! I decided to do something completely different than everyone from my high school. I went to college three states away where I knew no one and had no one. It was up to me to learn how to live without my parents, make friends, and get a job. My first year didn’t go so well, I didn’t really have a solid group of friends to depend on and I didn’t really get long with my roommate but I did get a job off campus and became friends with my boss and her family. I was able to depend on them so that was what made my first year worth it. My sophomore year got better, I found a group of friends I really enjoyed. I was still working for the same lady so my friendship with her grew. By my junior year, I had another job (I worked both of them) and my friendship with my group remained solid. By senior year, I spent the first semester interning in Washington DC (which was much closer to home than my school was so that was nice) so I had to make new friends. There were some other people from my school there also so I was able to meet up with them. By my last semester of my senior year, I went down to working one job and my circle of friends blossomed. We had a lot of fun. I had my car on campus so I wasn’t really left relying on people anymore. All in all, the most terrifying experience of my life ended up being the best. I still talk to my friends and my boss today. It’ll be two years in April since I graduated. Don’t be afraid, just embrace it.
