Senior Portrait Make Up Questions

Makeup for senior portraits?

I'm taking my senior portraits this Saturday, and was wondering if I should wear foundation or not. I heard that wearing foundation with SPF affects your photograph.

I am currently using a liquid foundation from L'Oreal and it has SPF 20. Will that SPF have that much effect on the photographs??

Would you recommend that I skip foundation and just use concealer, or apply a light coverage with foundation? Or simply use it how I normally do? Not sure if SPF 20 is high or not.

Thank you!

What should I wear for my senior portrait?

There is a difference between formal wear and looking nice. Unless your school requires you to dress formally, wear something that you feel comfortable in, that fits you well and that is clean. Make sure whatever you choose makes you feel like the best version of yourself. Bear in mind that these photos represent who you are at this moment of your life. Then try to relax when you smile.

I’m going to have to have my senior portrait done soon and I’m a closeted non-binary. I hate dressing feminine. Also I’ve seen a senior portrait of a woman in a tux but I don’t know what to do. What do I do about this?

Dress in a way you feel comfortable, not to make a statement about your sexuality. Your sexual preference is not anyone’s business. There is no need, for example, to wear make-up or earrings if you don't want to. The idea is to create a nice memory, not show the world the type of people you want to have sex with. The only thing I remember about my senior picture (yes, we had cameras in those long ago days) was that it was in black and white because that’s the only film photographer had. Go figure. They were cheap enough to buy.The woman who took a picture in a tux? God bless her, if that was her thing.Do what you feel comfortable with. Go make a nice memory. Then study your ass off before graduation.Best of luck.

Where can I get my makeup done for my upcoming senior portrait?

Sephora will ask you to purchase a $50 gift card or buy $50 worth of products as a means of paying for a 45-minute full face makeover. You could also ask for a free 15-minute “mini makeover”, which will focus on one small area (foundation, eyeshadow, lips, and so on). They seem to be versatile in terms of what kind of looks they can do.MAC is also $50 (in products or a gift card) but I don’t recommend them: they’re always really snooty when I shop there. They intimidate me, and I am someone who wears a full face of makeup. From what I’ve heard, I get the feeling they might try to do a really dramatic look no matter what you ask for.I learned how to do my makeup when I got a makeover at a Bare Escentuals store when I was 13. I’m not sure if I had to buy anything since I was with my mom, but I would guess you’d have to purchase a couple of products. I loved it there because they did a natural, age-appropriate look and I feel like they would be able to do something light for senior pictures. Natural glam is kind of their market.Good luck, Jen! Enjoy your photoshoot!!

Sephora Makeover for senior pictures?

A Full Makeover consultation requires a minimum $50 payment. You should call your local Sephora location and confirm an appointment rather than showing up on the day of your event. That way they'll be better at catering to all your makeup needs and be expecting you. The $50 is basically put into a Sephora GiftCard, which you'd use on whatever products you want to. During the consultation the castmember will give you ideas on skincare and makeup. You can try out different looks and products and ask any beauty related questions you might have. The best part of this service is that you'll learn what works best on you and you won't be rushed and clueless with all the options at Sephora. The $50 seems like a lot, but technically since it's on a giftcard you don't have to spend it all on that day.

BTW, most makeup counters give makeovers for a price- Usually they say that makeovers are Free (with a purchase). Even at MAC, when they do a makeover you're expected to spend on a product. They don't technically tell you they charge a fee for makeovers, but it's expected and proper to make a purchase (it doesn't have to be expensive, it could be a lipgloss or liner, however much you want to spend) when getting a makeover done.
All Sephoras also have Free Services, but they're limited to one beauty item being done. For example: Foundation matching, Smokey Eyes, Lips, Skincare. Each of these are free since it's only one beauty concern and any castmember can help you to do any of them.

False lashes for senior portraits tomorrow?

Indivisual lashes are definitely harder to apply. What I recommend is either buying demi lashes (half eyelashes), or cutting your full strips in half, and only putting them on the outer corners. Then putting eyeliner on the rest of your top lid, and white eyeliner inside the bottom. This will make your eyes look huge. Here's a link to what demi lashes look like:

My senior pictures came out really bad?

Ew, I know. I thought I was alone. My eyes look really small with bags under them in mine. I don't have bags in person, and my eyes are normal. My forehead looks huge, and there are these awkward lines around my mouth. They're not dimples....they actually circle around my mouth kind of like a goatee. Same problem as yours with my nose. Anyways, I'm a photography student, so if you want, I can edit out whatever you dislike about it. I don't know if that would help with the whole yearbook thing...

To answer your actual question, if you know that pictures are going to be taken, wear makeup. I am the most unphotogenic person alive, but makeup tends to help even out my face a bit. Unfortunately, I didn't wear enough for my senior portraits. To stop yourself from blinking, ask the photographer to count to three. Close your eyes during the process, and open on the count of three.

Is It weird to get your makeup done for Senior Pics?

I just made an appointment with M.A.C. To get my makeup done for senior pics only because I want my pictures to be flawless and not like all my other school pics (ugh) lol. So is it weird? Its going to be light and define my eyes..nothing dark and plus after I'm going to the movies with some guys..so it won't go to waste.

Thanks

Should I wear makeup for senior pictures I'm a guy.?

Not everyone is photogenic, but everyone wants a great graduation photo. There are a few ways both males and females can improve their photo results and feel confident as the photo is being taken.

Male or female, you need to consider highlighting your best features and hiding things that are not flattering. A pimple, for instance, can be covered with natural skin toned foundation for males or females. Then, if you do wear makeup in your day-to-day life at school, do your makeup the same way for your photo. You want to look like yourself, not someone glamorized or scrubbed clean for the photo. You hair should be in your regular style, but if you wear your hair short, get a trim a week or so before the photos are taken. This will keep you groomed but you won't have just-cut hair that sometimes does not style as easily. Before you take your turn for the photo, use the mirror they provide to check for any smeared makeup or messy hair. In fact, even if you never use hairspray, this is the one day to use it and keep your hair lightly in place.
