Sending Prescription Drugs From Thailand To The Us Is It Legal

Mailing prescription drugs to thailand?

If your son is retired on or some type of military pension have him go to JUSMAGTHAI next to soi 1 Sathorn Road. He should stop in to the APO office in the rear of the compound and see about setting up a mail box or having his mail sent General Deliver. This way his prescription will go through US mail and will not deal with Thai customs.

Is it illegal to mail prescription drugs through the mail?

It is not illegal to mail prescriptions, there are services that mail prescription drugs as part of their service.

Sending prescription med's through mail?

The post office does allow prescription drugs to be sent, but it does restrict "Drug Paraphernalia". You could talk to your local post master so they know you're doing it, but as long as you have the prescription, it is totally legal.

According to http://pe.usps.gov/cpim/ftp/manuals/dmm1... the restrictions for the post office are:
"Some things cannot be mailed or can be mailed only in small quantities for safety and legal reasons. Some items have restrictions on how they can be mailed, including:
· Aerosol cans
· Firearms
· Flammable materials
· Liquids and powders
· Lottery tickets
· Poisons
Some items, however, are not permitted in the mail, including:
· Alcoholic beverages
· Ammunition
· Drug paraphernalia
· Fireworks and other explosives
Call 1·800·ASK·USPS or visit your Post Office if you have questions about the item you want to mail."

You should be perfectly fine as long as you have a copy of the prescription with you in the other state (for your safety) and the friend mailing it has a copy of the prescription (for their safety).
Also, for added safety, you may want to insure or register the package... that's not something you would like to lose in the postal system. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Is it illegal to send perscription drugs through the mail?

Yes. If you feel that the prescription would work for another individual, it is safer for you to give them the name and have them contact their physician.
It's illegal to transport any drugs across state lines, even by mail, which runs into federal jurisdiction. That's means that if you are caught, Attorney General can pursue you and the Federal government under the postoffice or mail carrier or parcel regulations.

Would it be legal to mail prescription medication for a dog?

So, I've asked about this already but before I thought it was over the counter medicine, but it's actually technically a prescription medication. And yes, it's for a dog, not a human. I'm going to a school learning how to train dogs, and the school is on the opposite side of the country from where I am now- I went back home for winter break. Anyway, all the dogs get these two medicines (both are just small tablets) on the first of every month, for heartworm and flea prevention. I brought a dog home with me, but I forgot to bring the medicine, and unfortunately there is no way for me to go back and get it, being thousands of miles away. I'll have the dog till the middle of January, then I'll go back to school, but I don't think I should wait that long to give him the medicine. There would be a way to order it online, but it comes in like a 6-pack and I don't need that much, I just need one tablet, plus, it's expensive and I can't afford it (I don't want to ask my parents to buy it either, they've already spent a lot of money for Christmas and for flying me home). Would it be wrong/illegal to ask one of my classmates who lives around there to get the two tablets from the school and mail it to me? I have read that it's illegal for people to send THEIR prescription medicine to another person, but not for a person to send prescription meds to another person which belong to the recipient. So I'm not sure about this situation with the dog, would it be legal? Some people have been telling me that since vets and companies like PetMed mail medicine, it's legal...but they're just shipping actual orders and they're licensed, I don't know that that's the same as a friend just randomly mailing me the tablets.

Is it legal to mail prescription medication to a relative?

Tape the top on the bottle, pop the bottle in a small box or padded bag, seal it up.

Address it to your Grandma at your Aunts house...
Grandma Smith
123 Main St
Anywhere, USA 12345
c/o Auntie Sue.

Its Grandmas medicine so there is no issue there.
You can try getting it transfered to a pharmacy in Aunties town, however, not all states allow these transfers.

Just mail her the medication.

Why have i been arrested for sending my own prescrfiption through fed ex.?

I cannot say whether or not there is any federal law which prohibits mailing prescription drugs, though I doubt it, and I don't see how it would apply to FedEx anyway. At any rate, if there was such an offense, THAT is the offense you would have been arrested for. I can say that I do not believe that H&S Code sec. 11352 is violated by this conduct when the person has a prescription for the drugs, since the statute prohibits transportation or importation of drugs ONLY if done without "the written prescription of a physician." (Otherwise, of course, you would commit a felony by just walking around with the medication, since that constitutes "transportation" in California.)

I can certainly understand why the police would track a package containing narcotics--they would have no way of knowing that the person sending and receiving the drugs had a prescription. However, unless there is something you are not disclosing, if the police report shows that you had a prescription, I would very much doubt that any prosecutor would file this charge. If it is filed, I cannot see any defense attorney being unable to get it dismissed. AND the police should return your lawfully possessed medication to you.

What are the rules for carrying prescription medicines while boarding international flights from India?

I have carried my medicines with me on almost all of my trips abroad. Different countries have different rules regarding bringing in medicines. For example, there was no checking and no questions asked when I entered Thailand and Hong Kong. However, there was thorough checking when I entered Australia. In the USA they say they are strict but I was not checked any of the times I entered. Irrespective of what the rules are, a few simple tips can help you have a hassle free trip.1. A couple of strips or bottles should be fine, but even with a prescription, you are asking for trouble if you try to take in like 50 or 60 + strips or bottles. 2. Make sure all your medicines are branded and sealed ones. Local homeo or ayurvedic ones that you got from a country Doc will be sent for testing if caught. 3. ALWAYS carry your prescription with you. Before your trip, remember to scan and email a copy to yourself.4. Be honest on the disembarkment form. Do not lie and say you are not carrying anything. If found lying, the fines can be heafty. 5. Before each trip, do some research about the rules of the country you are traveling to. As I said, each country has a different rule. 6. Make sure the names and labels of the medicines are clearly visible. Do not try to hide anything.Follow these few simple tips and you should be fine. PS: worst case scenario, always get the local name of the medicine you are carrying, that it is known by in the country you are traveling so. So in case your medicines are not allowed in or has been confiscated, you can get it locally, after getting a  prescription, of course.
