How do you spend your perfect Sunday?

My perfect sunday is having a lie in, reading the papers over breakfast and just pottering about for the rest of the day doing my own things.

To make it even more perfect is when we go out for our sunday dinner..........bliss..no cooking. :)

Seniors - where did you spend your childhood summers?

Several summers I went to my step-grandparents in Ohio or upstate New York. where grand dad worked on a dredge. The last time was when I was just 16 and my mom sent me to Ohio to keep me from spending 'too much time' with my girlfriend of 9 months (day after school got out in June, '63).

In your senior years will you regret the time spent gaming on the internet?

I’m not quite “senior” but I’m old enough to know how this goes:You regret the time wasted mindlessly. For many, that’s playing games. But for some, gaming is a legit relaxation, or a social activity. Will you regret entire weekends spent in drinking or TV binges? Or watching football games by yourself? Or obsessive exercise? Or writing on Quora or ranting on social media? Or…?Basically figure out what you value, and align what you do as closely to that as you can.UPDATE: The one thing you’re really going to regret? Wasting time by getting angry with yourself for wasting time.

How can senior citizens spend their time resourcefully?

How can senior citizens spend their time resourcefully?Old people are something like young people but usually have more time available.I once met a man in his eighties who was about to start a new business enterprise. He and his wife had been sweethearts in their teens but had separated, married other people, and moved away. When they were both widowed they returned to the suburb of their birth, met again, fell in love again, and remarried. Life was full of opportunity for both of them.Sure, failing health restricts us in many individual ways, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t capable of undertaking a great many productive tasks. In spite of popular myth, the brain doesn’t necessarily atrophy in old age.The wonderful thing about retirement is that we now have time to pursue all those interests we couldn’t develop while we were younger because we spent most of our time working for the man.

Best way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Beirut?

Ok I think Smutty said it all.

I only like to add that having 2 small kids, my husband and I plan a car trip each Sunday to go somewhere with the kids where they could explore new places and see new things. And we usually stop at a restaurant and eat. And the kids like to see the stuff they learn in books. Like if they learn about Baalbak we take them to Baalbak etc...

Navy boot camp - How did you spend your free time?

Studying and shining your boots. We really didn't have much free time. But if you have free time, (I know it sounds stupid) redo your bunk or your clothes. I remember alot of stamping and folding.

If you have more questions email me!!

Senior citizens: What type of clothes did women wear when shopping during the 1950s?

When I grew up in the 50's and 60's we dressed up for things like going shopping and we even put on our best clothing to go visit the doctor.
It was like a respect thing. My mother didin't want us to wear jeans on a Sunday and some stores were not open on Sundays. And most people didn't have credit cards. And when credit cards came out, you had to have collateral. to back up the money spent.
Also, at the end of the school day we had to take off our school clothes and put on worn out clothing to play in. Also, we had two pair of shoes......dress up and School shoes. oh and tennis shoes were a new thing and only used for gym classes. Girls were not allowed to wear pants to school.
Styles were not as varied as they are now. There was less to choose from.
Shopping was a big deal. There were not big grocery stores. Often neighborhoods had a small corner store. There was no quick shopping trips. I remember when the 7- 11 stores opened. They were only opened from 7AM to 11 PM and that was a big deal!
The first time my mother went to a big grocery store she got dizzy and had to sit down.
Time has changed. Big time~
