My friend seeking advice from moms who is done having kids, what contraceptive are you using?

In 2017 I had to have a laparoscopy for investigation and treatment of endometriosis- so while I was there I chose to get a tubal ligation using the filshie clips method. They’re like tiny titanium hair clips that close the Fallopian tubes so that no eggs can travel to the uterus (womb). Technically it is reversible, at least the clips can be removed, but the scar tissue may continue to limit fertility.Some women have had trouble with this method, however I am delighted and have had no health side effects whatsoever.A less dramatic method would be the Mirena IUD, it’s a long acting reversible hormonal contraceptive. The Mirena is effective for five years and may even stop your periods. It can be done in a trained doctors surgery, however if she can afford it, a gynaecologist will do a better job.Please, whatever you’re friend does, don’t let her get the Essure procedure. This method is where the doctor inserts two little metal spiral coils into the Fallopian tubes where they join the uterus. This procedure is not reversible (without major surgery) and can cause severe scaring and chronic pain and other health issues.Best wishes.edit to add: many here have suggested her partner get a vasectomy, so I’m adding it to my list of options- I didn’t write it in the first place because we don’t know what this woman’s life is like. It’s a good option, much less invasive than anything a woman can have done.

I’m seeking advice. I purposely got pregnant on a hookup and I don’t know if I should keep the baby or give up for adoption. What’s your feedback?

My feedback: give him or her up for adoption.You’re just not mentally or emotionally mature enough to be a mother right now. Look at what you put yourself & your child in… by the “hook up,” you probably mean having casual sex with a man who isn’t your boyfriend, your fiancé, or your husband so a chance of sticking around is 50/50. You purposefully got pregnant, but now ‘don’t know’ if you want to keep the baby that you (literally) chose to make.I’d think if you gotten pregnant on purpose—whatever the circumstance is—you’d want to keep the baby. The fact you are questioning it now is more than enough reason to give him or her up for adoption & let somebody or a couple who do know have the child they may not have otherwise. A baby isn’t a “wait & see” type of a situation. You cannot attempt to raise a child & just hope you figure out if you should’ve kept him or her. The baby will potentionally suffer while you figure out your feelings, so it is best for the baby & you if you adopt out.
