Seborea Anything To Treat It Doctor Prescribed Shampoo But Isnt Working

I need help treating seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp!!!?

HI, i know you can wash your hair with steroid shampoos to treat seborrheic dermatitis but im black and i dont wash my hair every day. I wash it every two weeks but i dont want to wash my hair with that shampoo bc it thins your hair out and may cause hair loss. I saw online that dr's can prescribe a special steroid oil and i was wondering if anyone knew any over-the-counter products that worked as well. I dont want to go to a dermatologist again so just OTC products please (if any) :)!!! Thanks in advance!

Is retin-a or retinol bad for seborrheic dermatitis?

My dermatologist prescribed me an acne medication and specifically told me not to put it on areas that I have dermatitis. She said it would make my dermatitis worse. Which makes sense…because my acne medication dries out my acne and it wouldn't make any sense to put it on my already extremely dry skin. Try using Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). It is great for both dermatitis and acne! I saw results in as little as one day. The smell is awful but it goes away after 10 mins. Simply apply ACV 2 times a day with a cotton ball. It will initially burn a little bit but then it will go away. It has worked better than my prescriptions. Good luck!

Personally, I would recommend starting with Ketoconazole 1% shampoo. I have a scalp like yours and I use a shampoo called Nizoral. It works really well and I would really recommend it!

My mom is also prescribed the same thing as you are and she hasn't had any major side effects.

The following side effects are associated with ketoconazole Top:

Does exist an effective way to cure seborrheic dermatitis?

Seborrheic dermatitis cannot be cured. So you can forget about pouring money into anything branded as a “cure.”The reason that it’s incurable is that it occurs in areas of naturally heavy sebum production. In people with oily skin, that sebum production is heavier. That provides a site for abundant growth of a normal skin yeast (called Pityrosporum or Malassezia). The only thing right now is just regular treatment to keep the condition under control, reduce swelling and itching, and prevent a skin infection. The order of the day is general hygiene at a high level.Wash skin thoroughly and regularly. Soften and remove scales from the hair. Apply medicated cream regularly. Change bedlinen regularly and frequently. Wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.Avoid hairstyling products. Avoid skin and hair products that contain alcohol. Avoid synthetic materials for clothes.

How to get rid of seborrhoeic dermatitis on scalp?

I'm 14 and I've had it since I was about 8 i think...I'm a girl and I have really long hair. When i was like 8, i had this stuff that looked like dandruff except it was BRIGHT RED and it was on my scalp. I went to the dermatologist and she said it was called "seborrhea". Since then, It's turned white, but occasionally in the summer the dandruff stuff turns green and it's really gross. I think the doctor told me to use "Selsun Blue" shampoo, but i don't remember if it helped or not. I also have been using this type of shampoo called "T-gel" for years but it doesn't do anything either. i tried using "head and shoulders"and that made it itchier.
I don't shower every day for a number of reasons- I don't have time, I have really dry hair and it ges even frizzier than normal when I shower every day, and I straighten my hair and it takes 2-3 hours to straighten it, and I don't have time to wash that out and straighten it again every day. I have noticed that if I don't wash my hair for a long time it gets worse, but I ALWAYS have the dandruff stuff, even while I'm in the shower after i use shampoo, it's still there.
It's REALLY itchy and flaky, and my scalp always feels like it's soaking wet. when I'm at school, It gets so itchy that I HAVE to embarass myself by scratching it, and then flakes start flying everywhere and I'm sure everyone can see it. and if for some reason, the flakes don't visibly fall everywhere, they get stuck in huge clumps under my fingernails and then i have to get it out without anyone seeing.
Does anyone have tips or know of products (available to/in th US) that can help change this? its very gross and uncomfortable.

Cut back on eating “junk” food such as processed foods (cake, cookies, french fries, anything in the middle aisles of your grocery store). Eat fruits and vegetables. Changing these dietary choices can help heal your gut.Take a supplement. Usually people who suffer from seborrheic dermatitis are deficit in Vitamin D, fish oil and probiotics. So introduce supplements into your diet until you skin heals. Also, taking Capyrlic pills help to clean the fungus out of your body and gut (intestinal track).Drink plenty of water and get 8 hours restEliminate stress in your life.Use cocount oil and Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother). Coconut oil has mixed results but so many people (different races) say that washing their face and scalp weekly with Braggs works wonders. If you use another Apple Cider Vinegar, it won't work. The mother helpsto change the Ph of your skin.If you use corticosteroids, please stop! I mean, if you are having a severe breakout than use them. Keep in mind, the steroids weaken your skin and immune system in order to kill fungi. So you may catch other infections such as yeast infections.Find out if it's seborrheic dermatitis and nor a mixture of seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis. If psoriasis is involved, you may want to use Stelara (you've seen the commercials) to help control the lesions. Seborrheic dermatitis mimics psoriasis but there is one major difference : lesions on the face. Psoriasis lesions are on other parts of the body.
