Sciatica Back Pain With A 60 Year Old Man. Help

Sciatica (back pain) with a 60 year old man. Help?

I am a 60 year old man with Sciatica pain in my lower back. I have now been resting for 2 weeks and the pain isnt gone yet. Im sleeping on a flat mat on the floor, and only getting up to go to the bathroom.
My pain is thinner than before, but i cant stand up or press on the leg that hurts while the brife few steps i take to the bathroom.
Any similar cases? What did you do to reduce the pain? How long does it take to recover and walk again?

I have a lower back pain and i'm 13 years old PLEASE DIAGNOSE THIS!?

Low back pain is a common musculoskeletal symptom that may be acute or chronic. Low back pain is often accompanied by sciatica, which is a pain that involves the sciatic nerve and is felt in the lower back, the butt, and the back of the thighs. It could be ankylosing spondylitis which is a form of arthritis that causes chronic pain in the lower back and it is most commonly seen in men between the ages of 16 and 35. And about 80% of patients recover from 4 to 6 weeks. But just in case I'm wrong, you should go to a doctor to get it checked out.

How long does Prednisone take to heal sciatic pain?

It only masks the pain so it didn't do anything to get rid of the pain. Medical people do that hoping the release will come in the meantime and when it doesn't they are stumped for it's easy to get rid of that pain. Tight muscles in your lower back are pressing onto the nerves leaving your spine that go to the legs to cause pains in your legs. This includes the sciatic. To get rid of the pains you have to free up your back muscles to release the pressure off those nerves and here's how to free them up:
Back:
(do while sitting on a chair)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front, and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm as straight as possible. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, then release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

What can i do about chronic back pain?

You could try some accupunture sessions. My nursing instructor used them for chronic back pain and she said after about 4 treatments she hasn't ever had the pain again. You should also see a chiropractor to check for any nerve compression, bugling discs, hernia, etc.

Aren't I too young for lower back pain?

Back pain can occur at any age for a variety of reasons.
You seem to have pinned it down to your long stretches of time sitting in a chair. That is definitely a reason for concern.

Take breaks through the day to stand and stetch. Taking a walk during your lunch break is also recommended.

A proper chair is important. There are ergonomic chairs that encourage good posture and relieve pressure on your back.

It's not actually your back muscles that are cause for concern as it's your abdominal muscles that support your back. If you incorporate abdominal exercises into your routine, that will help lower back pain. Sometimes taking a 5 minute break to do a few crunches will help. When I'm already experiencing pain I find it helpful to go to the bathroom where I can lay on the floor on my stomach with my arms down (flat against my sides) and lift my head shoulders and torso off as high off the floor as I can (you'd look similar to a seal if you're doing it properly). Hold the position and you'll feel the stress drain from the small of your back.

If you can't afford a bed, check with the Salvation Army... in my area they even sell brand new beds at great prices. For those in dire need, beds are donated.

Another thing to look into is an inversion table or an inversion rack. The racks are more affordable but don't allow you to adjust the level of incline. But someone as young as yourself could easily hang upside down without worry.

And finally... look into a chiropractic visit. You may need an adjustment.

How do I get relief from knee pain in the age 70-80 years?

If your pain is acute, came on quickly, you should probably see a doctor. If you live in the United States where our food supply is unregulated and government food recommendations are more about selling grain than good health, you might learn from my experience:My StoryI was a thin, life long runner (20-30 miles/week, street running) until I hit 50. And then I developed serious knee pain. Two different sports docs said it was arthritis and suggested if I wanted to walk well the rest of my life, I probably needed to hang up my running shoes. I did and gained 30# that year. Then joined a gym, traded some of the fat for muscle, but never lost much weight, which seems to be a typical gym experience. I biked and learned to rollerbladed for stress and to burn some calories. I got a lot of arthritis pain relief over the years from taking SAMe, an OTC (over the counter in the US) natural enzyme that declines as you age and helps your joins deal with inflammation. In spring of 2013 all that changed when I read the Wheat Belly book by William Davis MD. Tried it hoping to lose a few pounds and maybe the love handles. Less than 2 weeks into it, I realized I hadn't taken the SAMe since day 10, and my knees were PAIN FREE. Other joins were much better too, as well as skin and hair. Now on a good day, I literally feel 20 years younger. At 69 I'll never do 30 mile weeks running on asphalt again, but I can do 200 yard flat out wind sprints down the beach barefoot like a teenager. You can't imagine how great that feels! All my joints feel better, pain free, much better flexibility, and smooth motion. My hair and skin are much better. On a good day I feel 20 years younger. On a bad day, like when I been accidentally wheated trying foods at a pitch in or restaurant, the arthritis returns and my stomach get upset, and I feel depressed for several days.To fully understand why modern dwarf wheat is so bad for so many people, not just those with Celiac or wheat sensitivities, you should pick up the book, Grain Brain by a Dr. Perlmutter. It is more about the neurological and mental aspects of dietary inflammation, whereas Davis talks more about diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and physical ailments.Robb Wolf's book the Paleo Solution. The Original Human Diet, is also excellent. He covers the evolutionary biology and athletic performance side of things.Real People Get Real Healthy Real Fast When They Eat REAL FOOD!© #WheatBelly #Paleo diets

Random bursts of sharp lower back pain in what feels like base of spine, cause?

Well I can help you with your lower back problems since I have been dealing with back problems for 4 years and I'm 26 y/o male. Is your sharp pain strictly in your back? Does it go down in to you buttocks region or part of your legs? If you have pain that goes in to your legs, its a bulge disc or herniated disc. The difference is the bulge disc has yet to collapse the fluid from the spine, so the herniated disc is the worse because it can strictly compress on the nerve in that region which will cause sharp nerve pain down certain part of your leg. Like me for instance, I have L4-L5, L5-S1 disc herniation, where my pain goes down the outside of my legs, and its very excruiciating. But if you do not have any pain going down your legs, then its only muscles, but you need to take it easy, because if you don't you are putting more pressure on your discs, and it will lead to bulging disc or herniated disc. You don't want that, because you will live with that for the rest of your life. I had L5-S1 discectomy, and it did not help at all. Now my neuro surgeon wanted to fuse the L4-L5, and L5-S1 disc with 6 metal screws, and two metal rods but I did not do the surgery due to it was a 50/50 chance it can get worse. So I live with my back pain, and it's hard because you make the vicodins, the percocets, prednizone meds habit. Those meds can ruin your liver but are the only meds that really help the back. You can try neurontin, but for me I am allergic to it. Best result to see if you have an herniated disc is an MRI, or a discogram. And if you have a discrogram done, be prepared for the longest 40 minutes excruicating pain of your life. They have to inject really big needles into your disc, and they can only numb your skin, and cannot give you any kind of pain meds or sedative during it so they know exactly where you are hurting in the disc space. But once they are done, they will dope you up pretty well, but during the procedure, it was the worse pain ever. So if your back does not get better, and you get leg pain, you need to see your PCP immediately to get an MRI done. Good luck with that, I hope you didn't do what I did, because if so, it's with you forever unless they come out with some good treatment for it in the future.
