If you are a teenager, can you even imagine being a senior citizen one day?
Teenagers can imagine themselves as seniors, but they’d be wrong. Even at 40 or 50 we couldn’t have accurately imagined 70 or 80. Today’s teenagers and their parents have no real idea what it’ll be like for them, and neither do those of us over 70 know what our children’s and grandchildren’s last decades will be like.Here are two of many reasons: 1) No one told us how many people would be alive and relatively healthy in their 80s and 90s, how many would need to work and want to work far beyond the completely arbitrary retirement age of 65. The result is still unfolding, but clearly old age just ain’t what it used to be. Neither is Social Security. And where have all the pensions gone?2) The economy is going to have to reinvent itself to accommodate a reasonably fit, eager-to-work new segment of both the labor market and the consumer market. What that will feel like and how both public policy and corporate behavior will change is a total mystery.
How do you imagine your future?
1 Who would you want to be with for the rest of your life if anybody? If you don't know yet, then what kind of person are you looking for? 2 Where do you want to live and why? 3 What do you want to be (career)? 4 How many kids do you want and what do you want to name them? You can pick the genders or list all gender possibilities if you want. 5 What do you want to do after you retire? -----------------Mine-----------------... 1 My boyfriend, who I won't name on here, but he's very sweet, witty, and smart and he's very respectful and adventurous, I love him a lot! 2 I like where I live now, it's in the forest and not to far from the beach and it rains a lot! I want a big yard and a small house. (A mix of modern and old things inside) 3 I want to be a nurse and write children's books :3 4 I want two kids, either Elliot Charles & Carlisle Jude, Cassandra Eve & Willow Claire, or Carlisle Jude & Willow Claire. But I really want a boy and girl! They would have dark brown curly hair and green or blue eyes. 5 When I retire I would love to make a gigantic garden like I had when I was a kid, like a Japanese garden with lots of trees and ponds, and I still want to go on lots of adventures with my friends like I do now.
Teens: If you had to write a letter today to your future child(ren) what would you say?
Dear son/daughter: I hope the world you inherit is a good one. It will be if my generation finally got around taking responsibility and stopped being so complacent. If we failed, then I apologize for not working hard enough for your future. Whatever the situation might be, I hope can preach by example, live a compassionate, useful life, and that I do not cause you shame or sorrow. Life is very short and we only have one to live. Do not waste your time imitating other people's choices. Be bold, creative, ask questions and learn, and always tell people when you love them. Hold them close to you and create memories. I hope you know that I love you unconditionally and that wherever I am, you will always have a home and a shoulder to lean on. No matter what or where life takes you, I will always be your father. Live generously, promote peace and do not waste your time. Your life is precious to me. Nothing would make me happier than seeing you fulfilled, wise and strong. Dad. BQ: Yes, I do. Why are the youth of today so unimaginative?
Ok, i thought the video was very creative, but maybe you posted that to get a rise out of people. My, how quick of you to suggest that man has reached "the end of creativity", because what you see doesn't agree with YOUR sense of art and imagination. Isn't that what creativity is? Following one's very own idea of what is beautiful and artistic? The older generation has always been quick to judge "youth of today", forgetting what their own generation was like. Sure, youth today is being stereotyped because of some mindless strung-out, dull, unoriginal, play-station-playing sheeple that make up a fraction of our young people, but there are so many other creative and imaginative kids out there who draw, paint, act, create, and write. You just have to look for them. These computers, games, stupid tv shows are only acting as an anesthetic for our sedated youth, overstimulating them and taking away the need to think for themselves. HOWEVER, if you take them away, you get kids who are just as capable of imagination as you THINK you were as a kid. How about this? Why are the adults of today so judgmental? Why are the adults of today so narrow minded? I would be wrong to ask either question, just as you're wrong to ask this one.
Child-Free Seniors: Do you regret not having children?
I am not quite a senior yet. Few, if any people will regret it. I had a vasectomy when I was 21. That was 20 years ago. A few years back, my girlfriend and I attended my high school reunion. Many of my school mates didn’t have children. They all traveled the world, as I have. I live only a few miles from a 55+ community. I know a lot of child-free seniors. Not a single one makes mention of regretting it. I know a lot of people that have children, whom regret having them. They will never admit to their regrets in public. They however will in private. I think not having children is so great. It is the best choice I ever made. It is the old decision that I place above attending college. I think I have encountered just as many people that are rude and abusive about it as those that are supportive. I know a lot of child-free people. Not a single one regrets it. How do you think old people will be like in the Future?
I think in the future Old people are gonna blasting gangsta rap, dubstep and Indie music in there car because if you think about it, Old people now are very attached to their time, they think all this new stuff is crazy, and a lot of old ladies wear dresses and they don't dye there hair and they dont say things like "yeh! she's my BFF!" and Old guys dont have gages and say things like "yeh, man you my *****!" But I sincerely think that the people who grew up around 1995 til now are probably going to be nothing like the sweet old people today, It will be hilarious!! can you Imagine a whole bunch of young people in like the 2060s or something and our generation just comes up to them saying dumb **** like "cool story bro" and "Swag" and "yolo" Do you think the future will be like that?
Why old people hate teenagers so much?
Old people always move to the other side of the street when me and my friends walk down the street. It's kind of cool having "the greatest generation" scared of us. It's also funny when middle aged sales people follow me around when I go in a store or make me feel unwelcomed. Why do people dis like teens so much? We love to just have fun and live life, they once were teens and personally I never want to get out of high school.
How did the "cool kids" from your high school turn out?
Well, I've only been to two highschools. The one I'm currently going to, and one in the U.S.I called a friend to help me out, since I still have a year book, I asked her what happened to these so called “cool kids”, and how they turned out after 3 years.Credit to her for helping.That one guy who bullied everyone:He landed in a jail for beating up a girl last year.The guy who always wanted to fight everyone:Also jail.The one popular girl, who called everyone a slut:She had 12 boyfriends, and has two kids. So who's the slut now?The one fat kid, who was kinda a nerd:He lost weight, and now has a girlfriend.The one girl who everyone kinda liked.She moved back to Russia after the school year.That one slavic foreign smartass guy, who was pretty chill:He does comedy standups for the schools talent show every year, everyone likes him.The guy who everyone bullied:He now plays football, and he's pretty muscular.The guy who people knew, kinda liked who was a dancer:He moved back to Ukraine, but would always dance with this other guy sometimes.The short Mexican kid nobody could understand:He learned English, now plays soccer. Who also has girlfriend.The gangster wannabe guy, who always got into fights:Got changed with assault and shoplifing. He got two years of probation, and three months of jail.The guy who was kinda quiet, funny, who always would dance with the Ukrainian guy:He moved back to Russia with his sister and family. Also is a master in the art of smartassery. (Take a guess who that is.)The nice girl who could beat the hell out of anyone, was close friends with only a few people:She has a job, she volunteers at hospitals, and vets. She also pretty much helped this answer.The small group of Russians:They do the same stuff, just more mature and friendly (Pst remember, this school had a lot of Slavic people in it.)The anorexic girl people bullied:She sadly committed suicide.The one kid who was a greaser.He's a friendly badass. He has a girlfriend too.The girl who plays a lot of instruments.She creates her own music, and she wants to be a music artist..This concludes my list.
