Was the westward expansion of the United States justified?

Really depends on your point of view. From the United States government point of view, Westward Expansion created more land for farmers and settlers, more natural resources for the United States, and built the United States into a major world power. From the viewpoint of many Native Americans, westward expansion was the continuation of American genocide of the Native American. This includes the thousands of broken treaties and the moving of Indians west of the Mississippi River during the 1830s (Indian Removal Act) during the Trail of Tears. This also includes the massacre of Indians at Sand Creek in 1864, Wounded Knee in 1890, and many other places. From an environment point of view, the settling of the Great Plains was a ecological disaster with the erosion of land resulting in the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.If the USA hadn’t expanded west, then we might have remained a small country with less major natural resources than we have today. Would this have changed history? Would slavery have remained in the South thus no conflict regarding the expansion of slavery? Would we have not become an imperialist country in 1898? Would we have avoided World Wars One and Two? Many new questions. Who knows the answers?

How do I use the AUX input on the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD time warner cable box?

You cannot. The input, if it has one, serves no purpose. You need to connect your console to the TV directly, with a selector switch if you have to.

Time Warner Cable DVR Box problems?

That answer above is incorrect!! Stuck on App on the front display could be one of many things. Could be the connections. Have you changed them prior to the box not working? Make sure if your tv is Hd then your cables are connected on the back of tv also make sure coaxial cable is secure. If so, and you've rebooted and still gets stuck on app then it could be only 2 things. Either a signal problem which comes thru the wiring or a box problem. Since the box will not turn on you have to call your cable company and go thru the walkthru with them I know even though you did a million times!! And they will run some tests on your signal and the box. They will end up sending you a tech to fix or asking if you want to get a new one at timewarner store in your area DEPENDING on the results of the testing that had done over the phone.

Comcast Remote Setup?

If your remote control doesn’t work after you have programmed it:

Press the Cable button on your remote to make sure the remote is in Cable Mode.
Make sure there is nothing between the remote and the receiver that would block the signal. Aim the remote directly at the receiver's front panel, not at the TV, VCR, or DVD.
Stand directly in front of the TV and receiver to reduce the angle between the remote and the receiver.
Firmly press and release buttons on the remote one at a time.
Change channels using the buttons on the receiver's front panel.
Replace the batteries in the remote.
If your remote doesn’t work after trying all of the above, contact Comcast.

Putting the remote in Cable Mode

If your Digital Cable remote control doesn't respond when you press a button, the remote may not be in Cable Mode.

To put the remote in Cable Mode:

Press the Cable button.
Take the batteries out of the remote and put them back in.
Press the up triangle button on the front of the converter box.
Replace the batteries in the remote.

If your remote doesn't work after trying all of the above, you may need a replacement. Call 1-800-XFINITY to request a new remote.

Go to Comcast select the remote that's the same as yours and program it by following the steps. Use all of the available codes until one operates your Explorer 8300HD: Scientific Atlanta Codes 01877, 00877, 00477, 00008 www.customer.comcast.com

Circuit Breaker Trips?

I will try to make this as short as possible.

Time Warner Cable came out to set up service. We have a Scientific Atlantic 8300HDC box. When the tech tried to plug in the TV after everything was connected, the circuit breaker tripped. Another time the HDMI cord sparked. He assumed it was the TV. Here's what followed: we tried out 5 different TVs. It did the same thing. Switched EVERY cord, switched to different outlets, changed the DVR box 3 times. We've tried everything we can think of. We even disconnected the coaxial cable from the DVR and only connected the DVR to the TV. When we went to plug in the TV, there was a buzzing noise and then the breaker tripped again. Maintenance (not an electrician) tested one outlet with that thing that lights up to let you know the electricity is grounded or whatever. They are 3-prong outlets by the way. But is it possible for the tester to be wrong?

My landlord refuses to send out an electrician as she doesn't believe that power would be coming through the outlet if there were any type of problem.

What could the problem be? Could it be bad electrical wiring in the apartment even though the tester says otherwise? The building was constructed in 1954 if that means anything. Please help. I feel like I've done all that I can. Thanks in advance.
