Selling Things Need Help Getting Out There More

Can you sell something that people don’t need?

You would assume that is the role of advertisement. However, many of those people who work close to the business would immediately disagree. Which sells more? A product nobody needs or one that everyone assumes they need? Need is king. From this, you might assume that the role of advertisement is really to create needs. Wrong again. Acccording to those experts, those needs can't be created. You would argue that this is nonsense. Nobody needed televisions or mobile phones back in 1811; we don't really need them now. They can be nuisances and we might even live better lives without them. Advertisement is to blame. There is certainly something more at work here, something which twists our desires and blows them out of proportions. Why else would ugly people buy clothes that look good only on the good looking? Why else would they expose themselves to biased information or go along being tracked wherever they go?A common way to sell people something they don't need is to hitchhike an existing need. For instance: the desire to be desired, the ability to reach out to friends and family whenever they wish, the possibility to engage with other people of similar convictions and share this mindset, and so on. You don't need this cool jacket, but you can feel like a star when wearing it. Your understanding of international politics is shady at best, but the daily news report make you pass as someone who's got an idea of what's going on overseas. In an ideal world, you would advocate for a right to your privacy, but your handy GPS and detailed personal profile have saved you from other daily troubles; as far as you know, you are happy with your compromises. Just build an adaptor between different needs that may even contradict each other. This way, you'll manage not only to sell things that people don't need. You'll sell them things they don't want, but can manage to live with.

What are some things I can buy in America and then sell it in the Philippines?

Plenty---
This time of year would be good for Xmas Lights. They cost plenty there for junky small items and people will pay good money for tree and display lights.--Filos love anything bright and shiny.
Cell phones are a good seller. Take or send some cheap unlocked Nokias and they will go like hotcakes. If you can ship and arrange sale, Chocolate will sell well and at a good price. Filos are mad for the stuff.
Camcorders too as it is hard to get anything there. Portable dvd players --yes they have them there but for ridiculous prices. I can buy them here for 49 bucks and sell them there for P6000 which is a 100 buck profit.Wind up no battery flashlights. I cant send enough of them. Buy here for 8-10 bucks and sell there for P3000 and up. They are REALLY popular as no battery ever, just wind the handle and that's it so people love them.Go to the thrift shops and get cheap women's clothing--you know the 50 cent to 2 buck bargains. Women there go nuts for western type clothes. I have sent and sold stuff that from here is no longer worn but if it has sequins and sparkles on it or loud colours and bright things stitched on it the Pinays have to have it. My wife picks it all out and sometimes she sends over a whole Balikbayan box and her sisters have a yard sale and make a fortune--it is fun for them and cheaper for us as they make good money selling the clothing. We also send lots of good meds. Headache pills , diuretics (really popular is Immodium) and that sells well as Filipino meds are utter crap.99% of any meds there is nothing more than sugar so western meds are really sought after. Im not talking anything but over the counter stuff, Panadol and anything for abrasions like tubes of anti septic as everyone there has sores on them.
Anyway, fill up a balikbayan box and send it to mama or whoever you know instead of just forking over cash all the time. They make good profit from selling it all and saves you money in the long run. I know --it works for us. And it is all perfectly legal and straight forward. If you send a balikbayan box and the family sell the contents--not your problem what they do with the stuff after it is shipped now is it ?
AFTER reading some of the other answers it is beyond me how you all survive?
Good grief Just how hard is it to fill up and send a Balikbayan box?
You people make me want to cry you are so NEGATIVE.

What's the difference between selling and charging a rehoming fee for a dog?

They are both the same thing. One way or another, someone is paying for the dog. I think that Craigslist just wants people to use a *softer* type of wording with this. The phrase re-homing fee doesn't sound as harsh as selling, IMO, but yes, it's all the same thing.

I want to create my own brand of clothes to sell online. How do I start?

Spend some time creating your game plan first before you even create your online site. Most first time sellers end up quitting after a few months because they don’t see the online sales come in after they build their online site.First of all, find out who you’re going to be up against as in your competitors. This will give you an idea on the amount of work and effort you’ll need to put in to sell your own branded online of clothing. The bulk of it would be on marketing and getting your brand out there via organic search and social media without spending on any ads until you’re making profit. You may only want to hold a certain number of stock for your clothing to test the market as compared to having a lot manufactured and then facing the dilemma that they’re unable to sell. Offer limited quantity first and if response is good, you can notify buyers of incoming stock later for them to purchase.List down all the categories and products that you plan on selling and have good product images with models. Clothing sells best when customers are able to see it being worn in real life by models.Determine who would be your target customers. Wholesalers? End users? Both?Work out your costing in terms of monthly subscription fee for ecommerce service provider. If you’re looking for one that does not charge extra for features that you’ll need, consider InstanteStore.Get a domain name that is short and easy to remember. Bear in mind a lot of shoppers these days prefer to browse, shop and and buy online.Make sure your online purchasing process is easy and straight forward.Pick a good payment gateway and check their transaction fees.Offer free shipping for customers who purchase above a certain amount and pick a sensible courier service.Ask for feedback from family and friends to test out your site before you launch it.Reward customers for giving you positive reviews and feedback.Selling online is a learning journey. Give yourself a year to work on it as there’s plenty to learn and tweak along the way.Hope this helps.

Can you get in trouble for selling snacks and drinks at school ?

I'm 16 and a sophmore in high school. So, I've been thinking of some ways to make a few bucks. I can't get a job because I'm in school, and I'm having a hard enough time worrying about that. Topping my days off with going to a job after school until 9 wouldn't help me out. (homework mostly)......So, I was thinking that I could sell snacks.(chips, candy, etc.) and drinks (Arizona ice tea's, cans of pop, bottles of gatorade or powerade) People are always looking for stuff to eat in school. Especially "munchies" and something to drink. Some people I know would be willing to pay 2 or 3 bucks for one of those smaller bottles you see of Gatorade. (of course the price I'd be selling stuff at would depend on how much I'm paying for them)
I would probably keep a dozen or so of different things in my locker......6 drinks......maybe a dozen or two small bags of chips.....a big bag of candy......stuff like that......you get it......
But, can I get in trouble for doing that?
People do it all the time. If someone has a drink they don't want, they'll just sell it to someone for a dollar or whatever.....I don't see anything wrong in doing it.....You're just making a few bucks......so what do you think?

Is it wrong that i sell my body for drugs?

think it is wrong. I think it is wrong for you to sell your body for anything. You need to show some self respect and get yourself cleaned up. Go to some agencies for help, the church, narcotics/alcoholics anonymous. Just do something to get your life in order and get some positive feelings of yourself!

How to breed and sell hamsters for profit?

Wow whoever said I am an animal abuser, you couldn't be further from the truth. I love animals and I want to be a Humane Law Enforcement Officer. I would never abuse and animal. I have saved many animals and got all my pets from the shelter. I would never breed a hamster just for money. I would never breed a hamster I knew would die or have genetic problems with the babies. Seriously people. You judge me but you know nothing of me. Thank you to the few people who actually answered my question without critism.
