Select A Relatively Important Event And Describe Why It Was A Turning Point In Julie Andrews

Has the Western media  downplayed the contribution of the Soviet Union in winning  WW2 for the Allies?

Western media care first and foremost for their customers which are of course westerners so they choose to portray something their clientele can appreciate and identify with, hence the prioritizing of Western contribution. Secondly, media portrayals are often about spectacle and so choose to focus on combat or commando action most of the time. The popular media should never be confused for reliable and serious research and portrayal of history. Let me make a point regarding the Soviet Union in World War 2 I have not yet seen in the answers so far.War is about military doctrine, logistics and luck.Of these three logistics is even more essential for a long war like WW 2. So who do you think clothed, fed and gave the Red Army its operational mobility after the disastrous year of 1941?While most of the Soviet war material came out of their own factories (tanks, artillery pieces, planes and ammunition) large parts of the population and the soldiers were fed with goods brought in from Lend-and-Lease. This also includes shipments of trucks and jeeps which enhanced the mobility and thus the offensive and defensive capabilities of the Red Army greatly.Without these advantages Soviet offensives would have been blunted (less men due to decomissionig for farming and working in factories and less combat material in exchange for homemade trucks, jeeps, locomotives, radios and other goods) and its defensive capabilities would subsequently have also been less. The interesting question is how the Wester allies having saved on Lend-and-Lease for their Eastern ally would have used the material and workforce this help used up on their fronts. Is the contribution of the Soviet Union underappreciated? Yes!Are other historical factors carelessly neglected by popular media? Yes!In conclusion, media are not accurate in detailing how history unfolded. Do not use them as serious tools for discussing history but rather the clture that enables them do portray history as such.
