HELP. need ideas for self portrait?

k so here's the deal. im taking an art class for school and i guess we're going to be drawing self portraits. our assignment over the weekend was to take a creative picture of ourselves (portrait style) so no dominant background or anything. it is now sunday night and i still don't have one. yes, i am a procrastinator. D: so pleeeease give me some ideas. its winter and dark so no outdoor ones. thank you!

I need ideas for my cultural self portrait...?

How about drawing your self portrait and then divide the portrait into areas to colour in, maybe if you like, let say green - you do a section in green with different shading. Other section could be painted, if you like paint and maybe cutting out magazines to 'colour in' the portrait on another section...
Just one idea :D

How do you draw a self portrait without it actually being a picture of yourself?

Yeah. that could work. Instead of drawing yourself you can draw things that represent you as long as you (ex: star sign, favorite activities, music, food, etc) can give a good explanation but in art they let you with almost anything. You could also just draw yourself but in a different style like expressionism or cubism, maybe even draw just your shadow with an interesting background.

What is a self portrait in photography..?

A self portrait is a painting or a photograph you take of yourself. You can do this by setting the camera in front of a mirror, stand beside the camera, zoom in so you don't see the camera in the shot, and "fire away" until you get something you like. Or, you can do what millions of people do everyday, and just hold the camera out at arm's length in front of yourself, and press the shutter release button. Or, you can set the camera on a tripod (or just prop it up somewhere where it won't fall or where someone won't walk up and take it), and use the "self timer" function (if it has this feature). Press the button and you have 8 to 10 seconds to get in front of the camera in any pose you like before the shot is taken. REMEMBER: if you take unclothed shots of yourself, they may be seen by many people that you never intended. So, imagine your parents, teachers, etc. seeing these shots, DON'T TAKE THEM, and you won't regret it later. (Sorry, I assumed you're a student...if you're an adult, plug in "employer, wife, husband, minister, etc." for "parents, teachers, etc." in the last sentence.

Have fun with self portraits! Choose backgrounds that say something about who you are. Experiment with lighting, the angle of the sun or any light you're using, and the angle of the camera (whether the camera is low looking up at you or high looking down at you).

Good luck!

How can I take better self-portraits with my Canon Rebel SL1?

You can take better photos of yourself (although it would be easier is someone helped you with it) using the camera that you have.Your pictures will come out better in better light. Not midday sun but bright shadow with a nice clean background.Secondly, while a longer lens would be better. 85mm or longer, you can achieve pretty good results with what you have. Set the camera up like this.Set the mode AE (aperture preferred automatic). Set the aperture to its lowest setting. F2.8, f4, ect.Position your self in nice bright even shade with a dark background.Zoom the lens to its longest length and take the picture. If you are not sure how to set your camera like I have mentioned please read your owners manual. If you don’t have one, you can download one online at Canon.
